A quick reminder about this:
Rockythechao wrote: rather than keep the old SMBX variants that we know the stalker contributed to we could just use the original ASMT sprite, back before he ever got involved.

I certainly wouldn't mind having this one as a separate emoji. Maybe :retroseclair: or something in that vein?
As for Iris, unfortunately the first original sprites she had that weren't just Demo recolors were her ASMBXT ones. With that said, I went ahead and made an ASMT/A2MT-esque Iris sprite with general hardware limits (tile bounds, SMW palette, etc) in mind and kind of a blend between her current and past designs.
Image

If ASMT Demo would be :retroseclair:, I guess this would be :retreauxseclair:... or they could be :retrodemo: and :retroiris:, or some other pair of names. Whatever works.

Am I the only person who just straight up never uses the Windows start menu?

I don't even use it for shutting down/sleeping my PC any more, I use the win+x menu and arrow keys cause it's way faster

speaking of slippery slopes, for some inexplicable reason I've decided it's a good idea to compile a custom build of VLC wherein the ncurses interface runs on windows. Due to a number of reasons, this essentially restricts me to compiling under cygwin, and it would essentially be a cygwin-vlc instead of a win32-vlc.

To do this I virtually need working cygwin instructions, which haven't been updated since 2011. In fact the cygwin compile support was more-or-less dropped when videolan started using meson (whether or not this is actually true is irrelevant - it's functionally true, as there's no evidence of there ever being meson rules for vlc for a cygwin compile), so I'd have to hack in enough support to build vlc within cygwin in the first place.

This... may be a bit outside my scope.

I wonder if this E3 cancellation will put the event out of its misery for good. It seems like it's been getting worse and worse for a few years now, and people are caring less and less. Nintendo hasn't been there for a few years, Sony wasn't there last year, so what are we left with? Bethesda who nobody likes any more? Ubisoft who I'm not sure has a particularly dedicated fanbase? With the rise and ubiquity of streaming over the past several years, it seems like it's easier than ever for publishers to just be putting out announcements as they have them, just like Nintendo has been doing with their Directs. I have to assume with 2/3 of the big three pulling out (and the remaining hold-out being Microsoft who has never been afraid to dump money into things that may not even be worthwhile) that the numbers have been crunched and it's been figured out that the money being spent on having a big presence at E3 just isn't worth it any more.

Who here has watched every single raocow vid ever? I'm considering doing it. (obvioulsy will watch them in a minimized tab while working on other stuff, that would be a bigger time sink than watching several long running shonen anime) Is it even possible? Some old videos I imagine are lost to time too.

Oh, dang, the author of Rabi-Ribi re-tweeted that, neat!
It's always cool whenever you can make something that the creators see/can interact with. Social media can be pretty cool :3

I wish, I'm a few weeks behind myself. Should have plenty of time to catch up with how things/the economy are going, though :c

From what I recall there are definitely some that have been lost over the years. A lot of his oldest videos you can find here though if you're not already aware. Also if you're going to shoot for all raocow videos, don't forget the Patreon ones. (Which assuming he still does those, will take quite awhile by themselves. When I was paying into his Patreon they were like 30-40 minutes.)

Kind of a random thought, but do any of y'all remember when rao made an offhand mention of what he liked from Subway, and basically everyone listed off their personal Subway order in the comments?

I do and I would love to know which video it was so I could go back and check if my tastes have changed and/or steal interesting order ideas

I watched every single video up to TSRPR's last one (pre-VIP1 replay), and as much as I like rao as a person, it's honestly time I wish I spent doing something else. Then again I was like 13 at the time.

I forget if I watched the Parodius and SamSho2 vids, I know the MUGEN thread (screenshot LP?) was on archives.

Same, that sounds nice.

That or someone ends up making a Talkhaus Eats thing and tries every sandwich.
