Man, I know people have said that the rankings don't really matter in this contest, but... Worldpeace totally deserved way, way higher than that. Like, definitely in the top 5, at the very least. Maybe even #1. A bummer, really.

He definitely deserved to be in the top 5. One of the judges gave the level a perfect score, whereas the "infamous" judge rated it substantially lower. It's a real bummer.
(I mean, the top 8 are great and all, but the fact that this isn't there is a bit of an insult. Even tomorrow's level probably deserves to be there given how creative it is.)

I do hope we'll see the secret exit of Cavern of Pandora (the part after the midpoint raocow gave up trying to fathom after one try).

Yeah... I just finished the semi-kazio run. It's Suuuuuper good. Very puzzly secret exit that empties into a (?) ball. If raocow doesn't object, I could upload the solution... What do you say RC?
Give it a try or watch a spoiler?

Well that was a really creative use of vanilla resources. Though what in the world did he use for the arrow graphics?

He used an animation tileand Lunar Magic. Vines wiggle, coins oscilate... lotsa animations to choose form. He made a generic tileset and edited it to look like an arrow. The animation tilesets are frame-by-frame dealios. So, just like the majestic muncher plant, it was created, and placed over the starting snake block... the one that was exposed anyhow.
The custom tileset was bundled with other "things" by the SMWCentral guys and out comes a masterpeice with a kick-awesome secret exit that raocow didn't even see.

I know the animation and stuff and how he did it. I meant "what graphics did he use" since I didn't recognize them from the base game. Though apparently he used a custom tileset from what you're saying at the end there though. Which brings to mind the question of how it's really vanilla if it's using a custom tileset unless you meant it was modified by the base game. (In which case my original question still stands.)

I'm going to speculate.
The stem part is a segment of the midpoint pole. The arrow part is two corner pieces typically used as land masses of some sort. Then all that needed to be done is the whole recoloring and the flashy flashy.

see I probably would have given more thought to the other passage thing if I had known, running theme in this series, that there was a secret exit. I thought it was an alternate for a prize, like earlier shots of alternate stuff.
I'll give it a look tomorrow.

Maybe someone should give you a list of all the levels with Secret Exits.

I hope not because that would mean morceau would stop dropping a snarky comment about raocow's playing after every video, haha

Well, he did make Cool Or Cruel which, despite being super kaizo, is SUPER creative and amazing. I think genius is a good word to describe him.
It is a shame that he was not higher up, but unless you can get a large sample size of unbiased judges to vote for placements and actually have it well organized, you are going to have this sort of problem where a good level is lowered due to preference. However, that sort of judging system is only implementable in a perfect society, so...

People are mentioning Cool or Cruel, which seems like something interesting I might want to try out (especially given worldpeace's level, which made awesome use of the eater sprite). However, it seems the page for downloading the .ips won't load, and only Tubular seems to be on SMWC at all. Is there any other sort of link to it, or is it effectively not currently on these interwebs properly anymore?

Here's the original song.

The port is based on the midi sequenced by DORKAS who uploaded the above video.

Your words, given you are the author of the hack, do not inspire me with much confidence. ^_^;;
EDIT: ...Oh my god getting past the opening screen the "proper" way is such a pain in the ass, hoooly crap. I... am kind of amazed I pulled it off legit (well, after several tries, with my only successes being *after* the game made my lives underflow, which meant even when I did it "right", I just got booted back to the damn title screen). worldpeace, whyyyyyyyyyyyy.
