Yep, I will not play your level if it's only posted in this thread. Cause I'm a dick.

Whee, basic level design for my entry is done! That didn't take nearly as long as I expected. Now, other than testing/refining, the real question is how chocolatey to make it in the remaining weeks? My original plan was to leave it totally vanilla other than the necessary gimmick-related ASM changes, but, man, I've got like 3 and a half weeks here...

Edit: Oh god oh god there's homestuck music on SMWC guess I will be changing the music...

I'm entering. Let's just hope a certain horse-dough made snack-greek god doesn't enter...

@Telamon: What's the gimmick? With my level, a simple palette change was all that was needed to un-vanilla it.

The gimmick (not much of a gimmick, really) is that you start with only one life, plus some related LevelASM.

I don't think I'll be doing any full-on sprite-swaps, but now that I have time I might make some minor graphical changes to various standard blocks so that I can use them without massive cutoff. I never understood why so many people worry about cutoff until I actually tried to use Lunar Magic. Such a pain with the default tile-sets.

I actually try to avoid situations where I'd have cutoff problems in the first place. Yes, I *technically* can put clouds beneath a ledge, but it looks bad and I can just use another ledge for that anyway.

That said, I really should get back in to regularly making levels again, even if it's just as something to do.

What does functionality mean in the scoring? That it's a tested, working level you can actually finish and won't have a breakdown in the middle of?

Basically, it means no glitches. Everything should work correctly, sprites should use right graphics, there should be no slowdown or sprite memory errors, etc.

Great, I really may try this then. If functionality had referred to custom coding of new things, I might have taken a pass, because there's no way I was doing that in a weekend. :)

Welp, guess that's my entry submitted. I really have no intention of placing all that well, I'm mostly in it for feedback. This is the first level I've actually uploaded anywhere, and I'm wondering if my style of level design is alright...?

I hope alot of people are still working on their levels, because right now we only have 10 entries, half of them being joke entries.

Talkhaus, why won't you grab more attention?

Mine's nearing completion. Just have to figure out why AddMusic doesn't want to work.

Harg, I was pretty interested in this at the start, but I guess I just never got motivated enough to start working on something. I suppose I could still possibly get something together in the remaining ~10 days, but at this point I'm not totally counting on it.

My level was going to be called "Temple of the Flying Horse". Take that as you will.

You should make it. I liked what you did for a2mt and any chance to see more of your spritework is something we have to seize.

They are still 10 days before the deadline, don't worry. People will post their entries at the last second.

Wait, only 10 days?! Crap I should really start my level.

If this is true then half of the entries will get a 0 from me. Unless you're talking about stuff like cobalt's hack in which case HEH

I haven't looked at a single entry yet so take this with a grain of salt or whatever

I think the prospect of making a bunch of custom tiles (so that the level would have its own unique 'look') was what initially caused me to hesitate on starting anything. If I were to start now (especially with only a little bit of time left), I'd probably make it as vanilla as I could comfortably get away with (perhaps not completely, but mostly).

Also, I had only made one sprite!!

My wanting to make a level definitely fell through. I found that I just really, really didn't like how a lot of stuff worked in Lunar Magic.

(...why do I find myself doing a raocow impression in text form out of nowhere?)

Submitted my rather difficult level entry.

Not sure about my chances of winning, but hey. I had fun designing my level!

Question. What's the minimum number of tiles of running space needed for Mario to be able to fly without abusing some form of trick?

I have no idea. Just test it out a bit. It should be fast to figure out.
