Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
Could you please change the boot URL? Because I'm sick of having to click through the dialogue boxes that talks about running scripts on the page or whatever it is.
Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
What could I do about the friendly star? Is there an option besides removing it altogether? I thought I used it in a clever way. :(

Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
I assume it isn't a problem to just have an information box beside a level indicating how many stars it has, if the counter is broken.
The first thing I would do with infinite power would be to make myself a cave where I could look at my shadow forever.
<- Go team Yeah Doctor Shemp.!
<- That's everyone being nice to me. ^^
I made a game called Utter Confusion! Play it! :D
It's a lot of fun and has been incredibly popular at every indie game dev party I've brought it to.

Have the Friendly star be another NPC that's a graphic swap of the star/leek.Frozelar wrote:What could I do about the friendly star? Is there an option besides removing it altogether? I thought I used it in a clever way. :(
Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
Well, it's just an external program that counts up by 1 each time it detects your death. You have to launch the game from it. Also, it should automatically save your deaths in a local file named demos.dmo or something.
Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
You need the vc redistributable. Yeah, it really sucks that it has to be downloaded for whoever doesn't have that dll on their system...

Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
I honestly kind of like the idea that apparently murder death zone place has '0' stars apparently. I kind of want to keep that way screwy if we can have another way of showing things. It's just.. funny!

Yeah that is pretty hilariously random.

Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
Just to make sure I have the right idea, do I really have to download the most recent version of the dev kit, then the Feb. 4 update, then the Feb. 5 update, then this update to get all the levels and their fixes? Earlier today, I applied the Feb. 5 update to the unchanged dev kit, and I got a "File Not Found" error on the first level I tried to enter. Upon checking, there were only six .lvl files in the worlds folder.
I'm assuming it's because I have to apply all the updates in sequential order, but if that's the case, you might want to alter the first post to reflect that, as it only has the dev kit and the second update right now.

Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
Aside from that first update, every update also has an updated version of the full dev kit. If you need the full dev kit, download the full dev kit.cheez8 wrote:Just to make sure I have the right idea, do I really have to download the most recent version of the dev kit, then the Feb. 4 update, then the Feb. 5 update, then this update to get all the levels and their fixes? Basically:
If you don't have the dev kit: just d/l the dev kit
If you have the dev kit and need to update: either d/l the updates, or re-d/l the full dev kit.
Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
...Huh. I have no idea how I managed to mess that up, but I did. It's fixed now, though.

Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
No problem. Though, it got me thinking, maybe we should have an easy way to check for updates.

I'll set up asmbxt.raocow.com whenever possible, it'll help with the updates.

Well, is it in the same folder as the game?
Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
The lunar launcher. Technically it launches the launcher. I figured all of it would be in the same folder.
Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
Darn. Has anyone else gotten it to work? It works for me... Maybe it's more trouble than it's worth.

Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
It works for me, although it seems to noticeably increase the load times.
Re: ASMBXT Dev Kit *UPDATE*
That's weird. It shouldn't actually do anything or run any code, as I understand it, until you die. At that point it throws an exception which the death counter catches, and then it just increments its counter and returns to the original code, all transparently.
