Sprite changes
Sprite changes
So raocow changed the Mario into a non-Mario, and is about to start messing with the power-ups as well.
So, how about them sprites? Personally, I'd love to mess around with some of them! I see that someone already started working on some sprite replacements, but a bunch of those might not be suitable for having them in more than one or two stages...
Of course, any major changes might conflict with the established plot...
Well, there's a lot to discuss. Personally, I'd love to mess around with some of the bosses, maybe some enemies, give the whole hack as much of a unique charm as we can stuff in there! The changes would have to be fitting in design next to our strange heroine Demo, but not too close, or else it would probably destroy her distinction, and would make the whole game look mismatched if none of the sprites fit with the background graphics... You know.
What do you think? Should we mess around with some more sprites, which are okay to mess around with, what direction should they go in?

If we go with the any of the plot ideas that involve Bowser as the villain, the sprites should probably be in normal Super Mario World style (i.e. with clear outlines). And besides, I doubt that we could get all the sprites redrawn in raocow's style.
And I'll just post the (kind of short) list of sprite changes already made:

P-Switch (3E) -> P
Mechakoopa (A2) -> robot duck
Wooden spikes (AC and AD) -> death pencils
And one that I made not too long ago but haven't shown yet:

If its alright, could you post a picture of the P? Because I have a tile that looks like a P-switch to tell you where to press it and it would look awkward if there are no P-switches.
I have a difficult time conveying what I want to say.

Could I perhaps help with some of the sprites? I'm not great at shading and stuff, just general outlines and colors. I made this little spike thing cause I got bored, not really amazing, but yeah.

I think he means the coin for his custom sprite, it uses the graphics of the coin the bonus cloud drops.

When I cange the Colors the Koopas get totaly messed up

Try making a savestate in the level and loading it with yy-chr.

Yes I did that, the problem is that the Goomba has the same palette as the Yellow Koopa. And I don't know how to change the palette that the sprite has to use. I would be really happy for any help you could give me there.

That tool allows you to change basic behaviors of Sprites including what pallete it uses.
You'll have to convince the rest to the guys to let that be a global change though. I don't think it will be a problem. If that IS gonna replace all of the goombas, it won't matter.

ok so I could now update the Goombas to look red. Only one red howerver would not look really good in a Mario Game so I reinterpreted him. Also his walk animation is now a little bit different. I wanted to make an ennemy that looks fun when it walks around.

I don't think either of the big boo resprites should be a hack-wide swap, but should be used in a level each

Uh... I think YCZ got what I was saying, seeing as how the graphics I made have absolutely nothing to do with the coins the bonus cloud drops.
