You're misunderstanding the question, I'm asking 'how was the level improved by preventing you from using outside powerups'
Depending on how the current is implemented, it might be that you're way more likely to be glitch-killed if you're big.

Poison Gas looms on the horizon... Also, idk if you found this out or not, but the pipes are randomized.

Hint: For the secret exit, once you spawn the 1UP, it will not come back. You have to reset to get it to spawn again. Don't be like me and spend 30 minutes having it not work for you after getting the normal exit already.

What... what... WHAAAT?

So... there were stupid secret exits. The secret exits that were so much really stupid in how obscure they were.

This is not one of these.

The problem this time is a normal exit.

It's a maze, and I sorta suspected there are identical rooms, but that would be fine (by VIP standards)

... except for one detail the game forgot to mention.

This stupid maze is nondeterministic.

I'm... just... why?... That's... just... evil...

(also, checked VIP wiki, this is a correct solution, unlike Cave With Bubbles where raocow overcomplicated the correct solution)

I don't blame you for opening Lunar Magic, the entire puzzle of this thing is just stupid. Like, really stupid. Not even stupid, beyond stupid.

Well, the secret exit is not that bad...

except that it leads to otherwise optional level (by optional, I mean that you can reach every other level in a game without beating that one) called You Will Die A Lot Period (aka Poison Gas Clouds, but my name proposal sounds better). As if game was trying to laugh at you for picking an easier way out.

At least Ghost-Coaster! is a really easy level, so it will be a bit of a breather. No kidding, Ghost-Coaster! is like World 1 (or 2) level that doesn't fit World 1 theme in World 7. And even the level after Ghost-Coaster! while has its problems, it's neither this level or Poison Gas Clouds.

By the way, in You Will Die A Lot Period, normal exit leads to Ghost-Coaster!, and secret exit leads to the level after Ghost-Coaster!, to further drive the point.

Welcome to VIP of unbalancedness.

I honestly don't know what you guys were expecting, considering the VIP designers in general actively hate the player and want to piss him or her off.

I'm not entirely sure. The game seems otherwise quite fair, even if there are a few problems here and there, and for me it feels whoever made this overworld realized that murder death place zone is murder death place zone, and made it completely optional (not needed to reach any other level, not even final final level). It's the only level behaving in such way that has two exits.

(airship level however is needed to reach final final level, oh well)

The level is deterministic. It is only the door that is randomized; the pipe works as normal. Therefore, you need only enter the pipe twice from the first time you enter the room to reach the place with the correct blue door.

Edit: OK, but what is funny is that touching the door (the bottom of it is the custom block responsible) initiates a random exit subsequently on the pipe. This is probably an oversight distorting the intended design of the level.

that... doesn't correspond to my experience.

Each room has a different thing in the yellow block; one has coins, one a powerup, one a vine, and the 'final' room has a 1-up. And the 'powerup' room lead me to different outcomes.

edit - hah, and I was touching the door everytime I took flight. Well then.

I was gonna comment on how gross nasty that final level in today's video was. Then I realized I designed a level in a Zelda game that was basically the same thing but worse. Man, I am a bad person. :(

But yeah, that level was pretty gross nasty.

That was... ughhhh. Well I'm glad I never played VIP2 past the beginning of World 2 because if I had gotten to this point somehow without losing my sanity, this level would have done me in. That's just really really silly how that's supposed to be done, and the fact that touching the door essentially messes up everything and makes it worse just adds to it. Like... why? Why would you ever put a randomized aspect into a level like this in order to progress? The whole door thing might be unintentional, whatever, but that's such a dumb oversight on already a dumb gimmick (the rest of the level is fine, the whole "it looks like it's looping but it's actually different each time" gimmick is always a good one if it's done well, at least it's not that one level from VIP5). Like I don't mind randomization in like, say, that one level of A2MBXT that I think Jolpe did that was really hard (correct me on that if I'm wrong), because it ends up leading to different types of levels and you know, okay, fine, whatever, or say like a Bowser's Castle except the doors are randomized instead of you picking one. Annoying sure, but hey, it allows progression. This instance of it is just ludicrous.
Because Touhou OCs can in fact exist, sounds fake I know.

I can't change my username but I go by Vali/Claire now (aka call me Vali or Claire at your leisure ^^).

I never update this currently playing section anymore, it's probably an RPG or something.

...I took the liberty of watching the last level now.

.......
...........THIS IS WHY VIP GAMES ARE CONSIDERED BAD. That level had the absolute worst design decisions I have ever seen in a platformer, and I've seen both raocow's New! Yoshi's Island 2 LP and the S.S Suboptimal. Those at least depended on SKILL to win. This one? No. A ghost house. With a randomizer. ...Oh, and it requires camera abuse to win. This is the type of the level I would give an automatic zero for even TRYING to submit.

Oh, and the ending was the dick move to end them all. I don't even want to beat around the bush for this one. That infinity loop ''ghost house'' deserves every nasty criticism thrown at it. I'm not saying the person who made this is horrid and deserves that criticism themselves... but this is a terrible level. These criticisms only cover a mere tenth of what this level does wrong. I could write a whole paper on this subject.

....Phew. Glad I got that out of my system. I mean, I see another nasty level staring raocow in the face, but that could potentially use skill to win.

...How fitting that such a device would be found in abundance in a nasty level.

Is camera abuse that bad of a thing? The level actually gives a hint for that one.
