Does raocow play RPGs? aka secret FAQ thread

I kinda think it'd be fun to see raocow playing Fallout New Vegas or something, its kind of rpgish and built with rpg core statistics but is like, the good part of an rpg, the roleplay-ey part over the really boring part

it has the right ratio of "oh jesus" to "oh man look at that guy ahahaha" and itd be interesting to be seen done blind with his style of doing things

also we can tell him in advance that laser guns will turn more people into ash than they will into gory messes to encourage that a bit more, i think he'd be a bit more okay with goo piles everywhere than corpses everywhere

I could see raocow playing a modern, Western RPG like Skyrim, Dragon Age, or Mass Effect because they explicitly eschew the problems mentioned above (primarily by removing turn-based combat and making cutscenes highly interactive), but they're likely all too popular to be considered. I think JRPGs are almost always going to be right out.

I think the other problem with WRPGs for a LP is that they're quite simply far too long for his format. In raocow's format of 15ish minute videos a day, it would probably take him a good year to get something like Mass Effect or Dargon Age.

If non-RPG-related wishful thinking is allowed: I'd love to see raocow play one of the 2D GTAs, preferably 2. It would be a terrible train wreck, but it would also be funny as hell.

Also: Mario Party! Not alone, of course, but in the context of Bwarch's "Talkhaus vs", for example. I have no idea if an online Mario Party exists, but if it does... please?

I'm pretty sure there's a way to get Mario Kart 64 online in emulator, so maybe one of those Mario party games have also been made to work with that.

Clem tells me that netplay with Mario Party works very well. Somebody else tells me that its prone to desyncs too often. Have yet to test it so that I have no opinion myself.

My channel's policy is currently no first party Nintendo titles. So sadly its not likely to see the game in Talkhaus VS, at least my variant of it. (I don't consider myself to own the concept and others are free to use the title whenever/however they like)

I feel like this thread is more for speculation and ideas. The request thread is for serious request things. Most rpg related questions have already been discussed though.

Anyways, glad he will be playing Lisa: The Painful RPG potentially (hopefully) after the next patreon game.

I saw this, said NO FRIKKEN WAY, then got disappointed when I saw it was from 4 years ago. It's about the last RaoPG I would expect outta the channel, not something I would have recommended, but definitely an LP I'd be enraptured watching. That game... is a thing. It's an experience for sure. I'm not sure how else to describe it without spoilers.

Honestly though, I'd watch just about any RaoPG LP. They're new territory, but I enjoyed the flow of M&L SS and figuring out a process for presenting it. Once the process gets streamlined by experience, there's a LOT of goofy games out there that I think would make great LPs.

(LISA is not one of them, making that clear. I love the game, I'd watch it 100%, but I'd expect it to be an "oof" or even "trainwreck" tier LP.)

Isn't LISA 2D? I feel like that would help somewhat from a purely psychosomatic standpoint. Same could be said for Super Paper Mario.

It is, but my concern is its subject matter.

From the word go, LISA is an unrelentingly grim game about all kinds of abuse, physical mental sexual etc. Drug abuse, depression and suicide too. It is an excellent game that works its despair into both gameplay and story, with meaningful choices that echo back into gameplay. The problem is that its subject means it needs about a dozen content warnings before I could recommend it to anyone. Even the humor in it is dark humor, where laughter is the only way you can reconcile the horrible suffering happening to yourself or others. At one point I had an emotional fit lasting 15 solid of mixed laughter, crying, coughing, and bewilderment. What an overwhelming experience.

Sincerely speaking, I would not be surprised at all if an LP of it got dropped due to the subject matter.

I would totally watch raocow play Lisa, mostly because I want to experience the story but find the gameplay unbearably slow. But, as has been pointed out, it's an RPG and it does have a lot of gore (even if it's pixel art and the game doesn't take itself seriously most of the time).

Then again, I didn't follow the Mario & Luigi playthrough, so maybe raocow playing RPGs actually works out super well?
