Quebecois swear words

are cool as hell and I would like to know more about them!

Par example, raocow in one of his more recent vids said 'simonac'... but I can't find its etymology or even what it means beyond "it's a naughty word :o". I know that every exclusively-Quebecois swear is blasphemy against the Catholic Church, but that doesn't help in this case.

My understanding of Quebecois swear words is that the word you use doesn't matter, the "strength" of the swear is determined by how many you chain together.

Also I think "tabarnac" roughly translates to "your mother is a whore" or something like that.

I work with a guy from Montreal and he's always yelling tabarnac haha, that's the only one I know

'tabarnak' is derived from 'tabernacle', which is the little table at the front of the church.

It has the relative 'swear strength' as 'fuck', but it's no where near as versatile (if you want a versatile swear, use 'criss')
