Green Muncher Land made me crack up to an unbelievable extent

It's a level a little kid would make except the spelling and grammar are pretty much perfect so I dunno.

Well, I remember exactly two levels from this contest (one of them for being really annoying, and the other is my own), so... hooray? Also just about everyone on SMWC seems to have already agreed that the judging for this one turned out kind of weird, so I'd suggest that people not pay all too much attention to the exact placements and maybe a bit of the usual arguing can be skipped this time?

And I'm fairly certain that this is the only SMW hack that has an online leaderboard. (well, sort of)

I like the sub-overworld for the shit levels and its music. The main overworld is alright too. I think the themed OW is a good idea: by not having them in order there's less scope for arguments about whether level X really deserved to score 0.25 more points or whatever than level Y. At that level of score similarity and without an objective marking system you might as well just call them equal.

Oh man, I remember this hack. I remember trying to beat it and failing because I'm terrible at SMW. This is going to be pretty awesome and fun at times!
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

Oh man that muncher level was so great. So many ARBITRARY places that serve no place, where your only hope of beating it is to go everywhere and try every single thing to you find that one place that leads to progress! So amazing, I can't believe it didn't get last in this contest. Although I guess an unfair level is worse. So I guess it's fine where it is.

Edit: Oh, by the way, the time limit was one of the main issues with this type of level. Seriously, why even have that if your aim is for the player to look around wildly til he finds it by chance.

Regarding the first level: we actually had to add in a goal sphere because it's next to impossible to beat legit. If I recall, it's about six sublevels full of stuff that's exponentially worse than the initial area shown in the video. There's another level coming up (perhaps tomorrow?) that's almost equally as bad in terms of length, but it smooths out a lot after that.

Is there a video somewhere showing off a winning run of that level? Curious to see the whole level.

This is the closest I could find, but I believe some parts were changed in the final version.

Err, so in the event you find yourself putting your sanity through Hostel, as the level creator I have to mention that the Hostel level in the collab hack isn't the correct level and is incomplete, meaning it isn't what the judges played. Either way, it will terrible times.

If you do play through Hostel though, I ask that you play the original. Though I warn you, it will take a toll on you.

What? The Hostel level was only 'sorta-complete'?

I have to walk throuhg THAT kind of hell again if I have to. For now, let me gather the rest of my courage to prepare for that. (or is it just me being a wimp...)

Only 25% of the level was correctly inserted in the hack.

I mean, all parts of the level is in the hack. But the exits where screwed up, so the entrance door actually sends you to the last 1/4 of the level. Reason why it seems like the player just gets thrown into a mess of things; they were supposed to be introduced to the player before that.

But yeah it's long. Like, reaaaaaally long. 4-levels-in-1 long. With difficulty that was sewn for more adept players, and pace that's more suited for old NES castlevania games.

Woah, raocow's going to play something with a level I made in it? It's only been FOUR (omfg geez) years since the last time that happened.

Anyway, welcome to the 7th VLDC, where the judging is wonky, the worstest level map is significantly better than what was originally submitted, there's a lot of nice custom music made specifically for the hack that most people chose to ignore, and a few worst world-tier levels slipped into the official worlds! Heck yeah!

Edit: Oh, and there's going to be occasional really weird cut-off in some of the levels because this contest happened not too long after Lunar Magic gained new functionality that treats midpoints as objects. Still gives me a chuckle.

My tip of the day is that you can use the goal orb in Nice Ice Adventure to save the midpoint of any other level.

What we're going to see a case of soon (once we get out of the "worst" world) is that there are a couple levels that should have actually been placed there. The 75th place entry in particular is actually quite decent compared to, say, one of the 65th places. There aren't many cases of wonky judging like that, but the ones that are will be very obvious when they appear.

Also, tomorrow's level is likely going to be a trainwreck.

I just picked a random number that was slightly higher than 75th.

Point being, one of the entries coming up really doesn't belong on the map and at least two of the entries we'll see later do.

Regarding those switch blocks: I saw the Switch Palace icons on the map, but are there actually functional Switch Palaces in the game?
This fits me far too well:
