Two "flavor" levels today and I liked them both. You can't go wrong putting a level in Duck Hunt world, after all. And that'll teach Luigi to bite his food into an L shape!

I'm excited because this means more levels. I'm nervous because the level I designed was fairly short and would likely facilitate such a video.

I think that second level is my new favorite thus far in the contest that was amazing. Some of the jumps looked a bit finicky but overall the platforming was pretty neat and it had flavor just oozing out of the woodwork.

(It's random and nonsensical because it takes place in "Dreamland" i.e. a dream btw)

Also mark me down as 'uh oh I wonder if my level's tomorrow it's short enough for a three-level video D:' too.

My level's not that short, but maybe if it were the first level and raocow was really lucky with it he might go for two more afterwards? I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I was confused because Garish IS Johnson McCain, but since it was a dream I guess it doesn't really matter.
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

silly raocow, afternoon showers let you relax at the end of the day. Anyways yay I made it to the top 50 levels! I'm curious to see just how far I can go now that we're nearing the end of the contest. I really want to know my score and placement after all this waiting. Also the ASMBXT plot is very confusiing as was that second level.

Hey there folks who used cinematX, let me know whether this version works in your levels.

https://github.com/rockythechao/cinematX

Download the zip and merge it into your LuaScriptsLib folder. You'll want to grab the latest versions of npcconfig, colliders and eventu as well if you don't have them already.

The hud graphic should be disabled by default in this version; if you want it to show up in your level, add this line right below cinematX.config in your level's code (or if you didn't use the config function, right underneath the loadSharedAPI calls):

Code: Select all

cinematX.useHUDBox = true
Delightful Adventure Enhanced is out now!

First of all, I would like to state that I am fully aware of the fact that Dreamland is a Kirby location. But... I came up with a concept that worked better with an actual dream, so I went with that. The fact that Nevada forgets what he's doing halfway through the level was also intentional, since dreams tend to be like that.

Also, for those of you who are unaware, many of the things that happened in the level were based on things that people often dream about. The ones about taking a test or discovering that you're not wearing any pants are pretty well known, but it's also pretty common to dream about meeting a celebrity (I was kind of hoping raocow would voice Mailbox) or watching yourself die. Another common dream is being chased, which I decided against including because it would have gone against the more laid back feel of the level. Falling is another common one, but the long drop at the beginning of the level would have been there as a SMB2 reference anyway.

Speaking of the beginning of the level, the SMB1 section was actually an exact copy of the end of the first level in Japan's SMB2 (Lost Levels in the US.) Also, Link almost getting an extra life in the beginning was an accident. I built the climbing section first, then added extra enemies for Link to kill and routed him through it. It just so happened that he killed exactly 8 enemies, but tapped the ground before killing the last one.

Let's see... is there anything else worth noting? Well, it's possible to get through the Scooby Doo room without ever entering a door. The midpoint actually has a custom graphic that is slightly lopsided. And... the room where Nevada watches himself die is a reference to a room in my level from last year, where Mario watches his future self die.

I wonder if that was a reference to that news article awhile back where some kid got suspended from school for biting a poptart into an L shape then pretending it was a gun.

It was.

Also, I forgot to mention the inmate numbers in my previous post because somebody already pointed them out in the comments of the youtube video, but it's probably worth mentioning in this thread that all of the inmate numbers were binary for the character's first initial. Chibicow, Zambabar, Luigi, Broadsword.

We're only 4 levels in and I already have multiple candidates for this world's favorite!

Also I was expecting the 2nd level today to beat mine for sure, but then again I've been surprised for at least 20 or 30 videos now, so I guess my surprise shouldn't be all that surprising.

Enjoyably Hand me a Chain Chomp
Well, that was hilarious. The visual touches with the setting going from the kind of civilized area where you'd expect there to be a pet store to the more standard Mario fare are pretty nice.

Departmental Fix
A fun looking level that does well to provide frequent bombs for busting through, as well as not going too crazy with the bricks to the point of slowing things to a crawl. The showers of brick bits in the final part is pretty great.

Wow! Fats Guys Surrounded Fat Guy
Ahaha, what a name. The level looks pretty good, too. Challenging, but not too much. (though the one transition from left to right near the end might be a bit tough?) Dunno why the author wanted it removed, but I'm glad it stuck around.

Top 5 of MaFAB starts tomorrow :P

I really liked how the first level looked. That kind of bright feeling, yet city-like atmosphere was something I was trying to achieve with the first hub too. Good work making a great intro. The story was silly, and most of its jokes did not even need any words to work. This level had some nice flow to it, and we got to visit a lot of different areas during it too.

The layout of the second level looked pretty neat, and it used those bombs on many different ways. It did not really have any problems as far as I remember, and the setting/setup was good.

The level name was taken literally on the last level, which made it surprising. The start of the level was pretty much perfect. We have not seen propeller blocks used too much, and they worked really well with those enemies too, allowing for some very high and floaty jumps.

A 93, Horikawa?

Anyway, my favorite level today was definitely the Fat Guy one, even if that last jump was kind of awkward.

I've been waiting a while to see raocow's reaction to my level and it was great. I wasn't satisfied with my level at first because it was just some random stuff I threw together in a few hours. I didn't expect it to place higher than 150. I would have made it longer but I started working on it a few days before the deadline. In the end, I'm glad people enjoyed it.

Oh wow. Those three levels today were fantastic. I'm a bit disappointed now because a joke I made in one of my upcoming A2XT levels has now become a raomeme. No idea how that happened. Stop making my predictions come true, raocow!

Such wonderful levels.
