Re: Rain World - Lantern Mouse

Post by Crow »

actually i realized a fun gimmick: thread titles based on things gourmand consumes in each episode! yeah that'll work

anyways, here's a lantern mouse ie. a monkey

what a creature.

Hm, I wonder if he's onto something with

his remark that its throws seem to be really strong? I was wondering earlier why the lairs kept displaying massive kill counts, including kelp monsters, and perhaps gourmand here just does quintuple damage or something.

gourmand is CRACKED in the violence department. objectively the strongest slugcat. rao's done it a few times without noticing it but gourmand can just kill things with its body, by landing on them from above or rolling into them.

There was a part of me hoping during the climb today that raocow would miss a jump and land on something. Just absolutely pancake it.

Re: Rain World - Orange Lizard (meat edition)

Post by Crow »

today's food of the day is the ever adorable orange lizard!

Image

they are my favorite lizard. if they had made a plush of them i absolutely would've gotten one. sadly they did not. i love the antennae. i love how friendly they are. even if they want to bite you.

this is also technically a repeat thread title because there was a song called orange lizard! they have their own theme song. that's how cool they are.

I had to look up if Unfortunate Development has less instant death with Gourmand than Survivor and I'm relieved to see it wasn't just my imagination that raocow had so much easier of a time with this area than I did for what he played of it. Makes sense, lore-wise, but boy imagine if he just happened to zig in his first playthrough rather than zag.

he did poke his nose into the start of UD back in survivor iirc but decided "nah not this way" which, fair. also yeah pebbles in general follows a reverse difficulty curve where he gets harder the further into the timeline you go instead of easier, it's a fun touch

I also kinda find it fun that

for the same reason, Unfortunate Development is one of the places where Monk is harder

I've been wondering about that for a while actually. Apparently you can't get the lore from the colored gems in Monk's playthrough because enough time has passed for their data to finally erode into illegibility. But doesn't Monk take place, like, immediately after Survivor's, if not at the exact same time? Gameplay-wise I get it's to rob players of even the pretense of a good time gathering the lore, but story-wise that always confused me, and hearing Unfortunate Development is different makes me wonder if I'm missing something.

I like to imagine the dandelion puffs are kinda like cat tails. So, definitely a last resort. Also, two new flavors of lizard today! Shame they didn't add to the tracker though.

Re: Rain World - Centipede

Post by Crow »

it's everyone's favorite:

Image

hell incarnate! err, the centipedes! technically gourmand's meal of the day is the infant centipede, since many different types of centipedes are considered their own separate creatures, depending on their size. there are actually

6

distinct species of centipede making them the second most populus type of creature in the game, behind lizards.
