I remembered this vid in the ASMT LP when the sound glitched and everything sounded slightly higher pitched, and I realized I really liked the coin sound with that pitch.
I should look into making a new jump sound and others. I would like if the most common sounds were replaced to give the game a more 'ASMBXT' feel and less of a Mario feel.

I assume you're thinking that because it's in a minor key. I tried a version where it modulates to the parallel major at the end but it does not sound good. Putting the whole thing in major doesn't sound good either, especially if you recognise the original because it jars with you.
I checked in the STTB files and it turns out there's no hardcoded limits on sound length or bitrate, only practical ones. So the fact that this is slightly longer is no problem at all and I moved the bitrate up to 192. I think it sounds pretty good like this and better than my earlier one.
Seeing as we've used Ievan Polka so much already I think we should use it for the credits room, or at least a remix version. Not sure if the original version would trip off YouTube ID. It doesn't seem to for me at least.

oh god that third one, it's beautiful
also I agree the last one should be the credits music, I can see letters going up with that song in the background
any feedback on these? i'd like to keep going but if there's no demand i'll just stop. but id really like different sounds to make it less like playing a mario game and more its own thing.

i think it sounds fine, but maybe we should have them in a devkit update to get a general consensus

Regarding other sounds: I notice Doctor Shemp's got star lacks the "zwee" of the original.
No it doesn't. It's quieter but it's there. I could make it louder fairly easily though if that's what people want but at the tradeoff of making the rest quieter - I don't want it to be louder than the rest of the game.
I think I'll leave the jump sound the default, it's seriously hard to find a good one that pleases everyone. I'll get back to the sounds as soon as I get all the site things out of the way.
I know this project's really close to being finished, but I opened FL Studio and thought I'd try my hand at making a level clear jingle. I'm honestly not trying to one-up the creator of the jingle we're currently using, I just figured I'd share my work. Keep in mind that this was done in like, 15 minutes. If we don't use this for the project (and we probably won't), then at the very least it's a starting point for A2MBXT. But regardless, let me know what you think. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ggbsae
