Oh man, it was nice to see my work be played.

Commentary and whatnot:
First and foremost, the music is Blizzard Buffalo's theme from Megaman X3, the best ice castle music around baby.

Being the wacky person I am I'm not all that pleased by gimmicks. Call the castle lackluster if you want, but you know it was damn fun. Besides, the only VIP I ever played was 3, and I didn't get very far in it anyway.

But I figured when I was making it I might as well make it look neat. So I went for a sort of "igloo" effect. Constructed completely from chunks of ice and ice cubes. Come to think of it I probably should have made it out of SMB3 ice blocks, but eh.

As for the difficulty, it's a world 6 castle, so I though "Gee whiz batman, if I made another hack, how hard would castle 6 be?" and BAM, there it was. Tough thwomp jumps. I also took the time to make all the Dragon coins possible to get, but difficult-er.

Screw Spritetool

Finally I would like to note everyone complained about the level being too easy. Seemed just right to me, but I guess we're all different.

P.S. Screw Spritetool.
Pandemonium Fortress 2 is my personal best hack so far. Go on and play it.

Yeah Caracc, I thought that your level had the perfect difficulty. The entire level was really well made, actually. Everything from the palette to the music choice.

Personally, I thought the castle needed something a bit more. The design was fine but some sort of gimmick could have really spiced things up. Thank god ice world is done though.

That was the most anticlimactic boss battle after Rumia ever. I half-expected some sort of awesome Cirno fight here.

Ah well. Can't say I was a fan of world 6 to begin with anyway. Let's hope world 7 is as good as you guys are making it out to be.

It's always nice to end "puzzle world" and start with new exciting stuff, like for example even more puzzles! Haha yeah...

Luckily the secret exit is a lot easier than the normal exit for some reason.

Thankfully the puzzles are legit puzzles, not like, Super Puzzle World 3 puzzles. So far, anyway.

Didn't the same thing happen with the beginning of World 6, too?

Anyway, as much as I love ice, I'm glad to see that World 6 is over. Puzzle levels just don't make for very entertaining videos. Also, as a side note, did raocow ever manage to have enough time at the end of a video to set aside for listening to the World 6 OW music? I know that he got about ten seconds of listening time in several times, but I can't remember any stretch of music at the end of a video that lasted at least fifteen seconds. It's just something that I started thinking about when raocow kept singing along to that music at the end of most of the World 6 videos.

Hey! I loved that world!!! By which I mean I love puzzle levels. Seems to me that creativity in level editing is all there, and action-based level more oftenly come back to the same patterns. Unless there's additional stuff that's actually not in the original game, like gimmicks. Gimmicks are fun.

Anyways, the Raft Ride was an incredibly solid level, nothing more to say about it.

Also, seemed that the castle was a bit long-ish for it's difficulty building up. I mean, could have been a little more difficult towards the end, as it's world 6 difficulty-wise. Anyways, good work I guess!

CIMONAQUE que j'ai hâte au prochain update!

Huh. Guess I was thinking of the wrong world when I remembered the listening time being cut off in the world's first video. Man, I need to stop making myself look like a moron here...

Hopefully it's not as underwhelming as the Game Over hype and the momentum with World 6 as a whole felt really off. Only time will tell.

Not really, the level was fine for the most part (a midpoint would've been nice). At the very most, an ice-themed boss, but not necessarily Cirno or Letty.

I didn't like the fact, that Big Boo was used as a boss. Why? Cause castle bosses shall be unique in the way that they don't return in the game. You know the Koopalings are unique since they only appear in one specific castle. But it was REALLY lame to just use a Big Boo boss fight of an enemy that will be fought several times and mostly in Ghost Houses. Plus he's also a regular enemy in some stages as he uses the same appearance than the Big Boos in the Ghost Houses! Very disappointing (whereas the other castles were quite good).

However I liked the draft level.

YES! Blizzard Buffalo music! I always thought it was too repetitive for a hack, but this one fit perfectly :D

I liked the boss music too! Big Boo is not my favorite boss though. Ah well, gotta do what ya gotta do.

The raft was really well made too.

Btw, what was the inspiration behind "Old Man Thwomp"?

You mean Iggy and Larry? Or Wendy and Lemmy? Or Morton and Roy?
Yep, Nintendo reused there own Bosses in the same game by just giving them an other look and changing small detail in the room it self.

really late level designer notes for Awesome Sauce Raft Ride:
I wanted to have my level center around a gimmick that wasn't used very much. Since I obviously didn't get the memo that World 6 was the puzzle world, mine actually turned out pretty actiony. I was afraid it would end up too hard, especially that one jump that raocow had some trouble on. Fotunately it didn't turn out too bad. Also, I hope no one thought there were any forced hits. If you jump the right way, you can avoid both the yoshis under the koopas and the ones under the midpoint without taking a hit. The invincible bullet bill section is supposed to freak the player out, because they're wondering if it will last long enough for them to survive, since they have no way to dodge.
also cool fact: this was one of the earlier levels made for the hack, as I put up the video for it on August 20, 2009.

If you want to see footage of an earliest version of the level, skip to the 6th or 7th minute of this video. It also includes me getting through without getting hit.

Chateau Chilly's one of my favorite Ice levels.

Also the thwimps are supposed to look like a Stone Kirby rock. Except I added spikes.

Also if there's any new gfx I'm done posting it because I lost track of everything. if someone pms me about one though I'll post it asap to this thread.
