Re: Startropics II: Pizza Pizza!

Post by Joseph Staleknight »

On the subject of pizza: My family are nuts for Costco brand pizza and Vocelli's, the former because they have a membership there and are free to shop as they please, the latter because it happens to be both local and pretty good. I haven't asked their opinion on the mainstream chains, but I don't really expect them to like those places that much.

On the subject of Zoda's Revenge: Man, I thought we'd be getting that Tetris piece tetrad today! Ah well, at least most of the level is done. Now to see what's up in that pyramid and potentially fear for our lives.

This was what I was thinking too when I read that. Apparently people from outside the area tend to not like it as much, but I always have to go there whenever I am in St. Louis.

I feel like having a lot of different settings makes this game more interesting to watch. There is also some clear progression, since each world is located more to the future.

Was I the only one expecting the pizza box to be the square tetrad?

a game in which a boy who plays baseball learns a psychic power from a monkey.

Well this and earthbound were developed in the same year, so coincidence, or intentional reference/ripoff? you be the judge.

Papyrus would make sense... I just sorta thought he left the Sahara Desert and entered a jungley area somehow. It would explain the monkey.
That maze looked kinda annoying though. It's like the embodiment of slamming your face against walls until there's somewhere to walk through. I'd question the physics, but... Yeah.

So why is the topic thread subtitle the Hawaiian state fish?

EDIT: Unless the joke is that the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a has as much to do with this game as Zoda's Revenge does at this point, in which case, well played.

Why do people ever assume that my jokes are highbrow?

For the record, the "hippo" in "hippopotamus" means "horse". The full name means "river horse", more or less.

Yup, those Ancients sure were good at naming things. Bonus name: giraffes used to be called 'camelopards.'

The secret of the SMW baby yoshi have been revealed.

But yeah, why are the frogs cyclops? Are they related to Demo?

That might explain why Demo can jump so high... Oh man, this really is ancient history! We've found Demo's ancestors!
Also I don't think I'll ever say giraffe again. Just camelopard.

Also, daggers and axes can't grab items the way yo-yos and morningstars can. Thus they are lamer weapons.

who is this Demo? raocow mentioned some guy called "demo's ancestor" but he killed him. you can't be an ancestor if your dead.

Hippos are indeed called "river horses" in German. Though "nile horse" is also commonly used.

This game is better than the first one in almost every aspect, but... I don't know. I don't "feel" it as much. Maybe it's just Startropics-fatigue, which would suck, because SMBX-fatigue is also a thing right now.

Yeah, I have exactly the same sense. Hard to put it into words without using lame intangibles like 'soul' or 'heart,' but there's something about it that's not as good. So far at least.
