Copy Kitty: Turbo Edition - "Aekros" - The Angel Lord - The Final Final Boss of Copy Kitty

Hey everyone! I've just started this little video project, since I can never sleep and Copy Kitty is the best game. :D
Video editing is now the norm! So watch out for those montages of death and destruction :D Copy Kitty YouTube Playlist
I'm recording all these in advance, a few at a time, then releasing maybe two a day. I will try to use raocow's style of editing when the levels get harder (death montages and chipmunk time), but with the exception of the first video I intend each episode to be 3 to 5 minutes long.
Video 1 and 2 (but not 1.5??) have little voice audio glitches, but that problem is solved in all other videos. Also, 720p60fps yay!

It seems to take quite a while to 100% a single stage, since you are basically completing each of them 4 times. I'll still be interested to see, how you complete some of the really difficult hard mode stages later in the game. I remember them requiring some strategy to not to die in.
I'm still looking forward to the steam release, but don't remember finding much news on that.

Thanks so much for watching, Willhart, and I really appreciate the feedback :) You are totally right, the stages are taking a lot longer than I thought they would. I wanted this to be kinda like a tutorial, with examples of how to accomplish everything, because later levels do require strategy. In the long videos (like Really Big Robots), there are time stamps in the description to the winning run of each achievement for the level. In the future there will definitely be raocow-style editing to shorten the videos, I promise

It is hard to come by news, but Azure posts screenshots of their developments on Twitter very regularly. A castle world update and a new boss are now finished, a long with many other upgrades, so maybe the update will be coming soon?
Thanks again for checking them out, I didn't think anyone would be interested haha!

I've been doing a 100% run with both characters myself, it's been stalled on 8-1 Hard Mode for a while though. I'm not even sure for how long I'm going to keep getting all conditions with both characters at this point, I've already taken it further than I expected to. But even if I give up on that part of it, I still want to do all the levels on Hard Mode and that's where I got stuck on that.
Really Big Robots is one of the first rough levels for meeting all the conditions, especially score with Boki. Savant has a much easier time getting the score, especially with the weapon drops.

Oh neat! Is this a run that you're recording too, or just for yourself? Last year I tried to do a 100% run on my own time, but stopped around world 4 or 5, due to real life stuff. Wanted to continue, but decided to start from scratch and record for some reason Don't give up! Someday you'll have that breakthrough moment and show 8-1 what's what! :D

That's a good point actually - I remember in my first playthrough that there were many levels that I gave up trying to get the high scores with Boki and used Savant instead. It might get pretty hard to 100% with both of them!
And thank you for posting in the thread, Dragon Fogel, I wasn't expecting any interest at all haha!

I don't really have any recording programs, so no, just doing it on my own time. It's been a while since my last attempt.
I managed to 100% the previous version, but not with both characters. I'm aiming to at least do that much on this version, though at the rate I'm going the next update might come out before I do that.
I also cleared Hard Marathon Mode with both in the last version, but with the changes to Hard Mode I'm not confident about being able to manage that again...

Hard Marathon Mode sounds, well, really difficult! If you accomplished that before, you can get through it again, I believe in you :D If anything, the changes will make it more fun, since it's "fresh", I think.
You know what might be fun - having a talkhaus Copy Kitty race using Marathon Mode (Normal or Hard). I use Dxtory to record, but heard good things about Open Broadcasting Software, it could work to record and stream. I wonder how many would be interested in such a thing? It would be the most colourful, explosive race of all time
Re: Copy Kitty: Turbo Edition 100% run - BIOWEAPON ft Zombie Robot Ant Brain [World 2 Boss]
Why does the zombie ant have a tail with a brain in it?! And since when does an ant have an extendable fleshy neck? *shudders*

You didn't catch what the hint dialogue was trying to tell you; a few more losses would have given you another dialogue that explicitly lays out the recommended strategy.
The Gertars damage the Vaerzet even when he's protected - this part's pretty easy to notice. But what's not so obvious is that this means that the best way to use them is to save them until he's protected. When his defenses are down, use your other weapons, then unleash the Gertars so you can take off some more health on that cycle.
You made the fight take a lot longer because you were just tossing out Gertars as soon as you got them, instead of saving them for when they could do something your other weapons couldn't. It's not so big a deal when using Savant or playing on Normal, but when you're using Boki on Hard Mode, it can easily save you a whole cycle.

Wow, I never noticed that before! That's what I get for just assuming he couldn't be hit during his protected phase. I went and made a short video showing that off - thank you for the tip, and thanks so much for watching :D
The world 3 boss is quite different on Hard Mode, and even different for Boki and Savant! It's also nice that there is an effective strategy for the no-damage runs on normal mode.
The boss run isn't in 60fps because Windows Movie Maker kept crashing no matter what I did. I hope the quality is okay!
I know my commentary still needs work, but I appreciate all the feedback I've gotten so far :) I'll keep working on this until it's done!

I don't know if you caught this, but as I recall the green explosion laser doesn't actually do damage. You can just go right through it and you're fine as long as you don't get caught in the explosions.
I forget if this applies to Savant's version of the fight too, I think it does but I'm not sure.
Also I found bouncing on the boss to be pretty effective for Boki, at least for as long as you can keep it up. Its lasers only shoot downwards, so you only have to worry about it spinning or floating up towards the ceiling where you don't have room to keep bouncing off it. Or about other enemies, of course.

Yep I noticed, although there is so little time between the green laser and the following explosions that I just used it as a warning to get away ASAP
Dragon Fogel wrote:I forget if this applies to Savant's version of the fight too, I think it does but I'm not sure.
In Savant's fight the Miasma Monster fires it above, causing acid to rain down, but I think you're right that the beam itself doesn't hurt

It does work pretty well actually - I decided to use the plasma attack instead because it seemed to deal damage quite a bit faster, which was especially important in Hard Mode with the two Miasma Monsters (plasma hitting both of them at once :D ). Me being clumsy during the low-damage run was the main reason for not bouncing so much!
Thanks again for the advice and feedback - I have a feeling I'll need it even more in the future. Ep26 and Ep27 had over 30 minutes of footage cut, and I can't imagine it getting any easier any time soon.....!

Now with three new episodes! (First is pretty easy, second introduces the fallen angel enemy type and the third forces the player to deal with overcrowding in tight spaces. Super exciting episodes what are you talking about )
I'm looking forward to filming the World 4 boss, it's somewhat different on hard mode, if I remember correctly...

I think the world 4 boss is my best video so far? My commentary contained more energy than normal. Also, Yolomacho is the silliest boss, especially on Hard Mode. "MUSCLES!"

I never quite figured out how to get Yolomacho to drop talismans, that might be useful when I eventually do Hard Marathon Mode again.
One thing you missed - if you immediately start firing upward, you'll kill the Tasbeht before the fusion starts. It drops a Typhoon powerup if you do. You can use that for a little extra multiplier towards your score, and on Hard Mode it's a big help in destroying the first missile.
Also, if you want a really fast win, try getting Savant's Bounce window to overlap his head. It's pretty hilarious.
One more thing - it seems that whether he fires an Explode missile or a Bounce missile depends on whether he's facing left or right. So you can get to his right and try to get Bounce as your first weapon if you want a really fast Savant win.

I never knew that! And it turns out that the target exists on hard mode too... I made an extra video showing it (with credit to you!), it'll be uploaded as an intermission after the World 5 boss. (Stupid story of the day: Perfected the world 5 boss this morning, but Dxtory crashed and I didn't notice, lost the entire video, only have the audio Whoops!)

Only noticed that during editing, but that should give a big advantage in Marathon Mode when I get around to it!!
In other news, Azure just finished another world with a new boss and fancy new enemies. I wonder how much longer until the next update...
Re: Copy Kitty: Turbo Edition 100% run - Penguins 101, Unstoppable, Magma Vents, Molten Mantle - Kicking Galore!
*Annoying squeaky teen voice*"Don't forget to rate, comment, subscribe, tell your friends, post to mytwitface+, call the president, put up billboards, add instagram filters, walk your dog, eat your greens, do your homework, annoy your parents, be angry on the internet, yodel, make a good halloween costume, make a good Make A Good Level X opinion post and, most importantly, destroy the world"
So DXtory crashed during my first recording of the boss, thought I lost the entire video, so re-recorded the boss perfecting a second time (took over twice as long). Managed to recover a corrupted avi of 2/3 of the first recording and repaired it, hence the two boss videos! And that's my story.
There is an achievement involving beating the boss with the penguin ball hidden in the top left corner of the level. I'll try to get it for the next intermission :D

I just discovered this game and completed a single playthrough. It's awesome!
It reminds me a LOT of Iji (by Daniel Remar) except with faster gameplay and less story. There's weapon combining, kicking, Super Metroid references, etc.! Even a number of the visual effects seem similar (though some visual effects appear to be inspired by Cave Story.) Does anyone know the history behind this game? Is it all done by one person?
Looking forward to the Steam release!

Hey Dude! It's made my two people, Azure Lazuline and Raibys (pronounced rye-biss). The game development blog is at Entenma, the blog with all the lore of the Copy Kitty universe is Raibys' Blog and you can get sneak previews of the next version at Azure's Twitter.
Iji is a really great game (spoiler: It came 3rd in the Patreon vote, so raocow should be playing it sometime after Wings of Vi). AgentJR has a good Let's Play of it too.
The steam release is going to be amazing -
it's definitely not just a HD version of Copy Kitty, so much is upgraded and there are so many new worlds, enemies, weapons and bosses it'll be like a new game. Hard mode and perfecting levels will be different and more rewarding, and Endless Mode have over four times as much content!
Try perfecting every level if you can, it's much more challenging (if you get stuck, the Let's Play here is a tutorial series essentially. Episode 50 is the best one I've made, and episode 51 onwards will be 1080p, 60fps :D )

Ah, wow it is the only result! Interesting - this is a forum for fans of raocow, a YouTube Let's Player - he was one of the first to start making Let's Plays, along with the likes of Proton Jon, eight or so years ago. The best intro to raocow's work is probably found on TV Tropes. The stickied posts in the "let's play" forum are for raocow's current projects, while the non-stickied are other forum members' video projects (like mine!) :)
You can find links to all raocow's video series here at this link, including two different Copy Kitty playthroughs (an old version and the newer version of the game). Stick around and take part in the forums, people here are super nice and very welcome to anyone who likes video games!! :D
