this is the place where lps are being talked about. it's important to talk about games being played on the internet.

Can also confirm Aria of sarrow is good regardless of nostalgia goggles, and had a fun time just running through using only what i got as random drops worked just fine. the one time i did willingly grind a particular soul I wanted however took forever, but i think its just specifically that monster having a horrible drop rate.

Playing two long Castlevania games in a row might be a little to much.

This, certainly. I'd love to see raocow play Aria, but not immediately (or even soon) after SotN.

And that's the end of raocow's blind LP of a classic.

Words I either forgot or didn't use for the thread title that rhymes with "night" (as far as I know): White, Wight, and Plight. With that, there still were bound to be repeats. Might, Blight, and Knight are the most common, with 3 each.

Also, a combination of all of raocow's titles for this LP:
Beginner's luck's ran out of the loop hole towering knowledge status: unstable's turned birdlord of time occasionally space of monster death by compassion (aka; a holy rampage) in the clocktower, eww old people, birds, it's all the same result in the endsville V: fun in hello old friends to all animals followed by a hurricane everyone dance the dance of death death central spot massacre of raocow's being on you best foot in the door to somewhere (pointless) done then I'd hope you like ninjas my hunger grows a new fear the coyote man, he didn't even beg.

Man it's a shame the PSP port doesn't have the so-cheesey-it's-awesome credits song "I am the Wind". You missed out on the literal best part of the ending, raocow!

Man Dracula is a lazy final boss, couldnt even be bothered to get out of his demon chair to fight his own son. Fun game, but it kinda goes off with a wimper.

There's a lot of neat easter eggs raocow hasn't seen yet. I could post them after work, if anyone cares , or if someone doesn't lists them before i get back.

Congrats on getting through the game. The difference for getting greater than 196% isn't worth it. I said it in the comments the other day that it was interesting watching you play it piecemeal style because I'll generally go flying through these games once getting into them. Taking it in with smaller play sessions really allowed the game's flaws to stand out in a way I wouldn't have seen otherwise, so go figure.

The only thing I wish I saw raocow do that I didn't was use the Alucard shield's bulldoze mode.

Otherwise, good run, dude; reminds me a lot of my first run (including spoilers slowly leaking in from my friends through the woodwork).

Hey there everyone, it's my first post in Talkhaus, and i wanted to congratulate Raoh for beating the game WITHOUT using shield rod bulldozer, Shmoo death sword funtime and other even more broken shenaningans. This game is really hard to not break :L

And so... that ended kinda on a bit of a whimper. I'll say this game and LP did give me some amount of incentive to try out the series more than I have, but to be honest I don't think I'd finish up SotN myself. I'm satisfied just leaving it at the normal castle, because the inverted castle... yeah, that was a good idea executed rather poorly. Maybe if the difficulty was balanced a little better, and there was more things going on other than "find the pieces of Dracula, go fight final boss", it would have made a better second half. But as it stands... yeah...
Because Touhou OCs can in fact exist, sounds fake I know.

I can't change my username but I go by Vali/Claire now (aka call me Vali or Claire at your leisure ^^).

I never update this currently playing section anymore, it's probably an RPG or something.

Leave it to raocow to spend the entire battle standing IN the boss and somehow pull off a win regardless. And rao, the reason Dracula had only one form was because you had kinda just fought Shaft immediately beforehand who took the place of the normal first phase.

Also, apparently, ppsspp has issues with Rondo (again, can't verify since I havne't tried to play Rondo in ppsspp):

Well, the smudgy graphics are a common issue with the PSP3000 screen specifically. It has to do with its molecular structure (seriously, some random japanese guys with equipment looked into it). It won't be a problem on PPSSPP.

raocow is using a git version of ppsspp with no problems (except one you may see in the next video) with Dracula X. It has no issues with Rondo to my knowledge.

I have no idea what the sound problems are, I never noticed them.
How old is his version of PPSSPP? Here's a post on the PPSSPP forums saying rondo has issues in version v0.9.9.1 ~10/05 nightly.

Honestly, PCE-CD Rondo works fine in Mednafen, and it wouldn't be that hard for him to set it up.

The reason Dracula didn't have a second form was because remember, you had to fight Shaft in the same attempt.

For some reason I'm thinking it's either TwinBee or Gradius, even if neither of them are necessarily trilogies.

Parodius is a bit too hot for Sammy's time slot, so...

So you don't bother going for Richter mode, eh?

Oh well, I only kinda started a run myself once and never bothered to finish it. It was challenging though.

Also, the 196% ending is only a slight variation, namely

Maria running after Alucard because her feelings for him are so strong.

I kinda liked it more than the normal end.

I had a lot more difficulties when it came to the bosses, but then I again, I played the original version. Did they tone things down a bit for the PSP remake or was raocow just incredibly lucky?

why do you care so much if something is too lewd or not for raocow
like etna's design in disgaea when you suggested the prinny platformers in request grabbag

also: twinbee has 9 games, parodius has 6, and gradius has like a billion so it can't be any of those

i actually thought it was parodius but then i remembered sexy parodius exists
(i don't think raocow's aware of the msx game)

In my experience basically all the alternate character modes are kinda meh in all Castlevania games. At least the ones I've played. There's no real progression in any of them since they never gain any new abilities. You just kill the bosses to gain hp until you feel you can take on the boss. Most of them don't even have the standard pause menu or equipment either.

Well, the purpose of those alternate characters is to offer you:

1 A challenge

2 An homage to the old times, with no metroidvania stuff. just plain old Castlevania gameplay.

or maybe a mix of both. Personally I think they are pretty good and are fun to play, especially

Albus mode in Order of Ecclesia.
