Oh, neat! Yeah that sounds like the perfect situation for starting a patreon thing.

I think being a professional videogamesman would be cool, you enjoy saying stuff on the internet and now you're getting money from it in the Modern Internet Way instead of some archaic ye olde machinima manner.

Not speaking from experience here, but being an Internet Personality usually isn't lucrative enough to make a whole living.
It can certainly help pay the bills, but since the income relies upon the person and selling them self, people can find their income fluctuating or falling flat if they do something to piss people off.
Think about new actors trying to make a living by landing roles. They have trouble making ends meat, and they usually have a talent agency to rely on to sell them.
Enough doom and gloom though
Congrats rao on your belief in us, and we all hope you succeed going forward :3

You could post some of the videos you create to the patreon, so that people can see them there too.

Like others have said, I wouldn't exactly be surprised if the amount drops sharply in a month or two once some of the bigger pledges get over the initial "oh man, I can directly support one of my favorite LPers" thing.
Still, getting over $1000 in like 3 days is pretty impressive. I guess that's what happens when you produce entertaining content on a daily basis for free for the better part of a decade.

It remains to be seen whether that amount is going to drop after the first month but considering it has only been a few days and he's up to a thousand dollars per month currently it doesn't currently look like he has much to worry about. And even if it does drop it seems unlikely to drop enough anytime soon that he'd have to do more than get a part time job to supplement his income from Patreon.

And keep in mind that rao said his savings were in pretty dang good shape, which is why he quit his job to begin with. So he can probably experiment and see what works with patreon, and if it doesn't work he will have a good bit of time to grab a job.
(Man, I know you've talked about all these details yourself rao but this still feels weeeeird to be talking about such personal stuff haha. My apologies if any of us are overstepping personal boundaries on you.)
Me personally I think that if he managed to get up to 1k in just a few days he's going to be able to do patreon as his fulltime job no problem, a dream come true perhaps, eh rao?

I wasn't saying anything about rao's situation in the paragraph, it was mostly a general statement made in response to Gyra's comment
In rao's case, I don't see any of the troubles for the foreseeable future :3

You lied to me, raocow!

oh, I think I misunderstood what you meant to say back in the castlevania thread! I didn't quit BECAUSE of patreon, I started patreon BECAUSE I quit my job.

This is one more thing for raocow to talk in a Retsutalk if that ever happens.

According to a thing raocow said in the comments on the announcement video, he kind of had a nervous breakdown at work and quit for health reasons.

You should make your video paintings available for patrons to download and use as wallpapers, etc.
I'm assuming people will like that??? I find those sorts of things interesting.

So, raocow, I noticed that you don't seem have a link to your patreon in your actual Youtube channel/profile thing. I dunno how much difference it'd make to put the link there, but it can't hurt, right?

I got the charge yesterday, so I guess it's working?
Anyway what ever happened to the answering questions thing or whatever? Is that still a thing? Cause there are a bunch of questions on the "hey hey hey" page but none have been answered!
