I haven't played it myself, but there's something real interesting about this:

Edit: Have now played it, and it...kinda defies description. I think it's good? A bit unpolished gameplay-wise, but as an experience, it's something special for sure.

Judging from the SAGE 21 demo it seems to be Unity.

Maybe get it on a sale, though.

$33.99 Canadian is kind of a lot...

i hope you'll consider it when it releases (probably in a few months?). the betterified series has come a long way since betterifived.

what once started as a downscoping of a too-high-concept "bestified" entry has 180°'d into perhaps the most innovative shitpost on this (smbx) side of the mario fandom, and has scope-crept to have about two betterified's worth of content packed with a vast array of fast-paced jokes and nonsense and sometimes gameplay.
I do things. You can find them on my talkhaus site. https://enjl.talkhaus.com/
Here is another link. This one lets you draw.

I'm just going to throw out there that if raocow ever wants to play another FPS that is basically an entire game's worth of the endgame of Black Mesa, Unreal is a very solid and atmospheric FPS that is definitely worth playing (Yes there was an actual single-player game before it became a multiplayer series).

One look at the screenshots and I think the inspirations will become clear.

Recently, some streamer or artist (I forget who) was complaining how we've gone through different "retro gaming" trends, but we've yet to see games that use the DC/PS2/GC era as their retro style. I said "give it time, it'll happen soon enough"

This game, The Big Catch? Well, it happened sooner than I expected, but it's definitely happening now

Yeah I think somewhere around there is where I'd place it too. It's clearly too advanced to be on the level of Mario 64, but the pixelation stands out too much to be on the level of Sunshine.
