Basically, rpgfan made one of the most infamous levels of malgx the first, and the very first screen is the exact same.

...This is very true (I actually laughed pretty hard when I saw the huge Soldexus meat men abomination things, that was silly).raocow wrote:Soldexus justified itself by providing the 'judge's poop' award banner.Validon98 wrote:Well this was a way to start! I know my level's probably low in ranking but still watching all these troll levels, wow. This one episode makes up for the entirety of Soldexus, heh.
Also now that I am not on my phone, I can be a little more expressive of my hype on things I didn't really say on phone posting. I'm really impressed with having all those different filters (hurray for LunaDLL/LunaLua!) and just the sheer scope of the map. Like MaGLX's hub was something, but this was something else (totally not referencing those ROM hacks whaddya talking about). Like I really can't express how just... like I'm still baffled by how absolutely huge this project is, how it's had to become two separate episodes, just how much work has been put into this project by the Talkhaus and beyond, and not only that, this contest is like... going to be some of the first shown examples of the newer aspects of LunaLua, like CinematicX and so on and so forth, which is an amazing feat in terms of what can be done with the SMBX engine.
I remember back when ASMBXT was first a thing, then A2XT, as well as the first MaGLX. Each one just piled on top more and more impressiveness with the engine, and it just never seems to end. A brilliant, amazing, fantastic job done by those involved. What else can really be said?
EDIT: Oh, you did the monstrosity thing, Horikawa? Well, it fits! And it's pretty dang funny!
Because Touhou OCs can in fact exist, sounds fake I know.

My avvie is ready!
(... okay, I'll probably give that one another shot.)
Anyway that was unreasonably amusing. I'm not sure I've heard raocow laugh so hard before that you couldn't even hear him because he's out of breath. Well done, funny people.
... I'm going to bed now. And possibly lamenting the fact that, at this rate, it'll probably be quite a while still until my level pops up, ahahah...

I really wish the comments simply had a symbol denoting who was who, but I guess I can try to get used to the way it is.. let's see it's Otane, Sturg, Quill right?

OH! I remember it now, that stage was hard as butts! I bet Horikawa is just so excited to reach that in her MAGLX Revisit >.>raocow wrote:Basically, rpgfan made one of the most infamous levels of malgx the first, and the very first screen is the exact same.
But yes, with that reminder, it does give more flavour to his effort. :D Honestly though, I hope he pops up in the MaFAB section. >.>

Ahhh right... I was just as confused at the time as to why that was so immensely comical. I knew the name rpgfan stood out in my mind contest wise but I just couldn't remember from what... Well, as it is now I am proceeding to laugh hysterically and cry rivers at the same time.KayhemMaus wrote:raocow wrote:Basically, rpgfan made one of the most infamous levels of malgx the first, and the very first screen is the exact same.

If it wasn't already, I was planning on requesting making it an option for A2XT Episdoe 2.Horikawa Otane wrote:
Yeah but that was a pain and the lua was really easy to write. Additionally, I wanted it to be toggleable and I don't think you can do that with the hardcoded version.
I'm also likely going to be adding in support so it won't count editor deaths.
Also, my understanding is that it already counts level editor deaths separately, so you shouldn't need to do that.

Re: MaGL X2 - IT BEGAN
So most of the levels in this video are either amusingly short and/or trolly or deliberately crazy. Best way to start off this contest!
Anyway, I'm really digging all the LunaLua used so far, especially with the Judge's Most Hated banners, the control room switches, and the option to simply skip the title screen and head straight into the game. Once it comes out to the public, I cannot wait to play through this thing (and see just how much space it's gonna take up on my computer--it's already crowded enough as is!).

Re: MaGL X2 - IT BEGAN
So with a large portion of all the levels I actually wrote down other notes that I thought up (or it's actually me just rambling) and saved them with all my judgments. This was because there was like a 35 word limit for every comment there were just times where I wanted to say more about a level (whether it be good or bad). There were also times where I felt I had to justify my scores, or just silly little tidbits that went through my head.
Naturally, the bottom levels I didn't have much to say about, so nearly all the levels seen today practically have the same 'grading card' as the ones on the first post. Any level that appears in bold though has some 'additional content' if you will (even if it's not much).

Estate - Learning-Timebuster
Take One Toad By Mouth Every Day - Jelljell1111
Behold, There Is a Presentation! Deceive! - rpgfan4
Dude, I Just Saw a Horse in the Scarlet Devil Mansion! I Gotta Tell My Dad! - Sinc-X
Can We Please Stop Talking About Better Music? If We Don't, the Thwomps Win - Burgers
So yeah, I'll be posting these throughout the contest as we go along and hopefully some of them will be interesting/provide more feedback than the 35 word limit which I sort of get more serious about it later on.
Sweet hub btw, so much interesting tech going on and it's super exciting even as a judge to see everything!!!

Eh, I'd think it'd be better to have it as an option in an options menu in PGE's Engine, along with the tickable options in the SMBX Launcher, controller setup, and volume controls and such.Horikawa Otane wrote:I mean in fairness I think it may be best to just use the Lua version. That way, people can decide on a per-episode (or even per-level) basis whether they want to use it rather than being forced into it. Just a simple import like:SAJewers wrote:If it wasn't already, I was planning on requesting making it an option for A2XT Episdoe 2.Horikawa Otane wrote:

in your lunaworld.lua file would do it for an entire episode =).Code: Select all
local demoCounter = loadAPI("demoCounter")
Also, I recall someone complaining about how the a2xt counter didn't differentiate?
I seem to recall when testing Episode 1 that the demo counter for each level was differentiated when testing it, and each level started with 0 demos, despite having demos in the level editor. Unless you mean total Demos, in which case you're right.
