Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
Will there be unabridged session MP3s now that the first session has ended? The list of episodes on the first post could also use some updating.

Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
We decided not to upload unabridged sessions after all. It's a lot more fun in-session when we don't have to worry about not saying things that we don't want public. (and actually, there were seven play-sessions in the first "season". I've started marking the beginning/end of sessions with the pause sound effect to make that clearer.)
But yeah, the OP's a bit out of date since Horikawa's been focused on MAGLX2 stuff (and etc). It'll get patched up eventually probably.

I for one consider how you've started doing that in editing to be rather nice.Ditocoaf wrote:I've started marking the beginning/end of sessions with the pause sound effect to make that clearer.

I'm bad at the "art thing" but I hope this gives you enough life force to survive until something better comes up...Ditocoaf wrote: Fanart is our life force.

How many times has Caesar been shot at this point?! Stepping on that gun in the ally, then the fireball incident in the Rusty Mushroom, then during the Yoshi attack, and now a brutal mob assassination attempt! Dito, if your character survives this, buy a hammer bros. suit with a bulletproof/fireproof shell!
Every time I think "their situation can't possibly get any worse", Horikawa rolls the dice and starts laughing...
I'm really enjoying this series!!!!
Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
Okay, headcanon to celebrate the newly-named Bird Points:
And fanart for said headcanon:
the albatoss that Caesar crashed into was Derryyll's partner-in-crime (literally) before they became incarcerated. the albatoss got off on a lighter sentence, and is currently being a productive member of society. he still regularly visits Derryyll, though. he might not know that Derryyll's freedom is being negotiated at this point.

Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
I just started listening to the first episode of this today. Just got the part where the rules are being explained. The system sounds quite a lot like FATE, which is a tabletop system I've wanted to try out for a while (but haven't been able to make any games). This is certainly something different from the usual raocow video series, so it should be fun.

Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
the first session (which is a few episode) is super awkward due to all of us not really knowing one another yet but things get better when get all grow more at ease.

Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
Yeah, that sounds like tabletop in general in my experience. Even if you know the people you're with things can be a little awkward as everyone gets used to the setting and mechanics. Admittedly, I don't have much experience with tabletops, but I've played a few sessions of D&D-style games, which were pretty fun, especially towards the end.raocow wrote:the first session (which is a few episode) is super awkward due to all of us not really knowing one another yet but things get better when get all grow more at ease.

I love playing tabletops, they're great fun to do, and lead to all sorts of shenanigans. At the same time, though, there's plenty of fun to be had from great tabletop stories, and so far it seems like there are plenty of those ahead in this series. Looking forward to hearing them all.
EDIT: Also, the more I hear of this, the more I'm convinced that this system actually is FATE. It was a system designed to work across basically any setting, with each character spending and receiving FATE points to counter or work with their predefined personality quirks. It always seemed like such a great concept to allow more game for the characters, and I've been meaning to get into a FATE game for years (there just hasn't been one available).

Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
I was trying to sleep and in my crazy mind that rolls because that's what happens when you try to sleep I started thinking that the party needs an antagonist. Something to drive them to do whatever. Then it dawned on me... BOOLINA! After everything that's been happening in the past bunch of episodes, it would be awesome to see her become the main villain the group has to deal with. I hope that whatever Horikawa-bosslady has in mind involves something of the sort.
Never heard of that system but if you're willing to GM one, I'm in! I've been looking for a group to play with for ages since I haven't had a D&D group for a very very long time and I miss it. *Sad Face Emoticon!* (Or did kids change that to emojis these days? MAN I'm old!)Hoeloe wrote:I've been meaning to get into a FATE game for years (there just hasn't been one available).
Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
I wanted to make this after a certain point, but i grew impatient
I'd love to try it out too, my only problem is I never played any type of D&D game before.Shinoda wrote:Never heard of that system but if you're willing to GM one, I'm in! I'm not sure I'm the best person to GM. I've never played a game with that system before, and have basically no GM experience either. Ah well.Shinoda wrote:Never heard of that system but if you're willing to GM one, I'm in! Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
True enough. I'd like to be on the receiving end of GM shenanigans at least once first, though, if I can.Horikawa Otane wrote: Everyone has to GM their first game sometime.

Re: A Super Mario Tabletop Thing
I'd be willing to GM something. Problem is, I only have experience with D&D 3.5, OWoD and a few errant homebrews.Hoeloe wrote:I'm not sure I'm the best person to GM. The downside of 3.5 and OWoD (VTM in particular) is that the rules and setting aren't very malleable... It would be difficult to make, say, a Mario themed game out of them unless we agree to make some modifications and ignore a few things to make it possible. The OWoD system for example, would work well if shave off things like powers and such and stick with basic character sheet.
