Oh boy, let's see how the Japanese handle vanilla SMBX. Should be interesting to see how well they learned the engine.

I'm not going to put the rest of the episodes here, too much of a bother to edit the OC every day. Who ever goes back to the OC just for links, anyway? That's what raocow.com is for.

Re: SMBX: SMBX Japan; Horikawa lives there!
ive played some of this and yknow how Japanese SMW hacks always know the most obscure and ludicrous bugs? well expect to learn a thing or two (or maybe just one idk) about SMBX
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

Re: SMBX: SMBX Japan; Horikawa lives there!
It feels good to finally claim another SMBX topic. Though I feel I could make a more witty and better subtitle. Ideas?

The reason for that being SMBX doesn't support Japanese characters because redigit is racist or something idk.Horikawa Otane wrote:Oh and FYI, the English in the message boxes was already there

I figure it has something to do with either the font used or the encoding scheme used. If it's ascii then japanese characters aren't actually possible, and if it's a custom font he probably just didn't think about implementing japanese characters. cause hey, it's not like anyone from japan will be using this engine!!!Zyglrox Odyssey wrote:The reason for that being SMBX doesn't support Japanese characters because redigit is racist or something idk.Horikawa Otane wrote:Oh and FYI, the English in the message boxes was already there

Maybe it could have been written in romaji and we would have fun figuring out what it all means by sound alone.

A Japanese SMBX game you say? Oh-ho! Another distraction from doing my own SMBX stuff! :'D

Yep. All the text boxes and level names are in Engrish; just some of the graphics that have text on them are in Japanese, plus that one level Imentioned.Horikawa Otane wrote:From what little I know, there's no Japanese in the textboxes or level names written in romaji. I believe it's because the "font" for text is actually just a graphic, not an actual font.Zyglrox Odyssey wrote:The reason for that being SMBX doesn't support Japanese characters because redigit is racist or something idk.Horikawa Otane wrote:Oh and FYI, the English in the message boxes was already there
I actually think the early game is really neat. Aside fromHorikawa Otane wrote:
Like VIP, this project starts off really kinda lame, but gets really neat (and hard) in the later game. Expect a very VIP-like LP. Lots of laughing, lots of bad design, lots of neat design, and lots of pain.

, I found the main game very enjoyable, and there was a lot of neat ideas, especially in the early and mid game.the post game though, is entirely different story. Here's the penultimate postgame level if you're interested (if you were in IRC last night, you would've heard my gripes with it.

haha, raocow did the exact same thing I did in level 2. (IIRC, if you take the top route, you can just jump down). Also, World 1 is incredibly short.
For those interested here's the Trailer I found:

So how will this series work? Will it be every Thursday or be updated everyday like his other projects. I know this is a patreon series.

it's like any normal series, it's just that it was decided by the pats.
(basically thanks the pantreon and all that I can do a b-side)

Probably has something to do with a lack of unicode support considering that even Terraria didn't have proper unicode support (or even support for non-Qwerty keyboards iirc) for several updates after its release.Zyglrox Odyssey wrote:The reason for that being SMBX doesn't support Japanese characters because redigit is racist or something idk.Horikawa Otane wrote:Oh and FYI, the English in the message boxes was already there

Heads up for anyone who downloads; it comes with SMBX.
I don't know if anything in particular is different about it, but if it isn't, be prepared to delete some redundant files if you already have SMBX onstalled.

I was confused by that at first, until I realized that changes were made to the translation after this thread was made. Horikawa probably edited the message to fit the thread titleSebby19 wrote:Horikawa Otane wrote:Hey there everyone, this is Horikawa. I live here
