just be warned that playing the game on modern hardware is... rough. for many a reason, most importantly the turning speed of the camera being tied to how powerful your PC is (for. Some. fucking reason). there are various fanmade patches to resolve this fortunately, and if nothing else you can always just make like, a virtual machine with a deliberately low spec amount to get it closer to how contemporary hardware would run it.

Well, since we’re now formally suggesting lego games instead of reminiscing about them, I’mma second lego island and also propose rock raiders, alpha team, and/or junkbot.

An idea from seeing this post in Paper Mario thread:

It might be in rao's best interest to never read comments again on any RPG he does in the future. Or maybe only read them post-completion of the game.

You know some content creators do videos of "Let's read and verbally react to mean/strange comments" (with poster usernames blanked out for privacy)? Maybe raocow could do something analogous but instead on reading comments that have advices and information about the game. After an information-heavy LP is done (e.g. RPG) there could be a post-playthrough video checking out these video comments. This could be of satisfaction for watchers that enjoy it when he acknowledges info they present him and gives his thoughts in response.

According to the text, the game's danmaku aims to be more "Touhou-like" than previous Phantasmagorias, which makes me think the random danmaku will be a lot more like 100th Black Market's style. It also says story mode's gameplay will be slightly different from versus mode in some way, which I am on board with. While I personally was never much of a fan of PoFV, I'm cautiously anticipating what this will be like - and what characters show up because 19 slots wow.

EDIT: Just feel like it's worth pointing out that Marisa's character title within the game is something along the lines of "Magician Strongest Amongst The Primates."

hey razzcow if you like action rpgs still that don't involve like. clicking through a menu for like 90% of the game, what is your opinion on like doing the quintet trilogy, feel free to add actraiser 1 despite, or due to it not being an rpg (it was suggested before by me partly as a joke). i am like one of the three actraiser 2 fans in Existence but i Don't Recommend it but if you wind up liking dracula x for some ungodly reason...

the quintet trilogy im thinking of is like, soul blazer, illusion of gaia and terranigma. they're pretty good action rpgs, though soul blazer is closer to a sort of gauntlet style thing where there's enemy spawners and you have to clear all the enemies from it to activate a switch in the spawner's place that restores a soul to the land of the living.

illusion and terra are more traditional arpgs i feel, but i forget if there's any of them that have notorious grinding spots. i know one in terranigma that i just skipped over by spamming a certain magic item because it's a terrible boss despite being very memorable... due to being a difficulty hike, i'll try to let you know when you get there. it's the one mentioned in a touhou wiki page lol. illusion also has a pretty shitty boss like midgame? i think it's

or something. could be confusing with another game. i can try to see if any of the walkthroughs say anything before giving you an all clear.

there's also like, games on psx and saturn that quintet or their shade team kind of had a hand in (planet laika, granstream saga, brightis, solo crisis) but im not as well versed in those games yet, so i cannot recommend them, and i believe granstream is a turn based menu rpg and solo crisis and brightis are japanese only (brightis is an action rpg too i believe, need to play it or look it up). robotrek on snes also exists and i heard it's super good despite its bad localization but like. it's turn based.

terranigma had a so-so localization but that was entirely because nob ogasawara was forced to translate everything in adhoc files with no sense of context and timeline order which is why the boss i mentioned that is a total bitch has its hint for a section of its attack pattern be fucked up and not properly timed with said attack
