Oh, man, I remember seeing preview vids of this game while it was in development. From what I remember it did seem a bit fanfic-y, but ambitious and at the very least competent.
Looking forward to seeing how it earned such a negative reception :)

Okay, I'm starting to see some glaring flaws, but still nothing to deem the game a failure.

I like how every enemy outside of one dude on a conveyor belt late in the level were in positions where they had no chance of hitting you.

Re: Megaman Eternal: A failure in 17 parts
oh god good luck
played this game back in winter-ish, thought it was "bearable" (actually liked most of the stages, including pretty much all the wily levels) before the last level and just gave up at the final boss. It would've been alright if the creator actually listened to complaints of some of the design, instead of pretty much writting an essay to one of my favorite megaman let's player, pretty much telling him it was wrong for him to have opinions. but yeah, good luck, and prepare for when the creator feels defensive about his game.

Those Sniper Joes are stupid and placed stupid. That boss's invincibility and lightning are stupid; it's like the one guy said, Dynamo Man was the worst part of Mega Man & Bass and this guy is basically that but less telegraphic.

Hack Man from Mega Man DONGS set my expectations of a hacking-themed Robot Master too high; I really should come into these videos with lower expectations.

This game is incredibly flawed. And the creator of it attempted to defend the game by typing long-as-hell responses in the comments instead of admitting it's bad.

Re: Megaman Eternal: A failure in 17 parts
Personally I don't like when Robot Masters are weak to the basic buster except for two cases:
Puns/allusions to the elemental logic of the games, like Cut Man (Rock beats scissors); in this case, that means Tune Manwoman should have been weak to the basic buster because Rock is a better genre of music than whatever that stage was themed around. I would expect theoretical bosses like Glass Panel Man, Egg Man, and Country Man to be weak to the buster as well.
And making gameplay less aggravating, like how Quick Man is weak to the buster because he'd be way too hard otherwise. Guts Man was weak to the buster too, probably for similar reason, even though design-wise he's the least likely candidate for going down in that few shots.
Illuminati Man was neither particularly difficult on his own nor is it particularly logical for stones or the power of rock & roll to overcome his theme. His stage was also a better hacking-themed stage than what Cipher Man had.
