TiKi wrote: 4 years ago Can I say that while Rockmaiden looks competent and cute, I don't think it should get exposure by raocow? I could understand the lifebars and character stances as REFERENCES, but stuff like the squid looks like edited Megaman rips, and this game is being sold, not like a fangame or anything. Rockmen R and R2 were pilloried for being sold games with edited Capcom sprites, and just because this is a Toohoo it shouldn't be viewed more leniently.
From what I've seen so far of its videos, I agree with this. These appear to be essentially existing Mega Man games with different music and sprites. The gameplay I've seen so far is near-identical. Murasa *is* Wave Man. The layout for Murasa's stage *is* the layout for Wave Man's stage with such small tweaks as to be nigh indistinguishable (the ONLY differences I could see were that the timing of the rising-bubbles section was slightly off, and that the weapon you get for beating Murasa is different).

Like, leaving aside anything re: the games being sold, I just don't see these being interesting for raocow to play (and his viewers to watch) because *we've already seen this gameplay*. In raocow's All the Mega Mans videos.

Far more interesting side-scrolling Touhou exists, like the Marisa game currently being played, like Touhou Luna Nights, maybe also RAIN Project (which is on my short list to try out).

I enjoyed it when I played it a year or two ago, outside of some pretty nasty bugs that caused me to never actually beat the final boss (though they've apparently been fixed)

Just a reminder that Ori and the Will of the Wisps launched today.

There's no need for a trailer.

Got a couple of ideas for intermission (1 or 2 video) games:

-A Knots Story
http://www.freewebarcade.com/game/a-knots-story/

A short platformer game about a cute kitten who gets into unsupervised cat shenanigans. Has a few bonus objectives, which I think just unlock more art on the title menu? Either way, it seems that it was meant to be expanded later into a full-blown indie game, but the devs have gone a bit silent for a year or two. Prognosis: not good! I felt I'd recommend it because 1. cute and 2. it would be a send-off for a game that didn't seem to get the attention it needed.

-Elmo in Grouchland
Image
A VERY short GBC platformer based off said movie. It's one of those licensed games that doesn't make a lot of sense if you haven't seen the movie, which is exactly why I'm recommending a blind playthrough - it gets weird! Unless raocow has been blessed enough to have watched that identity crisis of a film.

No raocows beyond this point! A bit off-topic, but there is somehow an entire 13-minute narration on the movie's soundtrack CD by Elmo himself recapping the movie and it is a trip especially if you're like me and haven't seen the movie in 15 years

Puyo Puyo Tetris
Would that be causal completion or All Stars? Because some of those 3-star requirements are nuts.

Since TheXTech has been released and Mac/Linux users can now play SMBX 1.3 episodes natively without Wine, I thought of what old episodes were best for raocow to showcase this new piece of tech. And I think the one I'd have to recommend is Luigi's Fight for the Mushroom Kingdom.. It's one of the most beautiful SMBX 1.3 episodes, with brand new tilesets drawn by the author himself and lighting effects done for almost every level by hand. There's also a lot of gimmicks that were innovative for the time It has 8 worlds and it's pretty rompy and linear, though that gameplay is where raocow tends to shine!

The best part is that I got in touch with reghrhre and he's willing to do dev commentary in the LP thread if raocow picks this up. Such as how certain setpieces were done, scrapped ideas, and more.
