That area doesn't seem like it would be nearly as bad if it didn't go totally retarded with a lack of checkpoints. Each of those rooms is already pretty difficult compared to most of what we've already seen by themselves. Don't really need three of them in a row like that without checkpoints.

yeah, agree 100% that there should be checkpoints here, same with the other optional three-room bonanza, again, easily my least favorite spot of the game, this, and easily the hardest. it's actually a pretty big stain on an otherwise pretty good game.

The problem with that is you have no easy way to get back to the main game, and the rooms don't look like they're designed to be done backwards. Nope, there's another one. Top right corner of that room. Doesn't go transparent for you. (I have a screenshot on steam if you need it).
Also, that second level music if easily my favourite in the game, same with the bosses in this area, the best bosses IMO.
EDIT: Also, the left-most room in the engine core (it's a pretty large rectangle), make sure you check all the exits marked on the map.

I agree next up is one of my favorite bosses. And I'm glad to see raocow having fun with the railgun. Not only is it powerful, it penetrates walls and floors as well, which most other weapons can't do.

Glad to see rao had fun with the Teleport-Bot and the teleporting device. I agree the game would have been done better to unlock that sooner. It gives the game an identity to its platforming that goes beyond the Metroid/Mega Man/Cave Story inspirational material.
One minor tip, raocow: You can destroy those green spinning-laser machines. Both grenades and the rail gun work great for that purpose.

For the main story path, he has two areas and two bosses left to complete. For side content, there are two major difficult optional areas (the one he tried and another he hasn't visited); there's also a scattering of other side content of significantly less difficulty.

Doesn't matter much now as he's already past that point, but another way to deal with the section immediately after getting the Missile Tracker (that raocow dealt with by running/jumping through at full speed) is to NOT run at full speed, and instead use the Missile Tracker to destroy the robots falling from the ceiling BEFORE jumping to each column. You can destroy the falling ceiling robots even before they reveal themselves.

raocow, you have a triple jump. Use your triple jump. It charges up very fast, so you should be using it all the time. You're making the platforming sections so much harder for yourself. That's probably why you enjoy the boss fights more.
