If you want something a little different for the A-side, I would suggest playing through all of the e-Reader levels in the GBA port of Super Mario Bros 3. It combines SMW elements with the SMB3 engine, and sometimes even throws in SMB2 elements... and the level designs all have that little extra bit of polish that the Japanese Mario developers tend to put in.

It'd be a nice break from your usual SMW/SMBX routine. If you ever consider doing this I could provide a save file with all the ereader levels unlocked if needed.

On a similar train of thought, the 6 exclusive GBA levels for Yoshi's Island would make a good challenge as well.

I honestly wouldnt bother w/ those, they're not very good, esp trying to get 100%. I'm not exaggerating when I say a couple of those levels could bring out New! Super Mario World 2 levels of exhaustion/rage.

Since raocow's currently doing a more proper run of Mega Man X and planning on X2 and X3 at some point, I figure I might as well point out that this game exists:
Behold, Mega Man X: Roguelite Edition (also known as 20XX):

Game is currently in Early Access and isn't quite complete (you can beat the 8 bosses, but the Sigma stage equivalent isn't in yet; currently going through a "tweak and polish everything up and increase QOL" phase with updates coming approximately every two weeks). Still, I think it could make for a fun LP once it's actually done.

World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck

This pretty little game for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive is one of the platformers I grew up with. Although it's very easy, quite short, and better with 2 players, it's still a fun little romp solo that I think raocow would enjoy playing for the neat cartoon environments and ambiance.

The Forbidden City

Zelda Classic quest, so you'd have to grab ZC 2.50.2 from the website, but it's not hard to set up- download, extract somewhere, done. :p This quest has extra features in it from other official Zelda games such as magic rings from the Oracle games which you get from either Gasha Trees or enemies, playable Ocarina like OoT/MM, plus difficulty settings in case the game's too hard/easy for you! Pretty fun play from what I've seen.

It hasn't been 4 years yet, but... Soldexus again please ;) , this time with playable character Ava.
Her charge attack is a projectile (which I'm sure you'll appreciate), and she is a lot more mobile. Her adventure through the castle is a lot less linear than Ian's.

The only acceptable second lp of Soldexus is one of raocow deleting it then running the hard drive that was unlucky enough to host it through an industrial shredder.
