Probably "nothing." There wasn't anything in the chest in his other level, he said that the chest people could decide what goes in it. So I'm assuming that's what happened here too.

Should be fun. Were save points ever added?

At least it's got a cool gimmick.

Every room has a savepoint. And if the player dies, they teleport back to that savepoint, skipping the death animation and overworld stuff.

There are ~6 rooms. Originally there was ~12. most are short.

Third section aside, I actually kinda liked that level. All the individual sections (except the third one) looked to be right on the edge of humanly playable, with a couple more midpoints it looks like it could've been pretty alright as a brutally difficult postgame sort of thing.
I realize I only think that because I haven't had to actually play it and also am dumb, but still, it looked alright enough that I'd actually consider attempting to play it maybe.

I was really enjoyed by raocow's level today. Seeing him spamming savestates, using PPR at the beginning, wondering what to do, and not finishing it, someone with a Something Awful account should contact slowbeef and Diabetus for a proper retsupurae.

Anso raocow, go to your local city hall and rename yourself Samuel "Asshole" Tanguay.

Yeah true, that's..well, fair enough.

Not really!?
Unless you mean, there's someone out there who has achieved god-tier platforming skills in Nitroid that everything in the game is a walk in the park for them, or you're making up false definitions of words that already have definitions (such as the word boring).

You realize boring is like: slow, tedious, repetitive, uninteresting, etc right?
You... do realize that those thing are themselves subjective, right?
What people consider too slow/tedious/repetitive/uninteresting/etc, ie boring, varies wildly from person to person. Because it's subjective.

The leaves are really cute.
Not well implemented, but, cute.

also the level may have sucked but don't feel bad rao, this all led to a pretty entertaining absurdist situation which I think may be the high point of this whole already quite interesting series

I kind of like this level for having the courage of its convictions. Some people - I think it was Sept and Mr Dee Pay but I'm not sure and can't be bothered looking - said that the effective aim behind a lot of A2MT design choices seemed to be to rack up as many demos as possible (as if any sane person would play this game without save states but that's a different point). Well, how many other levels are prepared to go as far to accomplish that as this one? So far, none. Maybe anonymousbloodlust's from what people have been saying about it. Did all the people out there making relentless difficulty have the courage of their convictions to make a level where literally everything, block or sprite, is harmful directly or indirectly, and literally nowhere is permanently safe? No they didn't, but raocow did. So congratulations to raocow for going above and beyond the call of duty.

And thank you for not attempting to make a postgame level for A2XT.

For what it's worth, that looked a lot more fun than Rupture in Reality.

Having played both more-or-less without tools, I have to disagree.

I said nothing of the sort.

People are more interested in making levels with the intent of getting some sort of praise or reaction from raocow and ASM/BXT's low QA gives them an extremely easy path of doing so. That's not to say other sites are immune to the same effect, though.

That's also ignoring the group of people that fall into the same collab/contest trap as everyone else.

Finally got around to watching the last two days' A2MT vids. Yesterday's stage looked pretty cool from a technical standpoint, but also looked *really* tedious. Especially that part where you had to guide the highly-prone-to-despawning blobby thing along that corridor. It didn't even come across to me as so much of a "puzzle" as it was basically "try to figure out which switches you need on and off in order to proceed". I did find the "Stone Suit" and "Dash Boots" powerups cool, and it looked nice and had some catchy music, so it wasn't *that* bad.

Today's level... heh. While gathering info for the A2MT SPC set, I went through Further Over There with heavy cheating (invincibility, plus a code that lets you swim everywhere), so I knew what to expect when raocow played it. And yet I *still* probably died more than he did. I found myself saying "raocow, you freaking sadist!" every few minutes, to boot. :P That said, I loved the way the boo cloud was repurposed into falling leaves. That looked really cool, even if it was basically impossible to get through without taking a hit, and I hope someone decides to re-use that aesthetic touch -- albeit in a more reasonable way -- in a future SMW hack.
Extra fun fact: Further Over There was the stage whose music I kept changing in Lunar Magic in order to rip the SPCs. It was map 1 or something in the ROM, and very recognizable, so hey. Easy target. There's your useless trivia for the day!

Ryuu just contacted me and REALLY wants to play the game, even if it is incomplete. (He's a bit hesitant to play an incomplete product, but he implied he wanted to if development had stopped).
Have you told him what he'd be in for? Like that it's not up to the standards of ASMT and that he is guaranteed to have a really bad time in multiple levels?

When A2XT is right around the corner?

This game is a train wreck and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, and I did quite a lot of work on it. I'm against this, for the record, but I'll cooperate because it's Ryuu's decision. You can tell him how many of us think this is a bad idea.

Much of this LP was PMed directly to raocow. I guess I'll forward my share with a reasonable explanation. I doubt this will be successful unless raocow forwards all his A2MT PMs to you.

I dunno man, it might show us (the Talkhaus) in a very bad light. Nobody here is actually proud of this whole product, right?

Well I dunno. If he... knows what he would be getting himself into, I would be okay with making a zip file of the main rom (with the map), the fishmarket, the map to navigate the map, and all the individual roms for the levels that don't work/aren't there.

yes. (edit: don't click if you are a rao or a cow)

So something messed up with caorao's rom. Ended up starting at the end, then halfway through the game. Because, you know, there haven't been enough disasters with this level yet.

I imagine a whole bunch of people are not going to like what they see. But I stand by what I said before-- the level is well-designed. It's just that it was designed for an alternate-reality-cao whose skill level after beating s-mario continued to steadily climb.

Commence the backlash!
