Wouldn't a snowy mountain and firey volcano in such close proximity cancel each other out?

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Galaxia del Volcán Gélido
Regarding costumes: The devil costume can get you an achievement. I bought it for that reason, even though I've only been using the chicken suit and the throw costume (for its weaker physicals and therefore opportunities for more combo hits to get through the challenges).
Not saying you have to go for that achievement, but if you're indecisive that factor may be enough to give it an edge over your other choices.
You also have a lot of money right now. The best use for it is buying the Intenso Shield Breaker or whatever it's called; once you buy it, you can break shields with any hit at all while in Intenso mode. Even with your reluctance to use Intenso, I think you can definitely see how you might like to have that available.
Also, I don't know if you've noticed, but there's a percentage-of-items counter for each area on the map. Or, if you look at the main map, areas where you've got everything will have a gold icon rather than a grayed-out one. You'll probably find this useful when you go on the collectathon.
As for my own progress: I've fully cleared out several areas and I'm working on the rest of the challenges at the moment. Just got Room 14's gold, that was tough but thankfully there was enough leeway to make a few minor slip-ups. I messed up in a few places but still made it just barely in time.

Man, what kind of Kickstarter were those three running anyway? Must've been one of the stupider ones.
Anyway, you got a sneak preview of Sierra Morena and the elite skeletons. These guys combine the regular skeletons' attacks with the ability to warp and sneak attack. Be ready for when they warp back and you shouldn't have any problems!
As for the Pico de Gallo dungeon, we haven't even gotten to one of the major gimmicks therein but already I have to agree about its surprise difficulty compared to the rest of the game (except El Infierno and possibly the final dungeon). In any case, we'll know it when we see it.
E: Oh yeah, and as Parama mentions below it's the other new area for STCE. Quite the distance between the two, isn't it?

Got all the gold medals now, as well as five mask pieces and 100% in most areas. This is going way better than I expected, though there have been some rough spots.

Ah, raocow gets an small peek of the beautiful looking Sierra Morena, where the platforming is quite challenging, but it lasts for and small moment, as there is a need for a detour through Pico de Gallo. I don't remember that much, but this place will be kind of challenging...
- Mexican references, phrases and words:
1:30 Here we have a more complete "Danza del sombrero mexicano" (dance of the mexican hat), compared to the short fanfare when you get a new skill). Of course, raocow didn't stayed long enough to hear more.
3:08 "Sierra Morena". "Sierra" is translated as "mountain range", but I did a quick search, and "Sierra Morena" actually exists. It is a mountain range in Spain. Like personal names, it can't be translated as "Mountain range Morena", so we leave it as "Sierra Morena" in english.
11:30 "Muchacho". It would be similar to the words "lad" or "youngster".
12:43 "Pico de Gallo". Now that I took more time to think about it, "Pico de Gallo" might be a triple reference:
- "Pico de Gallo" being literally translated as "Rooster's beak".
- "Pico de Gallo" being the mexican salad made of tomato, onion and chile.
- "Pico de Gallo" being refered as an actual "peak", with you going to a volcano. So, yeah, another translation could be "Rooster's peak"
- Videogame references and others:
1:57 "I AM ERROR". A reference to that dude in Legend of Zelda 2: Link's Adventure, both in what he says, and in his look.
14:46 Yeah, as raocow pointed out, this literally refers to how a kickstarter works.
15:11 I may be looking into it and just looking for a reference just for the sake of wanting to have a reference, but the one thing that this "may" be referencing would be the battle of "David vs Goliath", with Goliath being the giant monster and David the little hero. Of course, I may be wrong and it could actually be a reference for other thing, or it could be that it isn't a reference after all.

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Galaxia del Volcán Gélido
Finished the game with 100%! That was a lot of fun. Only achievement I'm missing is the Hard Mode clear.
I'll probably go for that just to finish things off, but not right away. And, um, I'm not sure if I'll go for 100% again considering the trouble two of those mask pieces gave me. Almost definitely not going for all the gold medals again, they weren't that bad but they're more trouble than I'm willing to go to for no in-game reward.
Anyways, now I can just look forward to watching raocow play through. I encourage him to go for 100%, the searching process was overall very enjoyable. This means getting five more gold medals, but that's pretty manageable.

Two of the remaining challenges are auto-golds like 11 was, after all.

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Galaxia del Volcán Gélido
So, fun facts about costumes I found while messing around in early game on Hard Mode.
-I'm not sure anybody's mentioned this, but if you unlock a costume, it's unlocked on all save files.
-The Pinata costume doubles money awarded, both from enemies and from chests... and that includes silver coins.
Using that second fact, it's possible to get all the costumes in one game. I probably would have done this if I'd known about it, but oh well; I'll have them all unlocked soon enough anyways.

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Soy un artículo defectuoso de fábrica.
Man, Tostada, way to not follow skeleton attack protocol. Your bosses must be ashamed of you.
Anyway, it's only been the first half of Pico de Gallo and already we're in for some nasty surprises--instant death lava and new mechanics involving its use, along with newer and more dangerous enemies. The Blurryface Exploders in that Intenso chest room are instadeath when they explode. They don't care what you think, they just want to end it all in a red and bluish-black rage. Meanwhile, the Elite Giants are what you'd expect of both Giants and Elite enemies--huge, strong, and capable of teleporting. Try rolling into them the instant they reappear to avoid their attacks!
It's a good thing the game saves chests obtained, since otherwise having to re-obtain them would get tedious fast.

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Popocatépetl
Oh boy, the memories of Pico de Gallo are coming back...with so many instant death instances, and the game forcing you to be in dangerous positions. I remember that I had a blast in this place, even if it was hard. It seems that raocow is enjoying this place too. But I think that it will be getting a bit harder from now on. Oh...and...yeah...another of those "yelling at the screen" moments with raocow appeared...I was like "raocow, you must only punch once when you were destroying those bombs in the bonus room with the intenso thing", and it took like 3 or 4 attempts to raocow before learning that.
- Mexican references, phrases and words:
I don't think there is an obvious one in yesterday's video...if there is, would someone be kind enough to point it out?
- Videogame references and others:
14:00 It may be a coincidence, but that platforming section at the end of the room with the raising lava reminds me a lot of the escape sequence from both Metroid and Super Metroid, as raocow pointed out.

If your crotchal regions are level with the bottom of your ribcage you have real problems.
Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Un Cabra Volar
Honestly, I was hoping the purple power was a choozoo statue, because i'd like to see goat man explain why he was in hell. But at least in the end we got to see him in A fiery hell, even if it is just a volcano.
But man, with all the upgrades now, this game just looks fun to move around in, it just seems so fluid and fast I love it. I want to play this game if only to just jump around and be generally Acrobatic

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - ¡Soy un amo la lucha libre! ...¡Casi!
Well, raocow, good news. The worst is now over! You met some elite Windmills, squirreled out all of Uay Chivo's secret techniques, and mastered the lava flows of Pico de Gallo. All that's left now is to snu-snu with a giant mecha skeleton!
Yes, I said that.
Anyway, Goat Fly is indeed the way through the spike pit in El Infierno Floor 4. And of course it's a huge convenience when traversing long areas while getting the rest of the Chac Mool pieces (for one thing, it's required for one particular piece.
Looking forward to seeing what's up in that giant skeletron next video!
(Also, I should go back and add in those inverted Spanish exclamation points in my previous titles.)
E: And there we go! No longer will I ignore something this significant to the Spanish language!

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Un Cabra Volar
Ah, raocow gets one of the moves that is so fun to use, Goat Fly. It is not only used to help you in the platforming, but it can help you to fight too, flying from one side of the room to the other to deal damage to every enemy at your same height.
Next video, one or two interesting things may happen...
And, raocow, that last chest...you may be able to get it from that place with the lever if you let yourself drop a bit, use your blue kick then use your double jump and maybe the rooster punch to get in the platform.
- Mexican references, phrases and words:
Again, I couldn't notice any mexican references, or something new to be translated. It's a sign that the game getting to an end sooner or later. Aww, my one true contribution to the talkhaus its coming to an end...sadness...
- Videogamre references and others:
4:22 I only noticed it because someone pointed it out, but this room may be a reference to the room where you fight Wendy in Super Mario World. Even having the enemies emerging from the pipes may be a reference to it.
@Grounder If you tried to translate "Goat Fly" or "Flying Goat" to spanish...you are a bit off, of course, due to the grammar, it can be kind of hard to literally translate.
Goat Fly - "Fly" would be a verb, but in this context, would be more of a sustantive..."Vuelo de cabra", instead of "Cabra Volar"...it just sounds kind of weird.
Flying Goat - Translated to spanish is "Una Cabra Voladora"
@Joseph Staleknight In your title, you missed a word. I am sure that you tried to say "I'm a master of wrestling!...Almost!", but as you wrote the title, would be "I'm a master the wrestling!...Almost!". You need to add the word "de" before "la" to correctly translate it from the first phrase, being correctly translated as "¡Soy un amo de la lucha libre!...¡Casi!".

The mask pieces are the hardest part of getting 100%, though. Two of them were by a good margin the hardest things I did. Even the gold medals were easy by comparison. (And getting all of them isn't necessary for anything except the achievement as far as I can tell; El Infierno is marked as complete on the map once you go through the ten-gold door.)Parama wrote:i still say, maybe 100% overall isn't necessary but you will def. want all the mask pieces, and you'll def have to explore a fair bit to find them all, which is good

I guess it could still be included in the global count, I wasn't paying attention to that at the time, but it would be weird if it did and wasn't counted for the actual area.
