They are so extreme they either delete the sound of a video (but leave the video itself intact, which most of the time is a video with commentary. hence why it is pretty useless) or outright delete it.

I can't just single out any one track, but I'm really liking the entire soundtrack for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth a lot!

One of my all-time favorite groups is a band called té (sometimes written te'). They're an instrumental rock group from Japan, and they're really energetic. So if you like that kind of stuff you may like this!
Here's a song from an earlier album:

And this is a newer one from their latest album of two years ago:

You know, I can't help but think big beat(The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, etc) is kindof underrated as far as musical genres go. Plenty of songs are still trash, but theres still a few golden gems that are pretty much right on the sweet spot between rock and electronic stuff.
And while there's a bunch of other stuff I like, I don't think it makes much sense just to make a list, since it'd be pretty long and nobody would really read it. anyways. So, I guess I'll just pick some random song and go with it.

in that vein, i've been looking to get into The Crystal Method or other big beat artists that aren't Chemical Brothers or Fatboy Slim. any album recommendations?spittySynthyHands wrote:You know, I can't help but think big beat(The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, etc) is kindof underrated as far as musical genres go.

In descending order off the top of my head, and excluding Chemical Brothers (because you asked for it) and Fatboy Slim, (because you asked for it, and also I'm not a terribly big fan of him.)Whimsical Calamari wrote:in that vein, i've been looking to get into The Crystal Method or other big beat artists that aren't Chemical Brothers or Fatboy Slim. any album recommendations?spittySynthyHands wrote:You know, I can't help but think big beat(The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, etc) is kindof underrated as far as musical genres go.
The Prodigy - Fat of the land
The stuff after that really differs in style greatly into completely different directions, and their earlier stuff is much more rave-ish. If that's really what you're looking for, get "Music for the Jilted Generation" instead. In any case, this is pretty much the codifier for the genre, and one of the better albums in general out there, period. I'd recommend listening to it all in one go, some of the songs don't stand too well on their own, but make so much more sense in the context of the album, and they all blend together pretty well.
The Crystal Method - Vegas
Nothing weak in this album, and Trip Like I do is a massive opener. But really, I could probably point to any of their albums and you would do alright.
Propellerheads - decksanddrumsandrockandroll
Their only album, for various reasons. You've probably already heard some of it, since a lot of it was used in commercials and movies all over the place, including The Matrix. They suffer pretty badly from "pick a neat riff, repeat for 10 minutes", even by genre standards though. Of course, you should probably try dancing or something while listening to all of this stuff anyways. So yeah.
That's a pretty good starting place, if you ask me. Though I couldn't call myself an expert, I just listen to the music.

Thanks! Didn't realize The Fat of the Land would be such a departure from The Prodigy's previous work (I've been listening to Experience lately and have been planning on getting Music for the Jilted Generation). And as for The Crystal Method, good to know there's a lot of good stuff by them that wasn't just the singles I've heard in various games and other media.
(actually, that reminds me: would you recommend any of their albums past Come With Us? I've heard they've been sort of on the decline lately)
Having been introduced to Big Beat through The Chemical Brothers' Dig Your Own Hole I'm quite used to that, don't worry.spittySynthyHands wrote:I'd recommend listening to it all in one go, some of the songs don't stand too well on their own, but make so much more sense in the context of the album, and they all blend together pretty well.

Iunno, I like most of their later stuff from We Are The Night, and Push the button. There's some groaners (like The Salmon Dance*, or Galvanize), but then there's some really good songs, (like The Pills Won't Help you now, or Surface to Air). Thats just my entirely subjective opinion though. And then theres Further, which I think is really fine overall.Whimsical Calamari wrote: (actually, that reminds me: would you recommend any of their albums past Come With Us? Really though, comparing albums is hard, because having a single excellent one makes any other album that's merely really good look really terrible in comparison.
*I still love it because It's so deliciously silly though.

My god i could talk about this for ages and ages, i have quite a varying taste in music it ranges from this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZLILV18ut8
to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSbZidsgMfw
and even this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6JCGCYbpE0
I play guitar, sing a bit and sometimes write songs, but i have a very bad case of the 'good at starting, bad at finishing things' syndrome.
If anyone wants to talk to me about music, don't ever hesitate i can talk your ears off about this stuff.

Sooo, I guess the newest band that I'm into is Foster The People. Very good pop music; something that you don't see too often nowadays. A bit of their stuff transcends into electronica, alternative, and neo-psychedelia as well, so give them a shot if you're into that sort of stuff. Here's some songs that I particularly like:
"Pumped Up Kicks" from Torches - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oLzX0RPquk
"Waste" from Torches - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6nkmpHzPN4
"Ask Yourself" from Supermodel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_4PC1Zox0c
"Best Friend" from Supermodel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoT7MPS8WDM

Yo. Is anyone here listening to Canadian French music? Being English Ontario scum, I'm not on top of the scene, but this is what I've been listening to lately.
"Requin Tigre", by Galaxie (new album tomorrow!): http://olivierlangevin.bandcamp.com/track/requin-tigre
"Bicyclette", by Jesuslesfilles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7jxL7MuBs4
"Mini Jupe et Watusi", by Les Breastfeeders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8pdJHwx3DU
A Zelda Classic Thing question for anyone musically inclined:

oh hey this probably shouldn't die
what with it being much more general than songs currently stuck in one's head and all
[end bump]
Trying to see if I can respect this Powerman 5000 album I picked up years and years ago (because I was a child that liked Supernova), but I'm pretty iffy on it, even if it does try to appeal to my biases by sounding like a PS1-era racing game.
update twenty-ish minutes later:
the only reason i finished this album is the sunk cost fallacy. for something so full of heavy beats, shouting, and distorted guitars, it sure was monotonous
