I much prefer the original Labyrinth Zone. The port of it in superwiidude's Mario's Amazing Adventure, I REALLY like. Too bad he no longer has it. Very simple but pleasant.

I don't think there's going to be much to remember from this game or playthough. The most unique thing are those trippy portals. It's a first of it's kind, but that's all.

Now don't speak to soon Sep. I'm waiting for how he does on some levels to come to see if there really is nothing to remember.

It had a cameo of sorts of the best Sonic level ever. That has to count for something, right?

I saw a pseudo-explanation one time, and it essentially has to do with what sprites are occupying what slots in the game's memory. I don't know WHY that would affect it, but seeing the number of sprites at the beginning of the level coupled with raocow dynamically creating a new one (separation of troopa and house) and perhaps even a lack of playtesting on Nintendo's part for the hopping flames (they only appeared in one level, after all) could have lended itself to the phenomenon.
So it works like Thwomps and I think also Thwimps?
I had no idea, I remember just being able to kill them with shells regardless. That's interesting.

Either way, most of the LP is already done, and it doesn't provide much content before this point

The next two worlds are probably the most memorable parts of the game. For me, there was very much a 'wow' factor when I first found the extra world.

Everything else... ehhh there's Lost Pipeline I guess.

Exactly how I felt. Finding it is definitely one of the most memorable points in any ROM hack I've played just because of how many layers of secret areas you have to go through. The world itself is fantastic too.

The OW is quite good, but it feels like most of the game is still unmemorable. I've played Choas Complexxx and don't remember anything at all from today's video. A lot of people have an attitude that hacks should be 90ish levels, which leads to filler.

As far as I'm concerned, a hack with 13 truly memorable levels out of 60 levels total is much better than a hack with 13 out of 96.

So, raocow wants us to create and spread our own stereotypes...

All right, here goes!

New stereotype: All French Canadian LPers like........... Eggplant?

Opinions are opinions, but there are very few people who DON'T enjoy this hack a lot, and for a lot of people, it is their favorite. Not every level needs to have a ridiculous over-the-top gimmick like the ASwhateverTs to be memorable (sometimes for the wrong reasons), and this game shows that off well. For me, it was just a really pleasant romp with a especially great postgame and final world, and many of the levels leading up to the endgame were genuinely fun (barring Ice Bomb bridge because I loathe the shit out of that level).

It makes me read their posts like it's a really long title for a book or song or essay or something.

People use weird typing gimmicks because they think it makes them quirky and interesting. Like the person who join a forum and start coloring all the text in their posts with green or pink or something, without exception. They just want to stand out from the crowd, to not be "just another person typing words on the internet", so they use visibly different text as a shortcut for that.

Just curious, but where does this rank in your list of Top Hacks?

I'm not sure. I'm hesitant to call it my favorite just because it -does- have flaws, but it's definitely near the top. As for my personal "best hack", I'd probably have to go with SMW2+3 just because it's balanced, fun, has a variety of levels, and has a decent story that would fit within the realm of a Mario hack. It's nothing revolutionary at all (neither is TSRPR), but I find that most hacks that attempt to be gimmicky usually screw up a critical aspect that makes the game suck as a whole (eg. Brutal Mario).

I doubt it will come to this, but if you run short on lives in Thirdspace, you can use those cannonball-shooting enemies in Neverfly Fortress while staying on the fences for life farming, Cowrao. Maybe I'll look into other life-farming opportunities, but FPI's done a pretty good job of farmproofing his levels.

EDIT: And no sooner do I post that do I find a more convenient one: in Perplex Rosa, right after the midpoint, there's a spot where you can use a shell to rack up extra lives from a Diggin' Chuck's rocks. Assuming, of course, that shells affect those rocks, but I'm like 99% sure they do.

EDIT^2: They do affect them!

I will never understand why stuff like the barely edited ghost house from smw (which is basically garbage) was kept and put alongside stuff like that awesome fortress level with its custom blocks and sprites and unique sprite graphics.

I like how every level of Thirdspace seems to end with just randomly throwing a Chain Chomp in there for no reason. If Thirdspace itself ends with one as a completely out-of-nowhere custom boss it's going to pretty much make my entire week.

Man, that level looked depressingly tedious. And yeah, that Chain Chomp at the end of every level is pretty hilarious!

Ah I remember playing that layer 2 swimming mess. What a time that was.
Also, isn't there a balloon in the last world too?
