Hopefully Mozzarella's html5 Flash substitute program goes somewhere. Though Flash really sucks anymore. I went to play a Flash game yesterday, one I've played many times in the past without issues, and no matter what graphics settings I used on it, it was basically unplayable. It kept completely freezing Firefox for like a minute or so.

The End is Nigh is a flash game that works very well. Although it's a standalone app so that probably helps.

New question, this time for the more midi-savvy folks on hand.

How do I build a soundfont? I want to make a soundfont where every instrument is either percussion or the Seinfeld slap bass (for the obvious reason 8-) ) Who wants a soundfont where everything is either percussion or the Seinfeld slap bass?

Siopao/meat buns taste nice, but good lord the smell of it while it's being steamed is horrid. Was waiting in a corridor at a hospital, and there's a stand in the area that sells snacks, and whenever the steamer is opened I get a whiff of it. Hot, wet bread smells so unappetizing.

Switches are in stock at Amazon.ca right now, making this the first opportunity I've had to buy a Switch since it came out

But I'm not going to buy one because BotW is really the only major game out for it right now that I'm interested in, and I already have it on Wii U + played it pretty extensively there. And more importantly, I'm moving out in September to a different city to start a new job, and I need to save money for my first month's rent. To buy a Switch + BotW combo right now would be about $520, which is kind of a lot.

Also there's something inside of me that feels like the longer I wait, the more likely it is that Nintendo will make tiny hardware tweaks to the Switch without telling anyone and/or perfect the manufacturing process, making it less likely I'll get a defective unit.
I'll probably wait until it's closer to the Super Mario Odyssey launch before buying one.

I like how desmume's built in video recorder gives a data rate of 141557 kbps and a total bitrate 142968 kbps.
A 6 second video becomes 115 MB.

I heard that one of the people who works at foxconn and revealed all of the original switch details (which are now proven true) said some time ago that there would be an upgrade to the switch. I don't remember anything that they said the upgrade entails, but I could look up the youtube video I first heard about that if anyone's interested in hearing more.

I don't know if I'd trust that source since the Nintendo ninjas would've gotten that person by now. Still, it's not unheard of for a company to eventually do a hardware upgrade, and since this thing is equally a handheld as much as it is a console, there's more of a chance.

There's a few people from Foxconn that show up in the Apple subreddit every once in a while and leak stuff about upcoming Apple products, and I think they have a pretty good track record of accuracy. Seems if you manage to stay anonymous, you can get away with it.

It's meant for lossless dumping of pre-recorded inputs, not direct recording of footage... you'll want to pointresize it up to at least 2x and re-encode it lossy (I'd suggest 4:2:0, others will suggest 4:4:4, but as long as you upscale using nearest neighbor by a power of 2 before encoding lossy you're only losing color precision, while not actually introducing any chroma bleedthrough into the final encode. Horikawa would probably give better advice that maintains full color fidelity while still giving decent compression, it's just 4:2:0 gives the best compression to visual fidelity ratio that I've seen). Or use a recording program if you're trying to record commentary.

Makes sense once you run the numbers. Each raw frame in the dump is 256x384x24, which comes out to 2,359,296 bits per frame (or 294,912 bytes per frame). Since desmume dumps at 59.826 frames per second, this means we're getting about 141,147,243 bits per second (17,643,405.312 bytes per second).

This is why good encoding is so important.
