The actual music (i.e. compositions) in HoD isn't bad, it just has poor sound quality.
I basically like that game but it is very "run around all over the place with little idea of what to do"

I like that style of map design too. It would have been even better if the powerups and equipment had been more interesting to reward exploration more, but it followed SotN's tradition of making them mostly bland. There weren't even different weapons. All whip, all the time. The spellbooks were more interesting, but being tied to subweapons made experimenting with them a pain in the butt.

Much like Mega Man II (Game Boy)!

HoD has hilarious spells and easily adjustable difficulty due to the high power variance between spells, and that's really cool, but you easily get lost and it's really tedious because there's lots of resilient enemies that stand in your way so you need to kill them every time you reenter a room. If my memory serves me right.
I never knew about that Ouroboros.
That thing would be so neat as a regular pet.
Does wolf contact damage scale with your weapon?
If so, I could imagine that one might be able to abuse throwing weapons' high attack stats, by just holding one while dashing.
I noticed that the room transition removed the Dark Metamorphosis effect. That's pretty weird.
What element of damage do nova skeletons inflict?
are troll laser tongues a homestuck thing
I never knew the Osafune could do that. It's beautiful.

I didn't know about the rainbow sword. I think the game will be a little more fun to watch when Alucard actually takes damage from the enemies.

The room with the Beryl Circlet is what raocow unlocked by going through that one tunnel both as a bat and as a wolf.

That plant thing was hitting for over 30 HP repeatedly with or without a shield, so there you go.

You say this but raocow was kinda having his ass kicked there by one of the plant ladies until he mist formed. Cause by that logic he shouldn't be mist forming either since it avoids damage. Or using his shield or backdashing. (Not that he ever seems to backdash when it be useful anyways.)

Glad you enjoy the osafune as much as I did, cowrao. Now you need to use a few shurikens and you will be a true ninja.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet (maybe they have in Youtube), but the thing where your map wasn't filling in those watery areas is basically just a camera issue. To get those spots added to your map, you have to turn into a wolf and back at the top of the water. You might have to do that repeatedly, I can't remember exactly.
Yes, it's silly, and pointless other than for increasing your map percentage.

raocow receives too strong a dose of anime with the katana and goes into coughing fits.

Nova skeletons inflict hit damage, and a lot of it. Like I don't think there's any other attack in the game that does that much in a single hit.
trolls aren't actually firing lasers, that's their tongue. They make this more obvious in the later games.
the shield rod+alucard sheild combo is literally a instant win button programmed into the game. If you want to actually see what it does, save before a boss and try it, then reset and try the fight for real.

Really? I figured it'd be Holy and/or Fire damage since that's what the beam's elements are in Order of Ecclesia. (Where it ALSO does tons of damage whether used by you or the skeletons! And they're still just as deadly~)

You also actually have to use the Shield to even find out it did anything, something raocow didn't think to do!

Ah, good old Nitesco.
I always used it with a sword glyph to use the Nitesco sword special attack. (because the double Nitesco attack consumes way too much hearts)

Oh, I'm so happy he found the katana. Rainbow teleport is probably my favorite attack in the game.

I HATE those plant ladies so much. There just doesn't seem to be any effective way of dealing with them other than just misting past them. Or maybe I'm just an idiot.

There's always a gap where thier vines wont spike up to impale you, and the flowers are easy to jump over/block. You can also just jump past them in most instances. axe subweapon and other ranged attacks work well since the vines can stop you from coming close.

They're not that difficult. Use a shield to block the stuff they throw then watch where the tendrils are going to pop up on the ground and make sure to keep between them. You might also be able to knock their projectiles out of the air as well but I don't actually know whether or not that one is true.

The Alucard Shield's shield rod ability makes it bulldoze.

It was so refreshing to hear raocow laugh today. For a while it seemed like he just wasn't enjoying the game at all.
Despite having finished this game about 29 times, I've never used the Alucard Shield + Shield Rod combo. I should try it

You know, raocow, you can still go to the shop. You can teleport between the two castles, and yes, the library card still works.

Do you get something for defeating all the Octopi?
