ASMBXT; Journey's end
Re: raocow Plays: ASMBXT Preludsion to the stupid
Eh. The actual application of it, save for those fences near the end, wasn't all that complex, as there was always only ever one or two moving parts to worry about at any one time. Even those fences were things that were mitigated if you brought a cape in, which given the level before it was virtually assured.
Was it appropriate for the world 1 castle? Probably not, but nothing that ended up in world 2 or 3 really suited a world 1 castle better.

One time I manages to get on the top side after I died (with Iris) after the mid-point. Made the stage much easier.

Considering the world 2 castle, I think it's fine even though I had enough trouble with the second half of reflections myself. The world 2 castle wouldn't even be bad if you could throw the damn "bob-ombs" upward and they weren't spammed so damn much.Pheonix wrote:Eh. Re: raocow Plays: ASMBXT Preludsion to the stupid
well
It would appear my level went over rather well with Mr. The raocow :3
Though, who knows how my post-game level will turn out.
Kind of a shame he didn't eat the picnic radishes. I really couldn't figure out any way to only make the guy say his thing only after having taken them, so I kinda have to depend on people doing the obvious thing and taking the free powerups. Oh well.
Re: the secret exit, I was really aiming for an actual 'hidden' exit and such, not blatantly obvious but still not too hard to find if you're actually paying attention (as well as not just putting it at the end of the level and making you go through it twice). I'd like to think it was pretty good, but it's hard to say for certain!
Also, I couldn't help but notice that the couple Spinies were actually still Spinies and not the spikey caterpillar things. Any reason that would be?

Re: raocow Plays: ASMBXT Preludsion to the stupid
I really!! really liked the world one castle! I thought the gimmick was super neat and interesting! Especially since the level overall didn't seem too difficult, at least in my opinion. It was probably kind of stressful, though, ahahaha!
Aaa, but yeah, just a lot of positive reaction from me, because that was a really cool gimmick.
Also, the toad-sky-picnic in the previous level was pretty amusing, ahahaa

Remember raocow, eating mushrooms/radishes will not remove your stored power, like it does in SMW.

Yeah, I didn't know that was the password until looked up what the password was. Ah, well.
Also, I guess my thoughts were right when I thought raocow would have some fun with "14".
EDIT: Also, re: Reverse Zone: I was a bit lazy, and didn't want to do a full graphics change for it, since grabbing the graphics weren't that easy. The enemies I had to rip myself from the ROM using YY-CHR, while the Hut and House I had to crop out from a Youtube video that wasn't of good quality. Hence SMB1 platform instead of KCiAZ platform.
Also, for raocow: The World 2HUB is split into 2 parts (with different music), if it seems shot, there's more levels in the second part.
EDIT2: World 2 Part 1 Music is this.

I enjoyed A Terrible Level, if only because of the Crazy Bus music, and for the life farming opportunity. I managed to get up to 99.

Then you probably played the level in 1.00, the life farm was toned down in 1.01 following.strongbadman wrote:I enjoyed A Terrible Level, if only because of the Crazy Bus music, and for the life farming opportunity. I managed to get up to 99.

also i totally didn't expect Sheath Courage in Alpha Zones there, heck, i wasn't expecting a level based on a turbografx-16 game that wasn't bomberman or bonk (maybe blazing lasers?) at all
wish she turned into a weird mecha thing too

in case anyone hasn't played the game
iris' tanuki suit replacement is a ghost costume
she turns semi-transparent
also i love it when the characters in the title screen turn into all demos or all irises (irisi?)
EDIT: i reached reverse zone and oh my god precise platforming as sheath is the worst thing

That Crazy Bus level was silly in the best possible way.

My thought's exactly.S.N.N. wrote:That Crazy Bus level was silly in the best possible way.
I can record me mashing my electronic keyboard on the highest volume for three minutes straight and still don't achieve the majesticy that Crazy Bus has to offer with its beautiful soundtrack.
The fact that the level tries to defend itself with the butthurt "don't like it, ignore it" excuse is only the distorted cherry on the "MSPaint_Default_Pallete_Chosen_at_Random" cake.

Ah yes, that platforming segment after the midpoint. While the stage was mostly based on level 2 (which is called Reverse Zone) of Keith Courage, that platform arrangement is straight from level 4: Toxic Zone.KobaBeach wrote:in case anyone hasn't played the game

I used to own this when I was 5. I never beat it though, I only ever made it halfway, which was level 4B: the underworld segment.
Fun fact for those who don't know: Keith Courage in Alpha Zones was the pack-in title for the TurboGrafx-16, the 3rd console during the time of the Genesis and SNES. The game didn't really show off what the console could do, and it suffered for it. They switched the game out with the better Bonk's Adventure, but it was too late, the TG-16 barely made a blip on the radar in North America.
Fills me with so much nostalgia hearing the music.

I thought this was Flywrench music.
Also, I mistook the midpoint gate in "Castle of Reflection" for a stake with a weird hitbox and kept jumping over it :S
