Guys. Stop trying to make raocow focus on the money. :P That's not really his style and is honestly one of the main reasons he's doing so well with this.

That's making it more like a Kickstarter reward though. Patreon rewards usually have to be something that people will commit to. That would end up just being people pledging $25 one month, naming a video, and then cancelling their pledge right after they get to name a video.
If there was going to be a video naming thing it would have to be handled via 1-time donations or something. Regardless, having strangers name his videos would probably just turn into a mess.

A3XT - 25 - everybody check out xXx420nosc0peGamerxXx's channel his videos are the best
Megaman 11 - 8 - hi mom!! -poopface6969
Minecraft - 427 - fuck you raocow nobody likes you!!

That made me laugh... I can imagine raocow playing Minecraft... for 427 episodes...

In a different note, theer was a few posts earlier about Twitch. I know if raocow went on there, he would DESTROY the competition in the non-speedrunning SMW Romhack department (Virus610 is really the only one with some popularity who does it) in a matter of days just with his regular youtube subscribers (the portion of us that do watch him every day) and, of course, the talkhaus. Twitch works by putting the person with the most viewers on top of the list when someone goes on the game's page. I'd be willing to bet the 25 cents I have in my pocket right now that raocow would be the top when he goes on and starts streaming/recording. Also, the more viewers and followers a person has, the more likely people are going to go watch. With his regularity and pre-existing fanbase, he could get Twitch partnership (or whatever the thing that allows you to get the sub for 5 bucks option is called) in no time.

Also, Behind the scenes/Raw raocow would be amazing to watch. He doesn't need to pay attention to the chat since the majority of us will know he's doing it to record his footage. So I vote Livecow on Twitch in addition to Patreon.

Only one message to you, raocow. Don't let capitalism get the best of you. if you find yourself thinking "What could I change in order to make even more money" in a greedy mindset once your basic expenses and good pocket money is stable, take a step back and think about it. We want to support you, but we don't want to turn you into sellout. You're doing great so far but evil capitalism is at every corner like a reskined bullet bill in a narrow tunnel.

I can stream at about the quality he normally does his videos with my internet... and I also live in Quebec where we only have a few options for ISPs. I have a 1mbps upload. It sucks but as long as it's not 1080 60fps, playing online with a massive AAA game (CPU and GPU hogs), it's possible. I don't know his situation though so I can't really comment.

Congrats, raocow! Remember, if people didn't really really want to donate here, if they didn't have the means, they wouldn't. But a lot of people apparently are free to say "thank you" with a 1-5 dollars! Also, it's cheaper than, like, buying movies or Hulu subscriptions or whatever.

For the video-choosing, here's the method I suggest:
Once a month, make a patreon post where you collect nominations in the comments. Then, once a month, make a patreon post with a poll, including all the stuff you were already considering for b-side plus any new nominations. Make it the kind of poll where people can check off as many or as few answers as they'd like. Then, after a certain amount of time, lock down that poll and you have your answer!

He could lay down some ground rules on title names, such as "no self-promoting", "no profanity", "no hate speech", and "no political messages." I know some Patreons that will do custom things as long as they don't violate certain guidelines.

This is what my ISP claims to be 25down/2up internet.
I'm pretty sure this is actually being generous because it can barely load text pages for me at the moment.

Phew. I've had that sort of internet before (i.e. Let's wait twenty minutes to load 1 minute of 240p video). I wish you the luck that I had in that an actually good ISP came to Ireland. Government funded ISPs are just... yeah... I feel sorry for people here that aren't covered by the new ISP yet.

I'm hoping Google remembers that there are more countries in the world than USA and releases Fiber in a few other places. They don't even need to release it everywhere, just a few places, and as long as it's somewhere near you, chances are, ISP's will be forced to up their internet plans like crazy.

Even better: Google could just put every ISP out of business cause they're all garbage and they could have a monopoly of fast internet.
That could probably go terribly but I don't think it can't get worse than the ISP situation in most places right now.

We had (until extremely recently) a monopoly in Aus on who controlled the hardware for the internet - cables and all that - with the connections being serviced by competitive private companies. We're now replacing it with another monopoly. The upshot is that the average age of a cable in the network is now 35 years. Private monopolies are always bad, without exception.

I think the biggest downside to live streaming would probably be that he couldn't edit out all the boring/repeated parts like he usually does. Otherwise, it might be pretty entertaining.

I propose that raocow allows people to pay 50$ per hour to play videogames with him on camera.

Another problem would be that it'd be easier for people to tell raocow how to play the games or where to go. Done in moderation or to help him figure out unexplained controls or super obscure secrets, it's fine, but we all know it'd go much farther than that. Viewers would constantly push for raocow to go find some secret he missed 5 minutes ago and tell him where to go and what to do without letting him figure it all out on his own, and it'd be tougher for him to ignore it. The only way he could would be to disable the chat on whatever streaming site he uses (or just not enter the chat), but at that point he'd be better off just not streaming at all since there'd be no interaction with the chat, which is the whole point of streaming! However, at the same time, moderators can be set in streams, who can then punish those who keep trying to backseat play or spoil raocow. There's pros and cons to it; do the methods of dealing with spoilers outweigh the fact that they'll exist?

Later. After the first 'Choose a B-side poll' Soldexus better be on that list. ;)

This might be a personal question but I'm just curious: I know you didn't really like your last job, but do you still have some other career position you want to have in the future, while patreon supports you in the interim? Or do you want to make LPing your "main job" for the time being?

The other day I checked PinkKittyRose's patreon page, and it looks like she still works, with the patrons' money helping her fund her purchase of more games and related equipment.

I'm surprised you quit your job before even the first month of patreon went through. I'd be unendingly worried it wasn't stable. But this number just keeps going up, so I guess that's a good sign. I hope it works out for you!

He quit his job before starting patreon. I assume he was planning on finding another job later on.
