Level distribution by world
Re: Level distribution by world
if you have steam and are interested in helping with the level distribution (or anything, for that matter) hit me up: http://steamcommunity.com/id/shaman_666/
is this videogames?
Re: Level distribution by world
I'd honestly prefer it if my levels were placed by others, as while I do have a general idea for their difficulty I probably can't precisely place them. I do know that Where's The Floor and Block Overhang will be early or midgamish, but I'm not too sure on Castle on the Moonlit Cliff and Ghoul Parade, whether or not they'd be endgame or postgame.
Castle would probably be end and Ghoul post, but eh.

Re: Level distribution by world
I've made my level, Exciting Sky-Cave!, a bit easier than it originally was. So I'd say maybe world 6 or so? I dunno, I'm not good at this stuff, I guess I could let others decide. Y'know, if anyone would be willing to test it again and tell me what they think maybe or something (I posted my updated level in the Post Levels Here thread).
Also I'd love to help with something but sadly I honestly doubt I'll have any time to do anything. I dunno, if there's anything that needs done in like two weeks-ish (as that is when my Christmas vacation thing starts) I might be able to make myself useful in some way. Or something.

Castle levels are really just another theme of levels, at this point.
...also, considering the nature of some these levels, you can imagine the Fun I'm going to have making appropriate hud scenes. @_@

I think he means castle levels as levels to end a world, like in STTB where each world ended in a castle.XutaWoo wrote:Castle levels are really just another theme of levels, at this point.

On the subject of yoshis:
That being said, are yoshis even gonna be able to go from level to level? I know you can flag pipe warps as allowing yoshi, but I didn't know if it worked for level start warps.

Re: Level distribution by world
Yoshis should be able to go between levels. Otherwise that would defeat the point of having them in the every powerup room at the end of the game.
The first thing I would do with infinite power would be to make myself a cave where I could look at my shadow forever.

I made a game called Utter Confusion! Play it! :D
It's a lot of fun and has been incredibly popular at every indie game dev party I've brought it to.

Re: Level distribution by world
any level can be considered a "castle" level. I don't really want to force theming on designers, so if you think your level is adequate for a "last-level of the world", no problem! I've put Demo's Souls as the "castle" of World 7, and it's only half a castle effectively!SAJewers wrote:I think he means castle levels as levels to end a world, like in STTB where each world ended in a castle.XutaWoo wrote:Castle levels are really just another theme of levels, at this point.

Re: Level distribution by world
Really? I figured lots of people would make castle levels. I have a large 15 room castle by the way... Hope it's not too long. I found a rather novel solution to the midpoint problem.

I think it'd be pretty rad if my Glazed Donut Dungeon was the castle level for icey town, provided this world is late game enough. Only problem is that it does not end in a boss fight.

Re: Level distribution by world
Where I myself would put my levels:
Oh Shoot! They Shoot!
End of World 7 or World 8
Where is my sanity?
Either Post game or Gimmick world
Deltinus Castle
Postgame Castle thing (maybe second last or last level or something?)

Re: Level distribution by world
I kind of misunderstood level ordering and stuff so:
Glazed Donut Dungeon: World 7 (possibly castle type final world level though no boss so not neccisarily)
Flight Simlator: Gimmick World (again possible last level material I feel haha)

Re: Level distribution by world
Something tells me the end game is sort of stuffed. I think we have more end game than mid, early game levels. Of course that's just what I've played.

Re: Level distribution by world
I thought there wasn't really a 'gimmick' world anymore, but rather hidden gimmick levels strewn across the map?

Re: Level distribution by world
For Tank Assault! I think it should go somewhere in the midgame, whilst it starts out tricky once you know what's coming it's pretty easy.
Spin! Pierce the Heavens! is quite mean so I'd put it nearer the end.
