Well, I took up Daarkbuu's challenge sent to me via SMWC PM.
Well... I tryed it with only savestating at the start.

Hmm... Can you give me some more information? Where on the screen is the entrance, what are the initial FG and BG positions, and what is the Layer 2 scrolling rate?

Vertical Level
Main entrance: Screen 0, x=B, y=6, s1 (Right)
Initial position: FG=00, BG=60
Scrolling: Both are variable.

The main problem is probably the vertical scrolling rate. Variable simply doesn't work with a vertical level. Try Slow, or if that doesn't work, None.
And since you start at the very top of the level, the BG initial position should probably be set to 00.

BG doesn't go any higher.

I'm having a trouble with my water level. It looks like only mario took swimming lessons. If you get what I mean.

You'll need bouyancy to make enemies and stuff interact with water, if that's what you mean.

That's the hard part: trying to keep it hard but still possible to find it without hitting every wall to see if you can pass through it.

Just make a small graphic replacement for that one spot, on the log there are zig zag lines, you could turn some of those into small arrows with yychr but it'd take up another map16 space. And make the arrows darker than they would be if you can.

Oh hey I think I figured out what the oldblocktool one way blocks are.
1WAYL = one way left block
1WAYR = Right
1WAYUD - I think it says up down which makes think you can not enter from below. Or does it mean you can go either up or down but not sides.

But everyone should make clear whether his room starts after a door, dropping down from a pipe, coming up from a pipe or some other way of accessing the room.

That's a good point, and it would probably make sense to say that everyone has to start and end in the exactly same way, rather than trying to jigsaw everyone's levels together based on how they chose to start and end it.

I was thinking about simply having everyone use door entrances and exits for their rooms, as that prevents the player from carrying items between rooms.
