fun fact, jetpack dos was one of those games I had considered a long long time ago, it's a big nostalgia game for me! I don't know why I was so late to add it to the list

hell yeah, need to redownload it

need to check whether dosbox is still the preferred dos emulator for simple games like this and ultima 1 or if pcem/86box are slightly better than it overall now. i'm using pcem for the pc version of legend of heroes 5 for instance, crashes in win10 when i gain control of forte (the protag/leader) on the submaps, no idea if its incompatibility with a portuguese language win10 with japanese locale installed or something, the game is compatible with XP but it's from like 1999.

need to get back to Ultima 1, i tend to get distracted once i start doing the quests after maxing out all my stats except strength (it starts to only give you 1 STR point per quest finished, starting around STR 80).

my man playing ultima like it's disgaea

also, i found dosbox-x to have a better user experience IMO. it has a lot of set-up things such as instantly making a virtual drive and running an .exe just by right clicking it in file explorer. it also has excellent GUI options for graphics, processor, and sound and such. and it also plays pc-98 games so raocow can finally play MATURE games like touhou and sex 2 instead of "scrimblo bimblo: around europe in 80 minutes"

Looking at this thread, it seems they're kind of even. It depends on context.
leilei on PCem forums wrote:For the end user that don't know/not experienced with older pc hardware and just want to play a dos game without fuss, i'd still recommend DOSBox as PCem has the rom-hunting/OS-hunting obstacle in the way of the general newbie ease of use. It'd also be the fastest option (though dosbox 0.74 does have a nasty cycles bug with recent intel processors)

If said dos game is Glide/has special content for AWE, or is one of those awfully programmed Windows/DOS hybrids, then PCem :)

If it's a Win9x game and the tricks/patches for running within modern windows don't help/work, then definitely PCem. That's assuming if the game's old enough to not have SecuROM/Safedisk/Cdillo to make the atapi emulation upset.
Note that DOSBox does not support Win9x at all, and booting win9x is considered unintended behavior and should never ever EVER be encouraged. Ignore the Youtubers.
PC98, I mean I could play Legend of Heroes 2 on DOSBox-X, but I'm so used to Neko Project 21 rn

As for playing like Disgaea, it just felt right because what else are you gonna do with how it lets you farm for stat gains on monuments.

So, uh... Delightful Enhanced is out now.
https://talkhaus.raocow.com/viewtopic.p ... 70#p473070

This is technically an early release -- the episode's gotten extensive dev testing and should be stable but we were planning to get more external testing, and we ran out of time before Darkonius is going to be unavailable for a while. But yeah. Not a zombie release, content complete and everything. As it is we were still aiming for July if not this month, and Quine and I thought we had at least until the 15th before Darkonius had to leave. but I guess circumstances changed for him.

In any case, considering it's been over three years since we last discussed this project here, I'm not bringing this up with any expectations about it getting back into the LP queue. As it is I'm still a bit worried about whether it would make for a contentID-safe LP given the episode uses a lot of mainstream Nintendo, Squenix, etc music; we made a concerted effort to make the episode Youtube-friendly at one point, but it turned into a whole Thing and we ended up just giving up on that. And then, earlier this year, there was an incident where Spyro speedrunners and other channels were getting auto-banned for music playing in game footage after an official soundtrack went up for sale. I don't think there's any music from the original trilogy or Reignited in the game, but there is something from A Hero's Tail, and just... the fact that it happened with Spyro means it could happen with other IPs too, so. idk.

I guess I'm mainly just posting about this in this thread to give some closure on the whole thing. Whether or not an LP happens, the episode is out now. Anyone can play it, and Darkonius, Quine and I hope that whoever does play it enjoys what we've built together.

if I have the smallest of requests (since I noticed it's in the bucket.txt), you should play ALPHA SPHERE near the halloween season if not on halloween. Most likely you'll see mostly everything in a singular video.

Honoured it's there, you might get a kick out of it.
