I was expecting the worst since I read the comments here before watching the video, but that level was awesome. Great level design, excellent placement of enemies, clever powerup puzzles, custom boss, and a frantic pace.
I loved the whole thing. Maybe a second midpoint before the boss would have been nice, but it's a short enough trip to the boss room that it really doesn't matter. Best level of A2MT yet.

http://youtu.be/uGVBWq3inHY The boss looks like it's been modified from another custom sprite from the youtube description. That boss is the most notable positive thing about this level. The strategy for this type of boss is to avoid until you understand the pattern, assuming sufficient reflexes, then aggressively attack. The lack of power ups ruins it, as many great things were ruined in A2MT by unfair design decisions.

I had suspected as much. I can never forget the 'Suprise Divebomb!' most of the elite Koopas had.

Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

I remember asking you to playtest it. You said it was good as is and didn't suggest any changes other than mentioning that the doors are hard to enter. And I did listen to your suggestions Deepay. I agreed with almost all of them and they were supposed to be implemented in the final review thread, but apparently nothing in that thread actually ended up in this version of the game.

For those who don't know, this glitch happens when you use sprite 19, the sprite that pop up the message box text. Normally it's only used for the intro. When used somewhere else, it change the coordinate of Mario on the OW and most of the time get you stuck if you're not placed near a path. Since it's a sprite used often, lunar magic has a patch fix inside it. That patch fix is even in the description of the sprite in luna magic. IIRC you need to press SHIFT+F8 in lunar magic.
But using this fix as a result can change the intro level from C5 to 1C5 if you start on a submap.

That level had a lot of variety. The gimmick of blocks taking aspects from the other nearby blocks was great.

I genuinely don't remember playing a full version of this level, or at the very least, I know for a fact I've never played that boss. Past me was really, really good at SMW though, so if I -did- test the full thing, I probably didn't die enough to actually get pissed at it.Cup wrote:I remember asking you to playtest it. I'm glad for the warning about the next level I'd be playing (and showing tomorrow) as it encouraged me to be a bit more liberal with space/time, and it ended up making a better video ultimately.

Isn't the mid point fairly close to the secret path in the cheese level? You wouldn't exactly have to redo the entire stage whenever you died if that is the case

Yeah the boss was the last thing added. The boss is also very easy if you don't wildly jump around. Argue said it was broken how easy it is. If you just stand in the sushi it can never hit you so you can pick when you jump on it. Was actually intending to change the room layout to remove the large and easy to find safe spots before I stopped working on game :/
