Wanting to start LPing

Maybe this is the place to put this, maybe not, but I'll put it here anyways.
So, I've been toying with the idea of doing a Let's Play of the PSX game Legend of Dragoon. I've got a working emulation, a (usually) good framerate, and an idea of just what I want to do with an LP of it. The only problems I seem to have are software and hardware based.
So, I'm currently living away from home for university, my computer is a Lenovo X220 Thinkpad, running 64-bit Windows 7. It's not the best for gaming, granted, but it's decent enough to try playing games. The problem I'm having is that the Conexant audio chipset (Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD) apparently doesn't support Stereo Mix, so I can't record the game audio and my voice at the same time (as far as I can tell). Also, for some reason, I can't seem to get CamStudio to work, which is the program I've decided to try. I get a WaveoutGetSelectControl() error when I auto search for the recording line, and it can't seem to detect my soundcard when I try to start a manual search. If anyone has a better suggestion, I'd love to hear it, but I'm not likely to go purchasing software, so bear that in mind if you do decide to suggest anything.
So I guess what I'm asking for here is if anyone knows how to fix my problem with CamStudio, or if they have any other suggestions, or if they know any sort of Stereo Mix workaround that won't distort the audio to all hell.
Thanks
