I love how in Microcosm, Boki was all "do I fight a bunch of tiny enemies now" and Savant was all "no that's absurd"

And then we get exactly that today

Exchikkalibur has been my favourite boss so far.

I think a lot of the problems you're having with the flail guys is that your strategy seems quite poor. the trick is to shoot them not where their shield is.

EDIT: Quick test, the "not shield" area you can hit seems to be somewhat forgiving.

For a level like Grand Hall, what I try to do is figure out which specific areas are a problem and head right for them, only stopping to grab weapons if necessary. That way if I mess up, I have less to redo, and I get more practice on the hardest encounters.

I don't remember specifically how I handled the shield guys, though. In this case, it's probably not a bad idea to focus your efforts on them while you have Plasma, since it ignores their shields.

yeah, easiest strategy in that level is either to get the plasma, or start with lightning, then grab explode and remote from the ninjas.

I agree with raocow, Remote on its own is a pretty crap weapon.

Some of the combos you can get with Remote are amazing but just the power alone is situationally useful at best.

You know, you have to wonder what all the armored enemies' armor is made of if it's immune to most of the standard weapons. Some not-quite-Shadow Metal compound or something? And why aren't the Cybers using it on modern Constructs?

raocow was saying Remote is Bad in... a situation where remote is incredible, though, because you can just aim it behind the shield guys and that would have taken care of them easily, and it's still easily stronger than just the normal boki beam

Ah, Meta Knight Arikan, the first of the truly AMAZING boss fights in the game.

It is a little annoying having to learn basically an entirely new moveset for the battle, but WOW is it worth it!

And if any of you watching this game for the first time thought this fight got crazy... just wait for the Hard Mode version.

Poor Arikan, he was the final boss in earlier builds of the game, now he's only the 2/3rds of the way boss.

What a demotion.

I too agree with the disappointment at the lack of Yoggval. However, Arikan is a more than worthy enough foe!

I think that last stage is where I took a long break from the game because I was having trouble with the damage requirement. It's pretty tough!

Glad you figured out what was up on Meteor Breaker, though. That would have been so boring to watch otherwise.

While I was screaming at my monitor there, I admit it would've been hilarious to watch him try and star the level that way.

Hmm, how come you decided to not get Supernova for your winning run?

2nd question: How come you didn't show it being used when you DID have it?

because raocow didn't seem to understand (it was used a few times and the intended strategy)
EDIT: also, you didn't pick that plasma because you dropped it. the game won't auto-pick up things you've dropped.

It's hard to see what you circled since that explosion is grabbing all the attention. I suggest choosing an earlier frame.

It seems raocow isn't really seeing the 'recommended weapon' icons that float around here and there.

Finally, my reaction to raocow not grabbing the time stop ability: HUH?!?

Those background signs are quite easy to simply not see when playing the levels, given all the other chaos grabbing one's attention. I routinely fail to notice them when playing and I'm not even LP'ing.

That I can agree with. They do tend to fade into the background, when pretty explosions are happening all around.

Can I just mention how happy I am with Boki doing a JoJo pose to activate Time Stop? And how Time Stop is pretty much just ZA WARUDO in general?

I was laughing too damned hard the first time I saw that, AzuRai.

Hey, I mean, raocow didn't get stuck on any of these (2nd try star for all of them) AND some of the solutions were more interesting than the intended one anyway! No reason to get angry. I actually had no idea you could get to that top-right part of Defensive Matrix without using Time Stop or taking damage, that must be super precise!

We're also talking about a guy who's fairly infamous for how little attention he tends to pay though, lol. On top of what Voltgloss said about the game being a bit on the flashy and active side making them fairly easy to miss. (Though from what I've played recently myself this seems a lot better than it used to be anyways.)

World 9 has been showing off some of the really cool tier-3 Tornado combinations that highlight what I remember best about this game. Heavensplitter + Infinite Jumps is a particularly cool combination where you can just rain destruction everywhere around you while still somehow executing precision strikes. It feels like the perfect combination of the chaos that has always been there with the more meticulous design of the finished game, and the result is just so satisfying.

Don't worry about wishing you could experience that blind, the rest of the game will make up for that :)
