It's an amazing in a "trainwreck" sense, if that's what you mean.
It's an amazing in a visual and gimmicks sense for a free game too. Have you seen any speedruns of it?
Yup, doesn't really change anything.

i don't think an Adjusted Breast Measuring Scale for cartoon universes is particularly necessary, but the concept is pretty hilarious

Just have fun playing games. Stop being professionally offended by everything.
Leet wrote:as an aside im tired of seeing people (not anyone in particular, im not jabbing anyone) patting themselves on the back about "lol everyone is bothered by this BUT WE'RE NOT" because very few people have actually complained about it, just laughed about it/expressed confusion/rolled their eyes. don't falsify other peoples reactions for your own image - see also: the video game Hatred, which essentially became famous solely because people pretended other people were offended by it, when actually they were just criticizing it, same as any other work
I challenge you to find a single person in this thread who was actually offended by this.
Criticism is not the same as being offended, by the way. But I could understand how it would look like a good idea to reframe criticism as anger in order to shut it down. :]

Doesn't matter. By spending 90% of the thread complaining about character designs, rape jokes, etc. you are throwing discussion about gameplay and fun to the wayside.
I don't know about you, but I'm here to share enthusiasm for video games. I don't care about ideology or message. I just want to have a good time.
If some trend in the game industry bothers you, go make your own game and lead by example. Otherwise get over it.

It was simmering down, why perpetuate it by trying to incite responses about the topic? If you want to actually talk about the game, talk about the game, don't make passive-aggressive accusations at other people. Take your own advice and lead by example.

So if we criticized the gameplay it would be different? (By the way, we have. Or other people have at least.) Art is art.
You don't get to choose which parts of it are allowed to be critiqued or not. If anyone's offended, it's
definitely you, who's making a huge fuss over our criticisms for some reason.
Should people's reviews of books only consist of how well the words were formed, and not opinions on the plot and message? Of course not. If you want video games to be treated as an equal medium of expression (which you should, and hopefully most people on here do) then you have to actually let people give their thoughts on it without you using some internet buzzwords to shut them down.

Sorry, I know I'd hate someone rephrasing my own words and here I am doing it... but that's basically your core message here, and I'm going to disagree with you.
A valid discussion's a valid discussion, especially so long as it's actually prompted by the content of the game and therefore on target. Whether the current valid topic of discussion is whether or not another game by the creator was good or not, or what sort of subplot is going on with Rubi, or whether Vi's unnecessarily fanservicey by design or whatever, or whether the game's demanding a bit too much early from its player, it's all legit, and clearly people are actually interested in having these conversations even if you're not.
If you don't like 'em, well, that's why there's multiple trains of discussion going on. But so long as people are actually still discussing things tangentially related to the game, I can't agree with cherrypicking which discussions do or don't get to take place so long as some serious lines aren't being crossed.
For what it's worth on one of those subjects, I enjoyed Boshy? Absolutely there's parts of it I'm not fond of, but at the same time there's quite a bit of creativity and variety in it that made me smile. Much like the original IWBTG for that matter. That said, the flavour and 'fun' of the traps and referencing is part of the joy in those things for me and it makes the 'hard' a lot more rewarding to actually enjoy what I'm traversing. By comparison, I'm not really much for the kind of 'demonic and violent' ambience of, say, Dark Souls or, in this case, Wings of Vi (even if the latter is more cartoonish). It's interesting to watch, but I think I'd have less interest in actually playing it myself. I'm glad raocow's enjoying it though.
I
will say the boss fights seem super well done so far though. It's kinda graze-the-attack style gameplay thanks to the short range, which having a small background in shmups, is something I do enjoy. Just not sure about the segments between.

I think it's great that raocow plays something more difficult from time to time. It help to keep things in perspective.

See, the bullet hell parts of Boshy were some of the parts I hated most about it. Solgryn tended to get super spam-y with it, and it didn't help that your character could only take one hit and the sprite was the entire hitbox.
While I'm still not a massive fan of the bosses in Wings of Vi, he seems to have gotten a bit better with not just putting a million bullets everywhere. That said, some of the demon mode bosses look super rough.

This game looks a lot like terraria in some places, like the tileset has that kind of overwhelming "Yep those sure are videogame graphics" effect. Also I get this weird Drawn to Life feeling from the actual character sprites? Like in a good way. Might just be me though haha.

I wonder if we're going to see more Touhou-style "fit between this spread of slow-moving bullets" boss attacks like Pr'Grora fired during lobster mode. Vi's sprite seems rather large for that kind of challenge to be repeated - though I'm still unclear on how Vi's hitbox corresponds to her sprite.

Well the upcoming area looks neat at least, if it stays that way for a while (doubt it).
I hate bosses that just stick you on a tiny platform, even more so if they try wind attacks to knock you off. it just becomes a jumping in place puzzle and little else.

The ring/halo on top of her head does not seem to have collision at least. I feel like that might make jumping against the ceilings a little harder at the start.

darn it i was going to make that joke about the new area as soon as I finished watching the video but then I got sidetracked by Pr'gora's stupid wings.

Well, this topic sure derailed quickly.
Anyway, the game so far look decent, but I think raocow's playing doesn't seem to work well or something. There's just something off to me about the videos so far.
