I just assumed red Wart was a ghost vulnerable to physical contact.
While I'm here, both levels today seemed pretty fun, good jobbing!

Him asking for his level name difficulty with "Hard me up, woman" already took care of that.BobisOnlyBob wrote:sssh, you'll attract shippersEathanu wrote:More like a bickering couple, really.Noxy wrote:I swear raocow and Horikawa have some hella weird good cop bad cop thing going on. raocow dies a lot of times arbitrarily in large parts because of a bug that the level creator himself acknowledges, but when Horikawa writes "yo deaths feel kinda arbitrary here and so does winning" raocow starts going all "what no this is entirely and absolutely skill-based 100% completely".

raocow is just being contrary, when he gets to the 2nd to last video he'll just spend half the video complaining about how bad the next level is(and it will end up being his)
I read it in the voice of modern Eggman after you said it. screw those old voice actors, Mike pollock is the best eggman.Xirix wrote:

Oh you did not just say screw Jim Cummings and Long John Baldry..., the modern voice is good I agree, but shame on you.

Also, the levels today sure were great! Even the more frustrating levels lately have a lot of charm to them.

Today's 2nd level (the one by Compound Fraxure) was excellent; it's one of my favorite levels so far (if not my favorite).

being hyperbolic but yeah, I don't think there's been a single bad voice actor for eggman, despite them all being extremely different.Xirix wrote:Oh you did not just say screw Jim Cummings and Long John Baldry..., the modern voice is good I agree, but shame on you.

the second half is actually a lot better made then one would assume, because the enemies are placed JUST SO to be pretty easy to hit with the arcs of the hammers.

Re: He's Pretty Controversial and likes Hard Levels to Boot!
Opinions on today's levels sure are contrary to each other! I thought It's an SMB2 Level Except Way More Dead was pretty entertaining (although quite long).
I'm pretty sure the first 'Wart' is just meant to be like... a statue/coffin of him marking his grave? I guess that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense considering the graphic itself, but that was the impression I got.Burgers wrote:Although it didn't make sense for Wart's body to be both dead and lying on his grave to being undead and alive in another room. If he was brought back to life, wouldn't he use the same body? I mean, sheesh, you can't just make up the rules for stuff like that.

He came back from the dead with a new not-dead body, then starts bragging about how more powerful it is. whats up there is the green dead body.

I think Wart got Edo Tensei'd. Real body's still dead somewhere. Fake recreation of the body, made out of ash with the original soul inside it is running around causing mayhem.

Oh man, can we have some fun stories from Japan? Let us know how the trip goes.Horikawa Otane wrote:For those wondering I'll update the thread and my scores for Fluffy around 11pm Japan time. So like noon EST.
Or when I get back from the aquarium. Idk depends on what else I wanna do today.
Also, if we want to get extra morbid, the green body for Wart may have just been his skin. When he came back from the dead it may have peeled off and the red we are seeing is just his skinless fleshy body.

Re: He's Pretty Controversial and likes Hard Levels to Boot!
Turns out that Mario and co. dislike their skins getting wrinkly while they bathe, especially for Link, so they head off to the bar to forget their troubles.
"Submarine of the Mushroom Kingdom" is a level split in two: the underwater collect-a-thon, and an interior filled with water and electricity. Shame that the seahorses/sea dragons are just eels, but a funny in-house pun. Why do the fast fishes have dragon/dino traits from the Mario universe?
"Descent of an Aging Link", as the title name suggests, descends from the GameBoy games to the original NES (though I don't know why A Link to the Past isn't in there). Besides some small gripes I see such as the layers of the last part of the elevator not being consistent, and the grey pillars mixed with the gray bricks, it's a good Link level.

Three important threads for me:
Re: He's Pretty Controversial and likes Hard Levels to Boot!
I think, judging by the quality of these past levels, mine's going to show up soon in World 7.
1st level looked pretty neato and had some clever event applications, but the collectathon killed it. If I had to play it I would have hated it cuz I hate having to collect things in games where you've only got 2 hits at most given times.
2nd levels had awesome graphics and had an amazing beginning with the eagle's tower callback and the destructo-pillar. Its forest area was nifty too. But the cave was a bit too spacious than it probably needed to be, and the descending elevator could have been made awesome but was kind of borked cuz of all the projectiles and how it left you no real method to adapt into dealing with them. Also looked a bit long, but that could be because I was watching it and not playing.
I have no idea how all these levels placed over Little Ruins.

Re: He's Pretty Controversial and likes Hard Levels to Boot!
Except that if that Wart was an Edo Tensei version, it would be unbeatable. I didn't see Toad use any manner of Fuuinjutsu on it.HozukiHangetsu wrote:At the risk of dropping a reference people might not get...Burgers wrote:That SMB2 level was rad. Re: He's Pretty Controversial and likes Hard Levels to Boot!
Oh man, that Zelda level. I thought it started off really well with the Eagle's Tower references, but as soon as you start going down the elevator, there's a noticeable dip in quality thanks to enemy spam and generally unremarkable level design after. Sorry, creator. Good job being the last hurrah of world 6, though!
Also, I have extremely weird opinions about the Zelda series, and I've been playing them since the early '90s. I hold the original four Zelda games with the highest regard, even old Zelda II there, and I wish desperately Nintendo would revisit its format someday in this modern age. With the proper handling and more modern ideas applied to it, a sidescrolling Zelda could be quite the experience!
