(Though there are certainly enough dick moves in the game that I can see where the confusion comes from.)

Anyway! Desunoya's back and better than ever in this utterly adorable new installment in the platformer puzzle genre that you will get to see in several hours once the first video actually uploads. The nice thing about this game is that it's essentially Desunoya's Shoot the Bullet - despite all the tricks and execution nightmares, very rarely is any individual level of any meaningful length. Most can be knocked down in roughly a minute, if that, so playing them seven kazillion times is less of a time sink than it seems it might be. (Is starting one of these threads by linking to someone else's gameplay video kosher?)

Of course, since this is a Desunoya game, you can expect thoughtful level design combined with all manner of assholery, so if you don't like watching hilariously infurating games, well, sorry!

This is a very fun and creative game, I'm really looking forward to it. If you're one of those people here that somehow have a negative bias towards the first MAriAri (or even Nitroid), please give a chance to this one because the gameplay is extremely different.

I rather enjoyed the Nitroid playthrough. I've started the MariAri LP twice now and got bored. Looked to be one of those games that is much better to play than to watch. Hopefully this one will be more entertaining. (Although I'll probably watch it anyways even if it is a bit boring. The only LP I actively avoid is the Voxatron one.)

Hey raocow!

I reckon you're using Camtasia to record the game? I notice a lot of framerate poopiness throughout the video, and I had the same issue with my LP when I was using Camtasia way at the beginning. I know you don't like using Fraps, so might I recommend Bandicam for this project? It has screen rectangle mode like Camtasia, but has a lot less overhead in terms of having to save and export, while still keeping super small files unlike Fraps. And switching to that pretty much fixed up my framerate issues as well.

(I had the same issues regarding framerate with Asakura P actually, so now I pretty much use Bandicam for everything).

Enjoy! It's gonna be a fun ride, but like I said, I don't think it gets anywhere near as bad as MariAri's world 8.

Pretty sure he ended up deleting his save live on camera at the end in sheer frustration. So in short, YES.

I have literally never been so happy about an LP thing. Believe it or not, MariAri is my favorite raocow LP, ever. Call me a sadist, if you will, but got did I enjoy that run. And I loved Nitroid, too, so I'm seriously looking forward to this.

Query: was this game directly inspired by some other source, ala MariAri 1? Or is it more of an original concept/synthesis of concepts?

General gameplay tip: Marisa can broom through fuzzies to kill them, much like Alice throwing dolls at them.

Hmm. So far, Alice's ability looks much more powerful, and much more flexible. I can already think of a half-dozen crazy puzzle things you can do with the "gremlins", but pretty much the only things the broom can do is "fly over spikes", "fly over hole", and "fly over switch". Unless there's more to the power than we've seen so far.

Also, is the broom power limited? Like, could you float from one side of the screen to the other, or would it wear out a few blocks along the way?

You get one use of the broom per jump, you have to touch the ground before using it again. It goes 3 blocks per use, and is not interruptable (If brooming into a wall, you hover in place for the duration).

It gives Marisa a lot more flexibility in movement, particularly with making long jumps. This game is on the whole pretty platforming-centric for a puzzle platformer, so this made me prefer playing as Marisa quite a lot more than Alice throughout my LP!

Yeah, raocow didn't show it in this particular video, but as kilga mentioned, Meroe over there can kill FOE with her magic button just like Alice. It makes her the choice character to take out enemies with since it's very easy to outpace your dolls as Alice. There have been many times when I fire out a doll and walk past it to collide with the enemy before the doll does. Not a huge thing, but it's one of the reasons Marisa feels more comfortable to play as. Her mechanics make her a bit more sturdy.

To be fair though, that feeling also might just come from the fact you default start as Marisa each time you enter a stage, so Alice feels like the non-default option inherently. Pure puzzle wise the dolls are a bit more interesting yeah, but he real puzzles come from the two powers interacting together!

First time I've had to fullscreen becuase of the tiny text, yay!

I wonder what the deal was with that spike and blocks above Marisa's door in the 4th level. And those pass through blocks before the door were kind of pointless, in my opinion.
