Any level with the word "stupid" is bound to have some problems.
.
I was disappointed that the lower levels didn't have some crazy background or graphics. There's a bunch of SMBX video in Spanish showcases levels like that.

Today's video was great! I expected... y'know, a lot WORSE for the bottom three. The first one was extremely simple, but at least it was consistent. The second was pretty trolly but raocow got enjoyment out of it and that made me happy.

The third one, I think the unbalanced midpoint didn't help. But it had some interesting ideas, like the two rising/lowering platforms you have to switch between. And the story was GREAT.

I'm just happy my level wasn't in the bottom of the bottoms. But I may be speaking too soon... :roll:

134th - Grass Way Plains by Mikeycj24

I shouldn't have to say much about this. It seemed more like an engine test than an actual level. Only reason it scored below a few of the other awful levels is because it lost 10 free points from every judge by not following the naming convention.



133rd - It's an SMB3 Level, Except More Stupid by Litdude42

Yeah, not sure if litdude felt obligated to do this because of his level name, or just wanted to and was glad for an excuse. Thinking the second.



132nd - Starry Ocean Pipes by IceT

This level literally managed to make me go on a rant to several of my friends. I was originally doing reviews, but I ended up stopping them in order to finish in time. Here's an excerpt from his.

Graphical - 1/10
[Music choices was ok. I must say, I did not think I would ever have to give a level a 1 in graphics, but honestly. Like. Are you serious here? It looks like you just shit out tiles at complete random? And even the ugliness wouldn't be enough to get a 1 in graphical, but it was downright confusing. You had tiles that were usually solid passable, tiles that were usually passable solid, waterfalls that were doors, doors that were not doors. Like, just.... wow.....]

Otherwise, it was just the flaws scattered around the level that made me score it so low. It's full of blind jumps, enemy placements that make no sense, and a few instances of unfair bullshit.

P.S. That part where raocow walks in the room, and two platforms immediately take off, goes back out and returns and jumps on? If you miss them a second time you're forced to suicide. And getting on them is a LOT harder than he makes it look, especially since there's NO breathing time between jumping on and the first obstacle. That's the type of thing I mean with unfair bullshit.



While people are on that topic btw, I did not judge on difficulty or length save in extreme cases. People were making a level intended for all levels of players and all kinds of different lengths, it wouldn't be fair to judge off of one favorite.

Well then this is an interesting first episode. Like others have been saying, I also expected worse out of the worst levels. Hopefully this is an omen of good things to come.

Starry Ocean Pipes was an interesting thing to see there in third last. It clearly had a good amount of work put into it, and some interesting ideas, but well... yeah.

Looking at the overall score list, if raocow gets through 3 more levels in the next video we'll be seeing the ones scored, 22.1, 24, 34. So... expect the first two to not be too much different quality than those in the first video I suppose, but then a jump for the third?

8flight altered me to this error yesterday so I took some time and double checked all the scores and correlated them to my spreadsheet. There were like... 5-8 other errors (with several other major things changed)? Either way, I submitted a fix to raocow as "Day One DLC" to raocow. Tomorrow's video won't likely have the fix applied (I don't think it'll matter for that anyway), but the one after will!
Not really surprised I made that many mistakes, honestly. Were they just score things?

Those levels weren't remotely as bad as I was expecting. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see my level fairly soon.

I have been looking for a download link for the finished project. Have I been looking not hard enough or is it going to be posted later on?

By the way are you (the judges) going to release the complete list of scores in the future? I would like to practice my stats skills on the results.

I'm actually kinda frightened for the future of the levels.
I remembered about the free ten points given to usage of the name, and also graphical and sound things are rated separately from 'fun.'..and you don't give negative points...So. Like. Potentially, the worst level in the game (from a fun perspective [which is all that matters in terms of fun {obviously}]) could have plenty of Graphical Musical Level-name bonuses attached (and is thus coming later and by surprise).

The finished download will be released after raocow's lp is done.

I will also be releasing my full, extremely detailed, spreadsheet at that point. That should help you do exactly that.

Is the entire hub underwater? It should get nicer as we reach the top tiers.

Wow, if that was the worst levels of this and raocow still thought they were ok - then I imagine he's going to like A2MBXT quite a bit.

I kind of wish I'd thrown together deliberately bad level for this now. Gawd Horikawa - you never reminded me, not once. At all.

WHOA this is starting! Super excite!

I got the warm fuzzies at that a clue in that one level "THE WATER WENT UP IN SMOKE" and raocow just, like, intuitively goes to the chimney stack. That's like, far out.

If I remember right, the latter half of the game is completely comprised of 80s and 90s, so those will be doubtlessly be fun. But these low-end levels are fun to watch in their own right.

The first level should have been called TECHNICALITY PENALTY.
