Looks like your view of the Crash series changed since the trailers video in 2015?

I think it is very far up raocow's street, it is fun to beat things up and not undifficult.

Emulate the PS1 versions instead, the remakes messed with the physics and made them worse.

Here is something raocow could try playing. Drawn to Life (the first one).

It's a 2007 DS game where you, "The Creator", draw your own creations that come to life (including 3 playable characters). Think it would make an interesting B-side for raocow.

He could always give this a shot instead. It's a bit different and I can't personally vouch for it but everyone I know who's played it enjoyed it so it's probably not awful.

Is a touchscreen-enabled computer recommended for DS emulation?

I tried playing Trauma Center with a mouse and I couldn't beat late-game stages because your response is slower and less convenient than direct touching.

What's the problem with DS emulation again? thanks for not alerting me about ano0's post, mister talkhaus forum software guy,
really appreciate it

Drawn to Life and The Next Chapter were neat games and I wouldn't mind seeing rao play one or both of 'em, but my vote still goes to Henry Hatsworth for rao's first DS LP.
Delightful Adventure Enhanced is out now!

You only really have two options for DS emulator:

- DeSmuME is quite resource-intensive from what I understand. Not sure if it'll run at fullspeed on raocow's computer
- DraStic is payware and Android-only

You could try melonDS, but my understanding is that it's still very much early days and WIP. Everything else is either not in active development, or a GBA emulator with limited/experimental NDS support.

(Source: Emulation General Wiki. I'd link it here , but it has links to BIOS files. Just Google it.)

You could run DraStic via something like BlueStacks. Some do apparently. Then again, you're adding in Input Lag, plus it still has a cost.

EDIT: while I'm at it, no$gba is the only emulator that has any sort of emulation support for DSi titles, while Local Multiplayer/WFC/etc functionality is barely supported by emulators apparently.

Not sure about most games but the retroarch DesMuMe core runs quite well (frameskip at 1, so 30+ FPS) on my surface pro 3 tablet, which is at a meager 1.9GHz. This is for Kirby Canvas Curse, and I'm even using the built-in video dump feature to record the footage. (It does hog up enough CPU to very slightly hamper Audacity's mic recording, so I'm going to offload that to my main computer).

As somebody who actually has a touch screen computer, perhaps if emulators would support it well, which they don't ;). I tried DeSmuME and melonDS, in both cases to tap I have to double tap which is stupid? It's like there is code to support touch screens, but it doesn't work all that well.

I also tried using a stylus as touch screen on Nintendo DS was designed to be used with it (well, to be exact I used an active pen), also caused the same issues - tapping required double tapping.

i'm gonna guess that's a setting you had set up or could change because in my experience with desmume that has never been the case

I guess I could have elaborated further on this in my post but the retroarch wrapper for Desmume allows you to use a special "touch" cursor mode that works perfectly with the surface pro active pen. As in, putting the pen in contact with the capacitive screen behaves as a DS stylus would when pressed against the classic pressure touch screen.

raocow has a tablet, doesn't he?

As long as it can emulate at fullspeed on his computer in windowed mode, he might be good. (I believe with Saturn emulation, he had to enable Threaded rendering to get it running at fullspeed)
