Steam Train underwear.

Also Arin is so enthused about Ribbit King, it's really nice.

I watched the 1st series (with Arin, Danny, and Ross) and I enjoyed it, it's a lot more laid back but it's still funny though.

You did~ It will make for a good series, for sure.

Also hey anybody see Arin miss an obvious tutorial bubble, walk STRAIGHT AWAY from what he was supposed to do, and flail around asking what he was supposed to do, only managing to get back on track by complete accident in Hello Kitty? Because that was a terrible 11 minutes:

Top right Arin. All ya had to do was glance up at the top right.

Sometimes I think the title Game Grumps is not meant to refer to the LPers but rather the people watching, as they scream in agony as Arin misses YET ANOTHER important game element while listening to Danny tell stories about being invited to orgies or whatever.

It's going to be interesting that they're playing this blind. I honestly hope they don't read the comments, it's kind of fun that they really don't know the reputation of the game so they're just experiencing it how it should be played. No colored judgement, no idea what to do except through the game design itself.

Took Arin until nearly the final boss to figure out you can just use your charge beam on bosses.

Good gods Default Dan.

I've seen the general game design idea in a few other places (Who hasn't?) but it was still pretty enjoyable to see Steam Train do it.

Especially with the graphic mod.

Silly graphic mod notwithstanding, there's really no reason the game has to look like a low-rent, iOS ripoff of the Mario style. The concept behind the gameplay stays true as long as the game comes across as a platformer, that subversion of player instincts won't suddenly go away.

GOD I WISH THEY WERE PLAYING ONE OF THE MORE INFINITELY FASTER AND BETTER BATTLE CHESS KNOCKOFFS.

Like Combat Chess. That would have been great.

I'll get over it but just, UGH, THE SPEED.

From the subreddit, Arin (black) and Danny’s (white) match:

It was oddly satisfying to see Danny’s strategy. I feel like playing chess again.

Arin: "Is there like, a down-dodge?"
Danny: *completely ignores Arin*

Nor is he grasping the dodge-and-counter rhythm to the game >_> But wasn't the original Punch-Out the same? He should really be a pro at it, it theory.

The thing is, there 2 stages to playing both Punch Out!! and Punch Out!! Wii, actually.

The first stage is where you fight really orthodox, dodge, counter, dodge, counter, pay attention to the star spot and win in possibly a round or two-three.
Then, once you're skilled enough, more people start trying to beat the fight as fast as possible, and a huge part of doing such is intercepting your opponents punches which 8 out of 10 times gives you star punches.

Dan was skilled in the NES Punch Out!!, so he was already fighting in that game stage 2 style (for the most part). The problem with Wii is that you're supposed to learn an opponents pattern well first before you try to do daring stuff like intercepting every punch you're getting thrown at you (Getting King Hippo down without actually KO-ing him by intercepting that giant crush attack is a considered a secret to most new players, for instance), which Dan knew in NES, but this game and NES, despite their similarities, get quite different from one another later on.

If Dan continues to play like he's already as skilled at this game like he was at the NES version (which right now has just caused him to run out of hearts half of the time and taking some unnecesary damage (his fight against Disco Kid was one of the worst I ever saw)) I really doubt seeing them get far into the game anytime soon, as Disco Kid is really the last opponent who you can just throw random punches at and expect it to easily work out in your favour.

If this was Arin, I would agree, but Danny actually tries to learn when he enjoys a game. And since NES Punch-Out is such a thing of pride for him, I can't imagine he'll be content with doing badly in this one.

I liked the part where the 12 year old looking main character gets stripped naked when she dies by spikes and the game actually makes it an achievement to do as such.

From what I've herd the guy what made Syobon Action also worked on this game, if that's true he sure couldn't think of new traps and then had to copy paste them in from that. if it's not true than, the person sure is good at plagiarizing traps.
Also the name.
So you could get the same satisfaction of playing a silly trap-based platformer with the same traps with Syobon Action for free.
...I'm going to go play Syobon Action

I watched that video and I thought "this is a one-off for sure" but... I guess not >_>
This isn't a game one would pay for, is it? Somehow I get the impression that it is, and that's very silly.

Ah, I see! Makes sense.

Danny's definitely handling the 'stage 1 dodge/counter' routine better by now, but... despite ducking by accident thrice against Great Tiger, he still hasn't grasped the idea that you can duck :V
