Blast Corps - Destroy the world and everything inside!
Somehow, no one claimed this thread. I shall do it.
I played this game years ago... fun times. Backlash is terrible! :D
But man if this isn't a perfect game for raocow.
1 - destroy the world and everything inside
2 - destroy the world and that boat in particular
3 - destroy the world and yesterday's race result
4 - destroy... err... let's run laps instead
5 - destroy the pool table and do a quick race
6 - destroy your assumptions and everything you know
7 - destroy your eyesight and reclaim your eyes
8 - destroy the concept of roads and pathways
9 - destroy the strain station and a handful of crates
10 - destroy tiny asphalt cubes and then do some laps
11 - destroy yourself and all morals
12 - destroy the farm and climb a hill
13 - destroy priceless statues and push some boxes around
14 - destroy the established orders of things and floating spheres
15 - complete the circle and die a whole lot
16 - push blocks around and go back to destroying
17 - destroy the world with unexpected ease?
18 - destroy your brain and drive a boat or three
19 - destroy a city and catch some reruns
20 - destroy the game in two different ways
21 - destroy your last buildings and your sense of disbelief
22 - destroy the game's code and the game itself

Re: Blast Corps - Destroy the world and everything inside!
I was almost considering making this thread too, haha.
Blast Corps was one of my favorite childhood games, I always get really excited to see raocow playing lesser-known games I'm familiar with like this one. Hoping for a Rocket: Robot on Wheels playthrough one day, ehe.
The Sideswipe and various robots were always my favorite vehicles. Also I love how silly the music is in the first stage, it makes for hilarious visuals when paired with what's happening in this game.

A random, offhand comment in the first video now has me convinced Demo is the one driving all those vehicles.

Re: Blast Corps - Destroy the world and everything inside!
Blast Corps is somewhat of a white whale to me. I bought the game used at a flea market - it worked just fine, but it had been 100%'d. As raocow showed, the game auto-saves every building destroyed, every other thing collected, so there was nothing to do except play the tutorial missions.
The huge issue with this is that the game simply doesn't have a menu option to delete the current save. I didn't have the internet yet and didn't know how else to get help with that problem, so I just tooled around in a few empty levels and played the final bonus missions a little (they were fun!), and got really sad and frustrated whenever I remembered that I had the game.
Eventually, I looked it up, and it's something like hold R+L then push A B Start Z or whatever to delete your save. Impossible to figure out on your own.
I could just emulate the game now (my N64 with it is long gone), but I don't think I would have nearly the same amount of fun with it right now as I would have had when the N64 was a shiny new toy and I had infinite time to grind out races or find the last light on the ground somewhere. Oh well
What I'm saying is this is gonna be a blast (heh! HA! ) to watch and finally experience the game through a joyful mind who did in fact have it as a kid BUT also will 100% it

I should really give this game a try again sometime. I remember dropping it out of frustration with that stupid dump truck that nobody likes, but I haven't played it since I owned a cartridge on real N64 hardware.
(Also apparently I have an account on this forum! I somehow totally forgot that I did lol)

A particularly... pragmatic way to win a race, but hey, whatever works. Screw that farm. It's in the way!

Mica Park is a level I remember playing as a kid a few times because these time trial levels, of course, do reset the buildings. It was very confusing.

Between all the racing and superclearing levels, the actual gameplay loop of protecting the hotdog truck feels almost meaningless.

Re: Blast Corps - Destroy the world and everything inside!
I think the game being so incoherent is part of its charm, because it's exactly the sort of nonsense a kid would imagine while playing with their toys. Like how raocow noted everything looks like Hot Wheels and Tonka trucks: everything else feels like an extension of that premise, where the "story" is just a kid letting their imagination run wild.

What is this, "complete"? Have you no respect for the sanctity of your own arbitrary naming scheme? You had a perfectly good gimmick going, and now you have utterly destroyed it with a single moment of carelessness!
...wait a minute.

Re: Blast Corps - Destroy the world and everything inside!
I did not know about the TNT crate you needed the boat to get... after getting to the end several times on that stage and having *no* idea what to do, I eventually resorted to the "blow up anything by repeatedly trying to get out of your vehicle" glitch to destroy the last building.
