I've been drawing more often these past few days (up to 4 pages filled on my sketchbook) and while they're not the best, hearing from artist friends that I'm improving steadily is just. An instant shot of serotonin aimed at my balls.
My life/photograph drawings aren't very good yet but, my friends say my hands are pretty good for a beginner even so (wrist and back of the hand are the only real issue), and even if I think the lynx looks bad, "it's still more practice"... aaaaaaahhhhhh♥
If I had to pick one pic to be proud of it'd be this Toei Sonic redraw I did back in July, using a screencap from the Sonic CD ending as reference.
I tried to draw this once back in like 2014? Rena probably remembers this. But it was very low quality and looked like a plain scribble. It took a while but I've managed to learn how to see a bit in the time from then to now.
I sometimes forget to break objects into shapes though. That's also why this Sonic looks accurate-ish.
It's all a learning experience I guess. Everything's so hard, but we find ways to cope with it and make it easier to handle.

2 years ago I ordered replacement shoulder button cables for my OG 3DS because they weren't really working any more (one more than the other). It was the exact same thing that happened on my DSi back in the day so there's clearly something wrong with that button mechanism since they're essentially the same. Anyway, the replacements sat in the shipping envelope for about 2.5 years. I even moved cities and back and they came with me both ways. Today i finally decided to finally crack the thing open and replace them and it seems to have worked!
It also reminded me how nice the original 3DS hardware was, that thing still feels really good in the hand, especially compared to my new 3DS XL that i've been using since it came out. I don't know why Nintendo's hardware started feeling so cheap on all the 3DS models after the first one. I also just don't like the XL systems cause you're seeing the low res screen blown up even bigger, making it look worse. But the XL was all that was available at launch in North America for some reason, and even then i think the smaller one was only available occasionally for like black friday deals and stuff.

found out one of my biggest problems with drawing on tablet (sketching and whatnot) is basically line control. im using a wacom intuos rather than like an ipad so i lack the proper hand eye coordination for now and i'd be dead before i'd ever get the chance to touch a cintiq :poorbab:

Nice!
Cleaned up and condensed a ton of my copper scrap earlier this weekend. Still have a full 5-gallon bucket to hammer of it, too, but I cut the crap out of one of my fingers so I'll hold off until there's not a foot of snow outside. I'm almost considering taking my 1-1/8" copper scrap to the yard and selling it as #1 since it's a nightmare to hammer flat.
Anyone here have any experience melting down scrap metal? I bought a forge and am a total noob when it comes to handling molten metals and don't want to destroy my patio/feet.
my goal is to eventually cast a brass Demo statue since that'd be a seriously cool thing to have/do
