Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
I can't wait to see Hotel Horror and Old Aquaria. Those are rather puzzlish level, I know, but I used to think they were noteworthy.
Also you can observe raocow's level of skills have truly developed into masterfulness for Mario hacks, which is a pretty cool thing. It kind of makes you wonder how he would fare in the vanilla game.

Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
The original version of Hotel Horror had two extra keys you were required to find in order to open two doors you had to go through to progress, but this was removed since the hack in place for those locked doors bugged out on some people.
That change wasn't for the best though, because the ratio of useless to useful rooms became to big.
Seriously, there is absolutely nothing on floors 1,2,4,6 and 7 in this version of the level.
Also, I always wished there was a pipe in order to return from floor 10 to floor 9.
I do enjoy this level though, and it's pretty clever how he hid the p-switch, especially considering the clue info box you get in floor 3. The final "well" part is awesome too.

Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
After only 3.5 years of French in middle school and the first year of high school (or however you guys call it over there) I was surprised at how much I could understand.
Okay, I completely missed the faster parts like when you where swimming up, but I could tell it wasn't that exciting anyway.
Also, I like the Quebec accent. Like pronouncing six with the i as in fish instead of the French which pronounce the i as ie.. I actually can't think of an English word that uses that sound.. It's pretty common in Dutch though.

Somebody want to put up a transcript of the last half of the video? For us less languagey people?

Incroyable!
I didn't understand much but I like that word.

What the hell kind of boss was that. When you get there you have to have the fireflower so you can just run through and automatically win.
Also, I should've took French in school.

That was surely some way to spice up today's video! considering there wasn't really that much gameplay in the level.. I liked it, specially because I didn't understand anything haha. Some words sound similar to spanish but that was as much as I could make out of the french bit. A lot of your fans have been asking for a vid in french but I think like this, with some minutes of it, was just right.
blep.
Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
I actually decided to watch over bits and pieces of your old playthrough of this right after watching today's video. In fact, I'd recommend people watch that one as well, if only for the last couple of minutes just to see raocow's initial reaction to that then surprise ending.

raocow, translated from French wrote:Aye!
Uhhhhh... So, I go up to floor number 8...
Oh yeah, that's it, the floor number 8 get the fireball, and after that... That's it, Number 8. Go get the fireball iiiiiiiit's right here...
Sooooo I go down here and I avoid the ghosts ~~
Poot poot poot. Go away.
*grumble grumble* Gotta restart that. Tatatata, thank you very much. Go away, ghosts! Go away! Shoo! Shoo shoo shoo or at least give me some room. Good, ok, thanks. OK, OK, good. The fireball. Firrre. And then I go to the 10th floor tooooooo press the switch. Nine, ten. Thaaaaank you very much, floor number ten yes that's it, I press the switch, kapoot.
Now I jump down the WINDOW! And we go to... I don't know if I should have took two flowers in reality... gah, dammit! *grunt* Floor number nine... Throw yourself down... Come on come on come on. Come on come on come on. Come on come on come on. Come on come on come on. Good. Floor number nine, to throw yourself downwards to the 5th floor. Poot, poot, poot. Oh my god, it's a window! Incredible! Nine, eight, seven, six, five. Poot poot poot OK now I gotta... not lose my fire ball, thaaank you very much. *laughter* Oooooookay, lalalalalala, oops, lalalalala, lalalalala, la, la. Now I have the BUTTON! Yep, that's why there's a pipe system, it's so I can go down to the lobby. Where are we now? Well I imagine that we should be at six, we should be at four, now we should be at three I imagine. Yeah that's it, three. Second flooor, go down the stairs, oh man it's incredible! Poot poot poot, hello Mr.Ghost. OK now we go down to the lobby. Argh! Now we go to the furnace room, in the basement, where it's pitch-black and hairy, and now we can go there and we can finally - aye, break all of this and descend into the well!
AND IT'S NOT OVER THERE'S 30 SECOND LEFT! OH NO! HA! YOU WANTED TO HELP US? WE FOOLED YOU! NOW YOU ARE TRAPPED! YOU WILL DIE IN A FEW SECONDS LIKE WE DID YEARS AGO!
Oh no~! Yep, and now we go down in the underground, and it lasts a while, and it's like, I'm like, I have 13 seconds, but it's like of reason, it takes a while to get here. Does the time stay there or - ah, freaking crap. WHOA! Ok, well they're - Oh there is when you enter the TV. OKAY! That's what I was thinking about! Again: I was all getting mixed up by my memories of this world! Oh we're in the well! AHHhhh! The well got filled with water! I-It's incredible. Well, it's fun that I had a hit to take there because I didn't have much choice but to have an extra hit there so I imagine that it's made so on purpose. That it's like - oooooh, two lives! Do I, in reality, get those two lives? Oooh! THANK YOU very much! Hahaha! So that's it, it's made so, it's made, after they made the puzzle they... they didn't have a choice to put the monster there because of the story of this world, to make it... quote unquote "scary", since FPI he... he isn't a dick like that.
So next time I think I'll do this level, Kirby World, since it must like, one exit will go back there, one will go there and the other will go like that. Like and that.
So this is raocow! Join me next time - I don't know if it'll be tomorrow, like I said at the beginning of the video about the job, but uhh... NEXT TIME! See y'all.

Haha that's awesome.
Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
I got most of that, globally. But it's nice to read the details and notice that he's exactly the same in French as he is in English. On video at least.
Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
Just watched Episode 15, with Devil's Rock level.
I kept imagining the 'devil' layer 2 was, like, the same amount of jaw drop I did when I saw blue waffle.
Love this LP so far. I'm actually really enjoying myself.

The only French I understand is anything that would be used to order food, tell people you can't speak French, tell people you wish to sleep with them and tell people you're a transvestite. so I only got like 1% of what raocow was actually saying.

I'm PRETTY sure that most of nintendo's desert levels had a lot of pipes, at least in world 7.kilon wrote:I know this issue has been addressed before, but why do 99% of the desert levels (in general) involve pipes and piranha plants?
Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
Oh wow. XD I was definitely NOT expecting today's episode, so this was quite the treat! Mon vocabulaire du Français est tres petit, buuuut I could at least pick up some of what was being said. Kudos to Mandew for actually translating all of that though, dang! XD Heck, I was even not hinted at what was going to happen since I tend to watch raocow's videos from his website (thus not noticing the title being all French).
I find it pretty stupid how many people (in the YouTube comments at least) are complaining so much about the French. I mean really... I found it funny at least, and even if I could not understand it, I could still here the practically dripping sarcasm in a few points. XD Some people just whine too much I suppose.
...as for the level itself... just... UGH! XD So huge... so empty... Ah well, tomorrow is Kirby shenanigans, so a happier raocow is to be anticipated I would think!

I'd rather not see a video tomorrow for a possibly even happier raocow.Pink wrote:...as for the level itself... just... UGH! XD So huge... so empty... Ah well, tomorrow is Kirby shenanigans, so a happier raocow is to be anticipated I would think!

Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
The only complaint i had with all the french, was not the fault of raocow, but the fact my french lessons are very slow, if we are learning stuff i already learnt like, 2 or 3 years ago...
If i want to learn more about the world, school isnt a good idea.

Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
You'd think the commenters would have realised by now Rao's French Canadian...
Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
This is true as well... poor guy's gone long enough without a job, so I too will be hoping for the best. Good luck, raocow! =n.n=kilon wrote:I'd rather not see a video tomorrow for a possibly even happier raocow.

Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
While the trying to understand the French woke me up, the level itself made me want to go back to bed. I wasn't exactly sure what I was feeling this morning. Holy crap.
I'm really nice.
Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
Wow, that was certainly something.
Thanks, years of French, I understood everything! Hahaha, now I know why it is mandatory to learn French here! They foresaw this episode coming many many years ago!

Re: HACK - THREAD: feat. the TSRP2 thread
Watching this run has convinced me of something I already kind of knew. For the resources available at the time, the TSRP hacks were and still are two of the best made ones out there. You've got me wanting to try my hands at them on my own time.
