Rozaj's first ever recorded Nuzlocke: A Spirit Gold Locke

Well after my question like 30 minutes ago I had the sudden idea to record a nuzlocke and post it here on the talkhaus. Let me explain the basics of a nuzlocke challenge:

1. You can only catch the first pokemon you encounter on a route/cave/city
2. If a pokemon faints it is dead. You must release it to the wild
3. In Spirit Gold its case DIE!

Usually these rules alone is hard enough but to add fuel to the fire I shall also play Spirit Gold. Just like in the SMW community there are hackers in the Pokemon community. One of the more famous hackers is Drayano60. Drayano60 is known for his hard but fun hacks. He doesn't recreate the whole game. Instead he puts all the pokemon in one game and changes there base stats and movepools to enhance fun and difficulty. He also gives all the trainers and gym leaders harder teams to beat. So to say it short. Its going to be a fun ride. I'm going to upload the first update soon. And a test image just to see if it works

Well time for my first update. The standard in the Nuzlocke forums is to create a story. Since this is my first time I shall just play and give my commentary.



As you can notice I'm already started. Reason one is because I hate the intro's in pokemon games, second reason is because I just had a impulse to do it so yeah. As you can see I chose the guy and I have a Cyndaquill behind me. I already named the rival for you Portuguese guys out there this should be a familiar namen: Eusebio. I got the names randomized from a generator so dont blame me! So for the pokemon we got so far:



Engilram the Cyndaquill. To be honest the Cyndaquill line is the least favorite Johto starter but I got it randomized so ooh well. This line are usually special attackers and got the curse that they only get special fire moves late in the game. But in Spirit Gold that changed and hopefully he gets a good fire move. Nonetheless he is my starter and shall be treated like a bro.



Zomise (really these names) the Poochyena. My first catch. Usually when I get a Poochyena in a Nuzlocke i'm not that thrilled. its good for the beginning in the game but will fall behind in stats quick even with his fast evolution. Not so much in Spirit Gold. Drayano must love this line because he made a beast out of them. They learn a powerful dark move at Lvl 17 and there evolutions get some great coverage. So I got high hopes for Zomise.



Kistine the Clefairy. Most people would throw this little abomination. Not me though. I'm actually pretty happy with this Pokemon. I mean ok you need a Moon Stone to make it evolve but what you get for exchange: A tank with decent defence and Sp. Att. plus it can learn almost every move giving it a great coverage which is needed in this game.

Now that we got the introduction out of the way its time to explore a new route!



I'm pretty excited. This is the home of some pretty decent pokemon like Ralts and Surskit and..



That I guess... Well it isn't a bad catch and it got a funny typing plus some good moves added to it.



After 2 sings and a pound we got it. Nothing good ol' Kistine couldn't handle



Sable (this nickname would suite a other pokemon more) the Lotad. I lied. I'm actually pretty happy with this catch. Not only is his last evolution one of my favorite pokemon its also a beast in tanking hits and trolling the crap out of your opponents. The Grass/Water typing is also a plus since it lose some weaknesses.

Time to grind Sable! *Grinding montage here*



Ah youngster Joey. He is a famous meme over at the nuzlocke community and pokemon community. (Dont know if the Talkhaus also knows him)? He is always bragging about his Rattata being top percentage and yada yada. Now lets see how top percentage he is.

A nice little team here with some interesting pokemon. Then again not much my team couldn't handle. So this was my first update. I guess its a bit short but it have to do for now. Feedback is appreciated!

I made a big mistake. I forgot I had to delete my old file to make it not crash. And it Crashed. So next update is going to be a whole other team I guess... I will just play till this point and then introduce you to the new team.

So after that little accident with my save file I present to you update 1.5. Where I just grind and get back to the point I was.



This is our Rival. Please hate him with every fiber in your being. He murdered some real bro's in just a second

The gods where in my favor for my team. I already embraced the fate of a team led by rattata's, Hoothoot's and spinarak's. But as you can see:



I almost got my original team on my first try! I was so happy because I was really content with my clefairy and i'm glad he felt the same way. But as you can see we got one new team member and that is:



Lena the Seedot: The significant other off the Lotad line. I'm not that happy with this catch because Sable was going to be bad ass. But the seedot line is fine i guess. His last evolution is a troll to the max plus later on I can tell a little backstory about the nuzlocke because of this dude. So I hope he is going to prove himself.



This is the team I forgot the show off last time (And still forgot to screencapture here last pokemon Skitty oh well) Man that Clefairy was a nuisance to deal with.. It got cute charm for ability and Engilram got infatuated by it. Causing to miss almost every attack. Men will be men. So next time I will continue for real!

Interesting that you should say that, because, back on the Nuzlocke forums, this thread would probably have been ignored. Screenshot LPs are like ten a penny over there, and, with the sheer number of talented artists (and, to a lesser extent, writers) there who put stories to their own runs...

Update 2! Where I miss some screenshots because i'm stupid like that.



Aah route 31. Also home of some great pokemon and even a chance to catch a full fletched Beedrill or Butterfree. And we get:



Well here is where I screwed up on my first screenshot. As you can see the Spinarak got more then 50% health and he is asleep. But still I wasn't convinced so I thought another pound should do the trick. Only to find out that Rayno was having critical hit time. Thank you, you destructive little pink ball. So no catch for route 31. Onwards to the Dark Cave!



A common catch for this area. But not that I am complaining because its going to be a huge help for the next two gyms. Plus its last evolution is a monster. So lets hope Rayno doesn't murder kill its face.



Man I'm happy Rayno didn't kill it... He got a crit on his first try and I just didn't have the guts to hit it with a other pound. So I just threw a pokeball and it was love on first sight. Now our chances at the first gym are a bit higher.



Generic bug trainer is generic. I guess it could be a pain in the butt to fight. But i'm pretty well trained so he didn't had a chance against my team. I did however had a mini hart attack since I forgot Nincada knows Bug Bite in this game... And Zomise dont like those bug type attack very much. If it had critted Zomise would be dead by now.... Stupid play on my part but it didn't matter for now.



The other rival Lyra. Man in the original game she doesnt do that much I guess? But in this game Drayano made her into a demon. You see that cute little Marill she got with her. Well lets just say it came personally from Hell just to mess with you. But thats for another time.



Aah Violet City. The first Gym is located here and also Sprout Tower. We are in no condition to fight the first gym leader so we will catch some pokemon first.



My catches for Sprout Tower and the ruins. Man these are really underwhelming if you know what you could actually catch in these places. in the ruins you can also get a Dratini which I got on my test run. But hey it wasn't ment to be. Messed up with the screenshots. I catched the Rattata which is going to be back up for now and the Magikarp died of a crit. These crits man.



New route new chances. I hope we get something useful and that nobody will murder its face with another crit...



And here we got our final team member for now:

Settimio the Wooper. Its one of the betterr catches you can get in these here grass patches. Its a water/ground type which makes it immune for one of its biggest weaknesses: Electricity but makes it extra vulnerable for grass. You win some you lose some. But I hope it is going to make it to its evolution because its the most adorable thing you will ever see.

So thats it for update 2. For now i'm just going to grind and when we go back we shall take on the elders of Sprout Tower!

Yeah those exploding koffings would be one pain in the ass less. Oh well I do have a wall to tank those attacks with Freja (Geodude) So up till now i'm pretty pleased with my team

So Engilram and Lena evolved. Which is quite nice since I could use some extra fire power here and there. As you can see the species Seedot evolve into are called Nuzleaf. Now I see you thinking: Nuzleaf, Nuzlocke is this some kind of conspiracy?! Well Nuzlocke is indeed a wordplay on Nuzleaf but you should really read the comic.

Anyway I dont really have to go indept about these pokemon because they are still the same (Special attacker & troll) Only with some more power behind them. So lets continue!



So we finally enter Sprout Tower. The home of ghost pokemon, Parrots and some crazy old men who worship Bellsprout for some satanic reason. Well time to kick some grassy occult face. (I wont show off every team because it are pokemon you can catch in the wild in the area)



Aah your average Monk team. (This guy had 2 bellsprouts so yeah...) It wasn't that much of a battle then again I maybe thinking i'm quite overleveld for this part of the game. Well wait a moment.

Oh man Eusebio got some daddy issues. Well if he doesn't becomes the next John Wayne Gacy I dont know what else he will become. I would bury his face in the ground but he wouldn't challenge me muhahaahHAHAAHAH

Ooh! You can get Chingling's in this place? Man I would totally want one. I always wanted to use Chimecho in a Nuzlocke. But Its a psychic type and Zomise is a expert on disposing on those types. NEXT!



Aah a Cherubi. We already saw one of those back in the day. Well since Engilram is already level 1000 because of all these grass types I decided to give Little Rayno a chance. Not to difficult and it was pounded into on obliteration. Well the last one I suppose.



THIS THING RIGHT HERE! It knows hypnosis and it isn't scared to use it. This was actually a tough battle since it knows Air Cutter and the special defence of a Geodude isn't that good actually. But in the end I only needed to throw a rock in its face. So victorious are we!



The way I what old man? I maybe a 10 year old boy in this game but that doesn't mean you can just do thing with me?! STRANGER DANGER, STRANGER DANGER!

Aah these things. well in the beginning of the game you also get a Eevee. But I didn't use it so I really dont need these things. But if you want to play with it choose wisely.

No replies? I thought that would stop you?! Never! Its time for our next adventure in this pokemon world! So when we last checked out we just triumphed in Sprout Tower and defeated some old pervy monks. Now we are going to take on the first gym of this gym! It specializes in Flying types which is the perfect type to be a first gym in my opinion. So lets see what it is all about!



Didn't change much in comparison with the original. 2 trainers, 1 gym leader lets do it! In advance I feel bad because I'm severly overleveled for this gym with my level 18 Engilram. But I will try to not use him that much. Onwards!



Bird Keeper Abe is in a world of pain. I mean I got a rock with arms who will demolish your birds like in 10 seconds! But its ok we all have to start somewhere.



Not a big shot but I have something that will... ONE SHOT YOU! Come one.. Thats pretty good material right?!

Engilram: You may be my trainer but that doesn't mean I will just tolerate any humorless attempts.

Never thought he would force me out switching Freja. I totally forgot about the Wingull line. So I just had Zomise take care of it. Then again I was pretty afraid of that Natu because Freja's special defence is crap.

So let me get this straight: You know Freja has poor special defence but you are still sending her out? Man you are new to this game right??

No... Not really. But I only nuzlocked a pokemon game once and that was just a original not a hacked version.. Wait why am i explaining this to you!

So after that quick break i'm here... Going to challenge Falkner.. Man I dont know anything about him. Usually we get some information from Drayano about the gym leaders but for this game he didn't give us any list.

It will be ok just relax. I mean if you just keep your head cool and think logical it wont be so hard right? And if things go bad you can always send me in alright?

A full team of six. Man Drayano went full out. Well since you offered to help me Engilram you can help with scouting out his first pokemon.

Well his Doduo went out with a fight. So lets get ready for his next pokemon!



So he's already getting out his ace? As you can see the levels are pretty close now. But I got the advantage with Freja and Pidgeotto's defences aren't that great so I think Freja can handle this!



My God this is the damage of 2 Mud-Slap's... The attack power of mudslap is 25. If it would be any higher I would have a real problem. But the accuracy lowering doesn't really help..



Finally got a rock throw off! It got healed by a Oran berry so one more and we can move on to the next!



Finally destroyed that Pidgeotto. It went better then I expected. So Freja is already a sis in my book! Well Engilram could you just beat this Murkrow so I can heal Freja for the next fight?

Sure why not. Murkrow's can be a pain to fight after all. Nothing wrong with using your ace in a battle

At first I was confused why my Rock Throws weren't super effective against this dude. And then I looked somethings up and apparently Drayano made Farfetch'd a Flying/Fighting type. I got really lucky here that it didn't have a fighting type attack.



Swablu? I mean its a ok pokemon for a first Gym I guess. But everytime I see it its just like... This dude over here? You are going to use him? Well lets just do this!

What... It happened so fast. I just saw Swablu was absorbing light. At first I was shocked it used this attack but then it hit me it can use it the next turn. But then it used a item and the Solarbeam just shoot directly at Freja.. I.. She didn't have a chance (Why does a freaking Swablu knows Solarbeam?!)

You are worthless! Let me handle this one.



Man this thing is tough. It even knows Aerial Ace and Roost + Solarbeam. This is a Swablu from hell. Its defences are also crazy. Engilram had to use a few Leer's to lower its defence and then had to quick attack it twice to finally destroy it. Anyway lets finish this and destroy his last pokemon
